3/10/15 - It's not the same Big East but top seeds in the 2015 Big East Tournament (Villanova, Georgetown and Butler) are poised to dance well into this year's NCAA Tournament. Seton Hall plays Marquette tomorrow in the opening round, along with DePaul vs Creighton. One of the best early round Big East games will be Thursday when No. 3 Butler plays No. 6 Xavier. 3/5/15 - As the most important tournaments in men’s collegiate basketball approach, every team is playing their best to continue to boost their season records. The Big East Basketball Tournament is one of the most awaited tournaments of the season and begins on March 11, 2015. Started in 1980, the Big East Tournament has been held in Madison Square Garden since 1983 and is scheduled there again for 2015. The champions of this tournament are granted an automatic bid into the coveted NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament. 2/13/15 - With just a few weeks until the Big East Basketball tournament in Madison Square Garden from March 11 to the 14, the teams are doing their best to end the regular season on top. The first round will be on the 11th with two games, one between the 8th and 9th seed and one between the 7th and 10th seed. The quarterfinals take place the next day, followed by the semifinals and then the finals on the subsequent days. Fans will be tuning into to see if there is a major upset like last years defeat of number one Villanova by Seton Hall. Currently, Villanova is one again in the top place, followed by Butler and Georgetown. Tickets are one sale for the tournament games, with single sessions starting at $23 and the full tournament starting at $223.
2014 marks the 35th Big East Tournament but the first for current members led by #6 Villanova Wildcats and #12 Creighton. Newbies Creighton, Xavier, and Butler were added to the Big East in an effort to keep the Conference among college basketball’s best. The reformed Big East, made up of 10 teams, will hold its tournament at Madison Square Garden March 12 – 15. Like the Big 12 Tournament, the Big East Tournament encompasses four rounds – first (seeds 7-10 only), quarterfinals, semifinals, finals – with the Champion earning an automatic big into the NCAA Tournament.
