ACC Basketball Tournament 2016 News and Updates

1/18/16 - After three straight titles for the Duke Blue Devils, the ACC Basketball Tournament title has been traded between four teams in four years: Florida State in 2012, Miami in ’13, Virginia in ’14 and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish last season. At this early juncture of 2016, it’s somewhat difficult to envision Duke winning their 20th overall tourney championship—the Devils have been up and down, perhaps as much as they’ve ever been in the Coach K era. They do still hold two more tournament wins than the next team on the list, North Carolina, although at this point, the Tar Heels would definitely be considered favorites. 2015 Season

3/10/15 - The 2015 ACC Tournament tips off in Greensboro, NC this week, with the top seeds (Virginia, Duke, Notre Dame, Louisville) playing on Thursday, March 12. No. 1 seed Virginia will play the Clemson / Florida State winner. No. 2 seed Duke could play in-state rival NC State if the Wolfpack defeat Pittsburgh. Duke and long-time rival North Carolina can only meet in the ACC Championship game. Boston College knocked out Georgia Tech 66-65 earlier today, becoming the first team to advance. BC plays UNC tomorrow. Wednesday's ACC Tournament tickets start at $10.

3/2/15 - Started in 1954, the Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball Tournament is highly anticipated for many fans and colleges and is right around the corner. Teams are chosen to go to the admired tournament based off of their regular season records. Rules of the tournament are simple; single round elimination with one undefeated team still standing in the end. Last year’s champions, Virginia, are looking for another title as they enter the tournament as the number one seed. Duke and Notre Dame are close on Virginia’s heels and are chomping at the bit for a chance at the trophy. Tickets for the thrilling and memorable tournament are on sale today. The tournament starts on March 10 and goes until March 14 in Greensboro, NC.

2/9/15 - The post season for Men's NCAA tournament is just a few weeks away. As the Atlantic Coast Conference teams look towards making one of the slots in the ACC Basketball Tournament, fans can already get tickets for the games. The first round of play is set for Wednesday, March 11, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Virginia remains the top seed of the conference. Syracuse will not be entering the tournament play due to a recently announced self-imposed post-season ban due to the ongoing NCAA investigation into the school's athletics. This not only takes them out of the brackets, but it also alters the schedule because there will be just 14 teams, so the opening round will only have two games. Tickets are on sale for individual sessions (starting at $29) and all sessions (starting at $402).

2014 Season

There is no denying the strength of ACC Basketball. With five teams in the Top 25, the Atlantic Coast Conference is arguably the best in the Nation again in 2014. Like all Conferences, the ACC has had its fair share of struggles this season, but Saturday’s college basketball game between undefeated No. 2 Syracuse and No. 17 Duke cemented that the ACC is one to watch out for come March. The Orange outlasted the Blue Devils 91-89 in OT, playing one of the best conference games in a long time on a National stage. It was a sneak peek into the ACC Tournament where we are guaranteed to see elite basketball from the later round teams. Now number one in the Country, the Syracuse Orange (22-0) are primed for the NCAA Tournament on their journey to the Final Four.

Last year, the Miami Hurricanes took the crown in the ACC Tournament, receiving the League’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. It was the final year that the Conference Tournament would be played among 12 teams; as this year, the Pittsburgh Panthers, Syracuse Orange, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish have joined the Conference to total a massive 15 teams. 2014 Tournament play begins March 12 at Greensboro Coliseum with the tournament’s Championship game on March 16. All-Session ACC Tournament tickets range from $384 - $2,838 and will get you into four days of action (TR-Sun). Wednesday's Opening Day tickets are sold separate and includes three games (seeds 10-15) and a concert by country music star Scotty McCreery. Single session tickets are available today; each session in the second, quarterfinals, and semifinal rounds are comprised of two games. The top four seeds – currently Syracuse, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Duke- receive a second round bye, so the first time we will see the best-of-the-best will be Friday in the quarterfinals. The first round, played on Wednesday, will feature seeds 10-15. The winners and seeds 5-9 will square off in the second round of the ACC tournament on Thursday. Grab your All-Session tickets and watch ACC's best compete to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive!
