11/16/15 - Can anything stop the Ohio State Buckeyes and Iowa Hawkeyes? Both teams added another victory to their winning resumes over the weekend, sending the undefeated Big Ten Football Championship contenders to 10 – 0 each. Ohio State will be tested this weekend, however, when the feisty Michigan State Spartans come to town. The Spartans are currently in second place behind OSU and Iowa, and they could tie the Buckeyes’ record with a win on Saturday. The Hawkeyes, meanwhile, have a far less threatening matchup in the Purdue Boilermakers at home on Saturday. Come find out if Iowa will slide into first place or if the Buckeyes will hang tough this weekend.
11/9/15 - Although it’s still a few weeks out, excitement is steadily brewing over this year’s Big Ten Football Championship Game. The 9-0 Ohio State Buckeyes continue to lord over the competition in the east, while Iowa remains undefeated in the west. The state of Michigan figures to have their say at some point, with both the Spartans and Wolverines ranking among the top teams. Wisconsin and Northwestern round out the six best squads through the first week of November but with three more games on the schedule, it’s anyone’s guess who’s going to the big game. 11/26/14 - The Big 10 conference showcased a lot of thrilling games last weekend. A top performer was Ohio State, who are ranked 6th in the nation right now. They took on Indianan, and beat them with a final score of 42-27. In their dominant win, J.T. Bennett went on to throw for 302 yards and scored 4 times. He looked great for the entire game, and his efforts will be needed down the stretch for the rest of the season. Michigan State also had a stellar performance against Rutgers, beating them 45-3. Their record is now 9-2, and things seem to be clicking for them both offensively and defensively. Wisconsin also came through down the stretch, beating Iowa 26-24. It was a hard-fought victory. Tickets for the Big Ten Football Championship can be bought right now, and the starting price is $68.
11/18/14 - After Ohio State’s crushing defeat of Michigan State in Week Eleven of college football, contenders for the Big Ten Football Championship are quickly taking shape. The Big Ten East division will likely send Ohio State, with a perfect 6-0 conference record and 9-1 record overall. This has been a huge turnaround for Ohio State after losing starting quarterback Braxton Miller before the season began, and losing to Virginia Tech barely after the season first began. Ohio State would face a to-be determined champ in the Big Ten West division. Likely candidates to win the Big Ten West include Wisconsin (8-2), Minnesota (7-3), Nebraska (8-2), and Iowa (7-3). Wisconsin has the best conference record of 5-1 in the Big Ten West. The Big Ten Championship game will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
11/10/2014 – With Ohio State’s win over Michigan State, things are starting to clear up in the Big Ten Eastern Division. The Buckeyes are the lone team without a conference loss, and with remaining games against Minnesota (tickets from $38), Indiana (tickets from $74) and Michigan (tickets from $145), Ohio State controls its own destiny in a bid for the Big Ten Football Championship Game. In the much-tighter Western Division, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin are tied at 4-1, and all still have yet to play each other. Nebraska and Wisconsin play this weekend (tickets from $62), Minnesota plays Nebraska on November 22 (tickets from $51), and Wisconsin plays Minnesota on November 29 (tickets from $43). The Big Ten Championship Game takes place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on December 6, and tickets are available starting at $63.
9/2/14 - The Big Ten Conference is determined to put and end to their national title drought—but first, the teams will have to go through each other! The Big Ten Championship Game is one of the most feverishly awaited NCAA bouts annually, and last year's competition showcased just how much talent brims the B1G. Will it finally boil over and into the very first College Football Playoff? In 2013, Michigan State put and end to Wisconsin’s Championship Game appearances, taking down Ohio State to claim the title for East Lansing at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Spartans followed up with their first Rose Bowl appearance since 1987 and achieved victory over the Pac-12's toughest, Stanford, in the classic's 100th Anniversary.
Not only does the 2014-2015 season mark the inaugural College Football Playoff, but the B1G welcomes Maryland and Rutgers as new additions to the East and West Divisions. Can Michigan return to the title match after a near ten-year absence? Will Michigan State carry the torch for the conference and earn a spot in the College Football Playoff, or will Urban Meyer and highest-ranked Ohio State (No.6) take the honor? The Big Ten is a tight conference, and will be even more competitive with the two newest schools. Don’t miss the action in Indianapolis on December 6, and score your Big Ten Football Championship tickets now!
11/25/13 – Picking up wins on Saturday, both No. 11 Michigan State Spartans and No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes secured berths in the third annual Big Ten Football Championship Game. It will be the first title game for the Buckeyes and second for the Spartans; the “most exciting title game” will pit Ohio State’s fiery offense against Michigan State’s overpowering defense. The winner of the Amos Alonzo Stagg Championship Trophy will earn a chance to play in Pasadena either for the 100th Rose Bowl game or the BCS National Championship Game held five days later. The last time these two programs met was in the 2012 Big Ten season opener when the Buckeyes managed a 17-16 victory in East Lansing.
10/11/13 - This year, the Big 10 is looking stronger than ever with candidates from the Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Northwestern Wildcats vying for a place in the battle for the coveted BCS National Championship in January. First, the teams must duke it out for a spot in the Big Ten Football Championship game, which falls on December 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Currently, Big Ten Football Championship tickets are as low as $77 in the Upper Terrace Level and jump up to $892 for Club 1 seats!
The Wisconsin Badgers, who have visited the Rose Bowl for the last three years, have fallen to 3-2 almost midway through the season. Following last season’s 12-0 undefeated record, the Ohio State Buckeyes were deemed ineligible to participate in both the 2012 Big Ten Championship game and a bowl game appearance due to an investigation a season prior due to NCAA violations. Ohio State is now making quite a comeback statement, as the Buckeyes are leading the pack with a six game winning streak, hot on their heels are the Michigan Wolverines, 1st in the Legends Division with an undefeated record.
The Big 10 is undeniably one of the two biggest brands in college football, the other being the prodigious SEC conference. Despite their famous rivalry, there has certainly been a drought in championships awarded to the Big 10 in the last decade. The last time a Big Ten team played for the National title, was Ohio State in 2007, while the SEC boasts the last seven titles. This may be the year the Big 10 could win it all, or at least best the SEC, as the Alabama Crimson Tide is the only team in the conference with an undefeated record (5-0).
