Baylor Bears Football 2016 News and Updates

2015 Season

11/23/15 - The Baylor Bears football program had a lot riding on their game last week against Oklahoma State. First of all, the game was highly anticipated because they were regrouping from their first loss of the season last week against the Sooners. Also, Oklahoma State had yet to be beat, so the odds were not in favor of the Bears. It was the team’s ability to put up two touchdowns in the second quarter all while holding Oklahoma State to a big old goose egg during that quarter. This led the Bears to the 48-35 win. See if they can have another successful week when they play the dominating TCU program on November 27. Tickets are still available.

11/16/15 - It was a mild shock when Baylor’s winning streak—20 games long, dating back to last season—came to an unceremonious end at the hands of the Sooners. The Bears dropped to No. 10 overall in national rankings and sixth among potential College Football Playoff contenders, putting them in danger of a second straight year on the outside looking in. Three more games remain on the schedule for Baylor Bears Football, including two against top-15 opponents, and they’ll need every W they can get for a chance at the Big 12 championship. Baylor heads to Oklahoma State this weekend in a must-win matchup—get your tickets today starting at just $48!

11/9/15 - Two fatal turnovers doomed Baylor Bears Football and their chance for an undefeated season on Saturday, as they fell 44-34 to the No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners. BU dropped to 8-1 and 5-1 in conference competition this season, as freshman QB Jarrett Stidham was picked off twice on the evening. He did complete two passing TDs but it wasn’t enough to offset the difference in rushing games, where OK prevailed 241 yards to Baylor’s 159. Samaje Perine in particular was tough to contain, as he put together a 166-yard, two-touchdown outing. The Bears will take on Oklahoma State this weekend and tickets are still available if you act fast! Get yours for $75 and up!

11/2/15 - Some critics of Baylor Bears Football were calling for an upset last weekend when they faced the Iowa State Cyclones, but that simply did not happen. In fact, the Bears looked stronger than ever as they trounced the Cyclones a staggering 45 – 27. Baylor is now 7 – 0 and off to one of their best starts in recent history. Come find out if they can remain undefeated this weekend, when they take on the Kansas State Wildcats on the road. After that, catch them back at home to face the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, November 14. Tickets to the home matchup are widely available and can be purchased for just $51.

10/19/15 - Baylor Bears Football is looking more than strong this season, and it’s only getting started. The Bears have already had a handful of notable victories, including their 66 – 7 walloping over Kansas on the road as well as last week’s 62 – 38 romp over West Virginia. Baylor will truly be test this week, however, when the Iowa State Cyclones pay them a visit. 10/14/15 - The Baylor Bears football team is out for revenge this weekend. On Saturday, Oct. 17, they will face the West Virginia Mountaineers at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas. When the two teams met last year, the Bears were making a run at a national championship, but the Mountaineers dashed those hopes. Once again, Baylor is at the top of the rankings and boasts an undefeated record. They have an explosive offense that has outscored each opponent by at least 28 points so far in the season. They are looking to extend that streak this Saturday, and you can be a part of the action. Tickets are for sale now starting at just $19.

10/5/15 - It’s been a steady rise to the top for the Baylor Bears football team, and they’re currently sitting at the No. 3 spot in the nation. They are undefeated on the season so far, a streak that they are hoping to continue this week as they face Kansas on the road. Head coach Art Briles has called this team his best so far, even stating, “My only anxiousness comes from making sure we fulfill what we’re capable of.” Despite being highly favored to win this week, they aren’t taking anything lightly. They are preparing for this game as they would any other. Their next home game is Oct. 17 against the Mountaineers of West Virginia.

9/28/15 - So far this season, the Baylor Bears football team has seemed to execute its offense and defense flawlessly. They have managed to keep opposing team scores to fewer than 70 points combined, while managing to score nearly 200 points in just three games. This Saturday looks to be more of a challenge as they are scheduled to play at Texas Tech. If the Red Raiders are to stand a chance, they’ll have to watch out for explosive rushing attacks from Baylor’s Shock Linwood. He scored twice with 158 yards when the teams met last season. They will also have to keep an eye out for Bears receiver Corey Coleman, who has scored eight touchdowns and is averaging more than 150 yards per game.

9/21/15 - The Baylor Bears football team just finished up their second game of the season, and once again, they managed to score an unreal number of point. First, they racked up a completely unbelievable 56 points against the SMU Mustangs' 21. Even more impressively, this was during an away game. Somehow, the Bears managed to top themselves. After returning to Baylor, they were able to score 66 points while hosting the Lamar Cardinals on September 12. If this is how the Bears are going to be performing this year, you are definitely going to want to get your tickets now. Up next, they host the Rice Owls on September 26th. Tickets are still widely available, starting as low as $16. After that, they have two away games, so be sure to catch this upcoming match.

9/14/15 - The Baylor Bears football program has been completely unstoppable offensively this season. They have had two high scoring games thus far and are hoping to continue that trend throughout the season. Last Saturday, they took on the Lamar Cardinals. The game was nothing short of exciting as each team continued to score during each and every single quarter. However, the Bears were able to match the Cardinals touchdowns with more touchdowns and field goals. The Bears play again on Saturday, September 19 for a nice fall, afternoon game. Bring your weekend a little more happiness by getting your very own tickets to see the Bears in their undefeated state. Tickets for the weekend game are still up for grabs and start around an affordable $29 each.

9/7/15 - The Baylor Bears football program started their season opener with a huge bang against the SMU Mustangs. Both teams hit the field with some offensive aggression and we're practically unstoppable. The Bears pulled off an impressive 28 points in the first quarter alone, but the Mustangs weren't far behind with the 14 points they added to the scoreboard. The Mustangs were able to stop the Bears offense in the second quarter, leaving them scoreless to the seven points they added to their score. The second half is when the Bears really came to life by not only completely shutting down the Mustangs offensively, but scoring like crazy. See if they can pull off another win this Saturday when they take on the Lamar Cardinals. Tickets are still available.

9/3/15 - It is time for the Baylor Bears football team to start back up, but they will be facing an uphill battle right from the start. It was bad enough when the team learned their season opener would be on an opponent's field, but the bad news keeps on coming, in addition to defensive back Orion Stewart being suspended recently, defensive lineman Shawn Oakman will also be missing the opener. Be sure to keep an eye on the Bears for their first match, but their season might start proper with their second matchup on September 12th against the Lamar Cardinals. Because their home opener is slightly delayed, tickets are still available, starting as low as $26. That price won't last forever, however, so secure your spot today.

8/26/15 - The wait has been long, but it is time for the Baylor Bears football team to take the field once again. With the 2015 season nearly upon us, fans turn to the schedule to see where an advantage can be earned. It looks like the Bears are going to have an uphill battle this year, as their schedule is littered with away games. In fact, their season opener has to be on an opponent's field. The season starts on September 5th with the Bears travelling to take on the SMU Mustangs. Then, they will return on September 12th for their home opener against the Lamar Cardinals. Tickets for that game are still available, starting at $34. Afterward, the Bears will have one more home game before hitting the road for back-to-back away matches.

8/17/15 - The Baylor Bears football team has completed its first practice scrimmage in preparation for the 2015 season. During the game on Saturday, quarterback Seth Russell three 233 yards for three touchdowns in a near perfect display. He threw one 77-yard touchdown pass to Corey Coleman. Backup quarterbacks Jarertt Stidham and Chris Johnson did not play as well as their counterpart, throwing 3 for 12 and 2 for 7 respectively. This scrimmage also signaled the first full pad workout of the season. Although overall the scrimmage looked good, the team still struggled during situational drills. The Bears head to Dallas to play SMU on Friday, September 4 for their first game of the season. Fans can still get tickets to this game and the rest of the season, with prices starting at $37.

8/3/15 - With just over a month until the start of the college football season, the discussion is heating up about several position battles at Baylor. Most important of all talks is the one which relates to the quarterback spot, where Seth Russell appears ready to step up after serving as Bryce Petty’s backup for the past two years. Whispers are circulating, however, about the up-and-coming Jarrett Stidham, who is considered the Bears’ QB of the future. Then there’s Chris Johnson, a highly-touted sophomore recruit who will definitely make the conversation a bit more intriguing. Baylor Bears Football tickets are on sale now, including seats for opening day on September 12th at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas! Secure your seats today with prices starting at just $29!

6/22/15 - The Baylor Bears football program has improved leaps and bounds this year in the recruiting department. Big news this week was Baylor was able to lock down three huge recruits in less than a 24 hour period. High school senior linebacker, Deonte Williams made his commitment on Tuesday night. The Bears are hoping to see more of his explosiveness off of the line when he plays for the Bears. Kellen Mond is a high school junior quarterback that is ready to join the Bears. He was recruited by Texas Tech, TCU and Texas A&M, but chose the Bears. Last but not least, receiver Hezekiah Jones will be added to the Bears roster. He is the highest ranked of the three players and is a real threat on the field. Watch them live starting in September.

5/25/15 - Baylor Bears football fans have some exciting recent news to help tide them over until the season begins in September. Junior Kyle Fuller has been named on the Spring watch list for the Rimington Trophy, one of six from the Big 12 and 52 in the entire country to be named to the list. Additionally, two key members of the 2013 and 2014 championship squads were drafted in the NFL Draft: Bryce Petty and Bryce Hager. Petty was also one of four departing seniors who were honored by the National Football Foundation in late April. The season opener against the SMU Mustangs is on September 4, and will be televised live on ESPN so fans can watch from home. Tickets to all home and away games are on sale now, starting at $46.

2014 Season

12/10/14 - After ending the season 11-1, the Baylor Bears football team finished first in the Big 12 but fifth in the country, barely missing a spot in the first-ever college football playoff. Throughout the season, the Bears looked as explosive as any team, averaging 48.8 points per game. The Bear’s head coach, Art Briles, expressed his discontent after being shutout of the national championship picture, and he will look to show the committee that they made a mistake in this year’s Cotton Bowl. On January 1st, the Bears will face the eighth-ranked Michigan State Spartans, who are 10-2 this season. The dynamic Baylor offense will look to put up points against a dominant Michigan State defense. Tickets for this matchup are on sale now, with prices beginning at just $19 for a chance to see the explosive Baylor Bears square off against the powerful Spartan team.

12/1/14 - Despite hanging on to beat Texas Tech 48-46 in an exciting game, the Baylor Bears football team now finds itself on the outside looking in for a spot in the first-ever college football playoffs. Despite scoring a victory over Texas Christian University earlier in the season, the committee seemed more impressed with the Horned Frogs’ body of work, and dropped Baylor down to the number 6 seed. Next up for the Bears is the season finale as the Kansas State Wildcats come to Waco for a crucial conference game, and tickets are available starting at $128. Should one of the top 4 seeds manage to lose, a strong showing by quarterback Bryce Petty and company will go a long way towards vaulting the team back into the playoff picture.

11/26/14 - An elite team in college football right now is the Baylor Bears. To date, they have only lost once, sporting an 8-1 record. They are the 7th ranked team in the nation, and they are hoping to keep their winning ways alive in hopes of winning a national championship. Their latest victory last weekend was over Oklahoma. The final score ended up being 48-14, and it was never even really close. A huge reason for their success was because Shock Linwood. He went on to rush for 87 yards and tacked on 2 touchdowns. Their dominant running force has never looked better. Next up for them is a game with Oklahoma State. Tickets for the game are available now, and they are starting out at $98.

11/18/14 - Currently sitting with a record of 8-1, the Baylor Bears Football team is doing well, but still hoping for key losses around the league to complement their upcoming win against the Oklahoma Cowboys. Ranking 1st in overall points, and 3rd in their passing yards, Baylor is in a great position to do some damage this Saturday. The Cowboys are 5-5 which should be good news for a great ranking team like the Bears, but the last thing Oklahoma will want is to slip into a losing record. This struggle is sure to make for an intense game. Razorgator has ticket prices starting at $45 which means that fans still have a chance to get a piece of the action. With only 2 home games remaining in the regular season, fans can’t afford to miss a single moment.

11/10/14 - The Baylor Bears Football team is preparing to host the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and there can be no doubt that the fans are ready for another victory. While keeping their single, humbling loss in mind, the Baylor Bears are the sure to bring their very best to the field for their home fans. With an intimidating offensive front, the Bears plan to send the Cowboys running for the hills, and to distance themselves from the competition in the rankings. Their fresh win against the Oklahoma Sooners can only feed the beast that the Baylor Bears Football team has proven to be this season, and fans won’t want to miss out. Tickets for the Cowboys vs. the Bears game are still available with prices starting at $62 per seat.

11/3/14 - Last Saturday, Baylor rebounded from a crushing loss at West Virginia with a resounding Homecoming victory over the Kansas Jayhawks. Now that QB Bryce Petty and the Bears are back on the winning track, Baylor is entering the home stretch in contention for a second straight Big 12 title and a potential berth in the inaugural college football playoff. With only two home games remaining, time is running out to come out to beautiful McLane Stadium in this 2014 college football season. Two pivotal home contests against the conference rival Oklahoma State Cowboys and Kansas State Wildcats remain. The Kansas State game is the last game of the season and will likely decide the Big 12 champion. Razorgator has the very best seats for Baylor Bears Football, starting at $57.
