Sugar Bowl 2015 News and Updates

2014 Season

12/9/13 - This year’s explosive Sugar Bowl will see two teams rarely pitted against each other: the storied Alabama Crimson Tide and Oklahoma Sooners will be facing off for only their fifth time in history! After Bama’s last-second loss to Auburn for a shot at the National Championship, Nick Saban and company will be hungry for redemption when they play against the Sooners in their ninth BCS bowl appearance, and looking to make memories in the last game for seniors AJ McCarron and CJ Moseley. When compared to other BCS Bowl games, Sugar Bowl tickets are a deal! At $161 to get-in and $319 on average, be there when the Crimson Tide and Sooners square off in the Superdome for the title!

10/18/13 - Get ready for a raucously good time as New Orleans welcomes the nation’s best athletes at the 80th annual Sugar Bowl. The Sugar Bowl typically presents the SEC Championship team against another at-large BCS team to duke it out in Crescent City. So far, predictions are across the board: analysts have pitted the Alabama Crimson Tide opposite the Oregon Ducks, which would be the first time a Pac-12 Team visits the Sugar Bowl, but perhaps more likely, LSU Tigers against Clemson Tigers or Wisconsin Badgers, and South Carolina Gamecocks versus Louisville Cardinals. Sugar Bowl 2014 tickets average $288.

15 Heisman trophy winners have graced the gridiron at the Sugar Bowl, while 46 Hall of Fame coaches have called plays on the sideline; the Superdome has also hosted numerous BCS National Championship games in its 8-decade tenure. The latest championship (2012) showcased #2 Alabama utterly crushing #1 LSU, 21-0 for the crown; both Alabama and LSU have made the most Sugar appearances with 13 apiece. The most recent Sugar Bowl years have seen extremely close games, with an 18 point difference total in the last three matchups. Last year, #21 Louisville led a miraculous upset victory over favored #3 Florida Gators, and the prior year #13 Michigan Wolverines defeated #11 Virginia Tech Hokies.

In October of 2011, the newly renovated Mercedes-Benz Superdome was completed post-Hurricane Katrina. The $85 million venture is now a breathtaking venue hosting a myriad of world-class entertainment and is a landmark of architecture, but more importantly, of strength, for Louisiana and the city that rebuilt itself. Get there early to be a part of the Allstate Fan Jam at Champions Square for a taste of Southern hospitality. With oversized drinks, Cajun food, jazz music and the visiting school’s bands and cheer squads, it’s a three-hour long tailgate right outside of the stadium that is sure to give you a Big Easy-style welcome.
