North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball 2014-2015 News and Updates

11/24/14 - The #6 North Carolina Tar Heels defeated the Davidson College Wildcats this past Saturday, winning 90-72 in Charlotte, NC. North Carolina’s sophomore forward Kennedy Meeks totaled 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Heels' win. Next up, the Tar Heels head to sunny Paradise Island in the Bahamas to compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament on November 26th, 27th and 28th. North Carolina is back to the friendly confines of Chapel Hill on Wednesday, December 3rd, to take on the always dangerous Iowa Hawkeyes in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The two teams last met ten years ago, and have only met four times previously in their programs’ histories. On Sunday, December 7th, the Tar Heels host the East Carolina Pirates at the Smith Center. Get your tickets now for an upcoming game and cheer on the nationally ranked Tar Heels. Prices start at only $19!

11/21/14 - When people think of greatness, they think of the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team. Things are already looking promising for them, who are now 2-0. Their latest win was against RMU, which ended with a final score of 103-59. It wasn’t even close. A huge reason for that was because of Brice Johnson, who ended up scoring 23 points with 8 rebounds. He did very well at blocking out his opponents, allowing him to record numerous rebounds for second-chance points. It’s this type of effort that the Tar Heels need to really make a statement this season. Meeks also had a great game, tacking on 21 points to help the 6th ranked team in the nation prevail. Up next for them is a game against DAV, a game that they will be hoping to dominate as well. Tickets for the November 22 game are available now, with a starting price of $71.

11/13/14 - The North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team is looking to come out strong against the North Caroline Central Eagles at their season opener on Friday, November 14th. The Tar Heels hope to come out strong in their initial game by starting power forwards Brice Johnson and Kennedy Meeks, who played together well last season. The Tar Heels were originally looking to start James Michael McAdoo in one of the starting forward positions, but he decided to go pro and leave an opening for Brice Johnson to come in. After their opener against North Carolina Central, the Tar Heels will face the Robert Morris PA Colonials on Sunday, November 16th. While tickets are currently sold out for the season opener, Sunday’s game has some openings available starting at $7.

2013-2014 Season

2/7/14 – The Tar Heels have won four straight, their longest winning streak this season, and following their road game against Notre Dame Saturday will host cross-town rival No.11 Duke (avg. $158) and #StripeOut against No.25 Pittsburgh (avg. $78). Consistency is what Coach Roy Williams has preached to his young men, and in the last four games the players have delivered. The new, more offensive-minded Tar Heels lineup has found their rhythm and are showing urgency, confidence, and swagger on the court. Will UNC’s momentum carry into next week? Don’t miss the North Carolina Tar Heels remaining Conference games at Dean Smith Center this season- tickets are as low as $29.

1/3/14 - The North Carolina Tar Heels suffered a few tough losses to unranked teams to start off their season, but they’ve also accumulated perhaps the biggest wins of any team in the Nation. The Tar Heels have beaten the then-No.1 Michigan State, then-No.3 Louisville, and preseason No.1-ranked Kentucky in their arduous early season play. Ask any of the three basketball powerhouses, and they’ll tell you the Heels are a force to be reckoned with. More recently, North Carolina gutted the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, 51-84, marking the school’s 2,100th victory, and a fitting way to close out their nonconference play. NC is sitting with a 10-3 record and increased optimism at taking the conference title as they gear up for their conference schedule. The Heels are slated to take on Wake Forest for their opening ACC game this Sunday, followed by a visit from the Miami Hurricanes on Jan 8: tickets start at $27. The biggest game at Dean Smith Center will come against rival Duke on February 12 where tickets are averaging $236. Grab your North Carolina Tar Heels tickets now as they roll into ACC games with more discipline than other opponents, having three significant victories already under their belt!

Last season, the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team finished third in the ACC with a 12-6 record. The squad advanced to the ACC Tournament but lost to Miami and later played in the NCAA Tournament where they reached the third round. While the Tar Heels lost Reggie Bullock to the NBA Draft and senior Dexter Strickland, UNC picked up five star recruit Isaiah Hicks in addition to, two four star recruits Nate Britt and Kennedy Meeks. North Carolina starts their season in one month and they hope to have PJ Hairston back on the court.

North Carolina’s basketball schedule is tough right from the get-go. The team will play at the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament which will likely finish with a game against reigning National Champs, Louisville. The Heels will also take on Michigan State on the road in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge game and host Kentucky mid-December. All three opponents are preseason top 5 favorites and each matchup is a top non-conference College Basketball game based on average ticket price. The most expensive game on the North Carolina Tar Heels schedule this season is against rival Duke (avg. $813). Like last year, it's the most expensive College Basketball game in NCAA. Tar Heels basketball tickets are currently averaging $259, $113 more than they did in the previous season. Both Duke and Miami tickets are more expensive in 2013 than UNC Tar Heels tickets.
