Clemson Tigers Football 2014 News and Updates

7/20/14 – The big ACC Kickoff is currently underway, and while Jameis Winston has been the talk of the town, the Clemson Tigers are taking it upon themselves to burst his bubble. The Tigers are, after all, tied for the most Conference titles with Florida State University. They’ll have to kick things off on the right foot, as Clemson will face the Seminoles in Week 3 on the road. Buy Clemson Tigers vs. Florida State tickets for as low as $55 on Sept. 20 and see if they can defeat their Atlantic Division foes and set the tone for the 2014 season.

6/26/14 – How do you make up for the departure of Sammy Watkins Jr. and Tahj Boyd? Don’t lose anyone else! Lucky for the Clemson Tigers, the school is returning 38 junior and senior scholarship players, making it coach Dabo Swinney’s most veteran team ever, with enough experience and composure to take the team to the top. The battle for signal caller is blazing on, with worthy candidates Cole Stoudt and Deshaun Watson pining for the starting QB position. Last year Clemson defeated Georgia (38-35) in the opener at Death Valley, which got them off to a fiery start. Can they do so again on Aug 30 at Sanford Stadium? This time they’ll take the Bulldogs on the road, and you can get-in for $180. Buy Clemson Tigers Football tickets and see if the squad can pull another glorious upset!

6/16/14 – Clemson Tigers football has a total of 21 commits so promising that the class is ranked No. 2 in the nation by ESPN, just behind Alabama. These talented recruits will look to earn starting spots on the roster when they link up with returners this summer. Clemson has a rough schedule in 2014, with a difficult stretch early in the season: across Aug 30- Sept 27, they meet Georgia, South Carolina State, Florida State and North Carolina on the gridiron. Buy your Clemson Tigers tickets today and see which true freshmen take the field in 2014!

6/5/14 – Clemson Tigers tickets are priced just below the NCAA Football average at $111. Games at Clemson Memorial Stadium range from an average $54 (vs. Georgia State Panthers) - $251 (vs. South Carolina Gamecocks). Anxious to see the Tigers in their first home game of the 2014 season? Clemson football ticket prices are as low as $16 for the Sept 6 matchup. Behind Senior Day on Nov. 29, the next most expensive game in South Carolina is against the Louisville Cardinals (avg. $119) followed by the North Carolina Tar Heels (avg. $115).

5/20/14 – Clemson saw five former Tigers picked in the 2014 NFL Draft – Sammy Watkins, Brandon Thomas, Bashaud Breeland, Martavis Bryant, and Tajh Boyd. Who will fill the void on the Clemson Tigers football roster? Senior Cole Stoudt, Sophomore Chad Kelly, and true freshman Deshaun Watson are competing to replace record-setting QB Boyd. Chad Morris and his coaching staff will look to Sophomore Mike Williams to fill the void at WR and perhaps we’ll see true freshman Charone Peake on the field alongside Williams and senior Adam Humphries. Your first chance to see the Tigers in action will come Sept. 7 against South Carolina State (avg. $60). The most expensive game on the Clemson Tigers schedule will be the season-finale at Clemson Memorial Stadium against the South Carolina Gamecocks (avg. $262). Clemson Tigers tickets are $2 under the NCAA football average of $119, second highest in the ACC (Syracuse avg. $134).

4/23/14 – Clemson quarterback Chad Kelly was dismissed from the team Monday by coach Dabo Swinney, the same day that senior Cole Stoudt was named starter heading into fall practice. While the QB battle winds down, coordinator Chad Morris and Co. look for ways to beat rivals South Carolina and Florida State this season. The Tigers are 0-5 “against the other team in the state” and suffered a 14-0 shutout against their ACC Atlantic Division foes last season. While Clemson will visit Tallahassee for their second road game of the year, the Tigers are scheduled to close their regular season at Clemson Memorial Stadium against the Gamecocks (min. $161). While the in-state rivalry game is the most expensive on the Clemson Tigers home schedule, the next most in-demand game is against the North Carolina Tar Heels where Clemson Tigers tickets start from $66.

2/4/14 - The Clemson Tigers finished last season ranked #7 with an 11-2 overall record (7-1 in the ACC), topping it off with an ACC title and Orange Bowl win over Ohio State. Clemson will be losing some key players to the NFL Draft in 2014: former Heisman candidate QB Tajh Boyd, elite WR Sammy Watkins, RB Roderick McDowell; though Chad Morris, a majority of the O-Line and the rest of the star receiving players will return. For this year’s recruiting class, offensive positions were of top priority, so signing 4-star WB Deshaun Watson—the nation’s top dual-threat quarterback—was a clutch move. Clemson boasts 19 commitments (nine 4-stars) and is currently in talks with numerous vaunted recruits (Cory Thomas, Richard Yeargin III) for National Signing Day, to put the finishing touches on the No.15 ranked class. Though last year was a definite success, fans are still hurt over the two losses to South Carolina and FSU and hope the new-look team will get it done this year. Still, the lingering question is: who will fill Boyd’s shoes?

2013 Season

10/25/13 - Clemson is trying to put a tough loss to #5 Florida State behind them as they enter the final lap of the season. To start the year, the Tigers ousted then #5 Georgia and had been undefeated until they met the Seminoles. Although their BCS National Championship hopes may have been put to rest, the Clemson Tigers are optimistic to be part of a second BCS bowl game in three years. In order to get there, the Tigers will need a win against in-state rival, South Carolina Gamecocks, in the season closer. Clemson will play on the road; the Orange have not beaten the Gamecocks in Columbia since 2007. But be assured that senior Tajh Boyd will play his heart out in the quarterback’s final regular season game in College. Clemson still has a shot at the ACC Championship game but they must win this weekend against Maryland, and then beat Virginia and Georgia Tech. In addition, they’ll need some help from the Seminoles; two losses in their final four games would give the Tigers an opportunity.

Clemson Tigers Football 2014 Season

2013 Season

After starting the 2013 season with a win against a top five team, Clemson looks like a bona fide national title contender. Quarterback Tajh Boyd came up big in the clutch against LSU in last year's Chick-fil-A Bowl, and picked up where he left with an impressive opening performance against another SEC powerhouse in Georgia. If Boyd keeps up his stellar performance, he can expect to be invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony and hear his name called very early at the 2014 NFL Draft. With the combination of Boyd and junior receiver Sammy Watkins, a two-time First-team All American, the Tigers have one of the most potent offenses in the country.

The average price for the remaining 2013 games at Memorial Stadium is $94. The ACC showdown against Jameis Winston and the Florida State Seminoles is the most expensive, averaging $250. The least expensive games in Death Valley this season comes on 9/7 against South Carolina St. and 11/23 against The Citadel. The Palmetto Bowl against in-state rival South Carolina is on 11/30 at Williams Brice Stadium, and is averaging $252. If the Tigers can get through the season without any blemishes, they’ll travel to Charlotte for the ACC Championship Game and possibly on to Miami for the Orange Bowl or even Pasadena for the BCS National Championship Game.
