NCAA First Four - Dayton News and Updates
Four of the eight teams playing in Dayton on Tuesday and Wednesday will advance to this year's NCAA Tournament. On Tuesday, it's Session 1 with Vanderbilt vs Wichita State and FGCU vs Fairleigh Dickinson. The Commodores / Shockers winner will play Arizona on Thursday, while the Eagles / Knights winner gets top seed North Carolina. Session 2 on Wednesday features Michigan vs Tulsa and Holy Cross vs Southern. The winner of the Wolverines / Golden Hurricane game meets Notre Dame, and the Crusaders / Jaguars winner meets No. 1 Oregon.

2/10/16 - Before the men’s basketball tournament can truly get underway, the field of 64 must be set. The NCAA First Four decides the final entrants for the big dance, and when it all comes down to single-elimination format, all bets are off. Last year’s First Four was highlighted by some of the most competitive games of the year, including Ole Miss sneaking past BYU 94-90, Robert Morris defeating North Florida 81-77 and Dayton surviving Boise State by a score of 56-55. 3/15/15 - Eight teams have been selected to play in this year's play-in games in Dayton at University of Dayton Arena, including the hometown Flyers. Tuesday's matchups feature Manhattan vs Hampton and Ole Miss vs BYU; Wednesday is No. Florida vs Robert Morris and Boise St. vs Dayton. The Manhattan/Hampton winner moves on to play Kentucky; Ole Miss/BYU winner plays Xavier; No. Florida/Robert Morris winner plays Duke; Boise State/Dayton winner plays Providence.
2/11/15 - With March Madness just around the corner, fans can already get tickets for the NCAA 1st Round in Dayton, Ohio. Dayton has hosted the first four games of this single-elimination tournament for the past 13 years, and the teams will be ready to battle it off to see who will make it to the later rounds of play. With the final weeks of the regular season, teams are already working hard to be one of the 64 in the tournament. The first session of games for the NCAA 1st round is on March 17, and you can buy tickets per day or a combined ticket with both days of games. One-day tickets start at $64, while combined tickets start at $378. Once the brackets are announced, tickets will sure to go quickly.
The University of Dayton Arena will remain the host site for the opening (first) round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament through 2015. The First Four, which the first round games of the tournament are named, features four games total - two games on Mar 18 and two on Mar 19 between eight lower-seeded teams. The First Four winners advance to second and third round sites which include: Buffalo, Milwaukee, Orlando, Spokane, Raleigh, San Antonio, San Diego, and St. Louis where they will be matched against other top College Basketball tournament teams based on seed. The inaugural First Four (2011) in Dayton featured VCU; the Rams ended up advancing to the Final Four!
This year marks the 13th consecutive year that the Road to the Final Four has begun in Dayton and could be the first in which the University of Dayton is a participant, playing a home game to open the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Each night, two No. 16 seeds will play for their chance to advance to the Big Dance. Following, contests featuring two of the last four at-large teams selected will battle for the same prize. The University of Dayton is on the bubble in terms of teams that would make the tournament among the last four at-large selections. Different from last year, the City of Dayton will not serve as a second or third round host.
2014 First Four tickets in Dayton are available in an All-Session pass or by day (session). All-Session first round NCAA tournament tickets begin at $114 and will give you access to all four games (eight teams) played Tuesday, March 18 and Wednesday, March 19. Last year, NCAA 1st round – All Session tickets started at a $158 five days before the NCAA Basketball Tournament began, averaging $352.
