12/8/15 - The results are in and decisions have been made regarding what college football teams will be heading to a bowl game. This year’s Outback Bowl game will feature the Northwestern Wildcats against the Tennessee Volunteers. The Volunteers are all too familiar with bowl game play, as they have appeared in over 50 bowl games in the history of their program. The Wildcats haven’t been as consistent as the Volunteers, but they have been “bowl eligible” for the last six of seven seasons. 12/9/14 - This year, the Outback Bowl will feature two of the best running teams in the nation. On Thursday, January 1st, the Wisconsin Badgers (18) will face off with the Auburn Tigers (19) at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Wisconsin is expected to use heavy doses of star running back Melvin Gordon, who leads the nation in rushing yards for the season. However, Auburn boast one of the better read-option attacks with the duo of quarterback Nick Marshall and running back Cameron Artis Payne. The Badgers, who are 10-3 this season, look to avenge a late-season shutout in the Big Ten Championship, while Auburn, who are 8-4 overall, try to stop a late-season skid. 12/10/13 – This New Year’s Day bowl game at Raymond James Stadium will feature the LSU Tigers and Iowa Hawkeyes. The Tigers will be without their starting QB Zach Mettenberger who tore his ACL in the season finale against Arkansas. LSU will go with first-time starter Anthony Jennings who came in for Mettenberger against Arkansas to complete the team’s comeback. The coaches have confidence in their true freshman to get them through their postseason slump (lost three of their last four postseason games). Jennings and the Tigers will face one of the top 20 nationally ranked defenses in the Hawkeyes. Standout linebackers James Morris, Anthony Hitchens, and Christian Kirksey have combined for close to 300 tackles (30 for loss). Averaging $193, Outback Bowl tickets are the ninth priciest of the postseason.
