Kentucky Wildcats Basketball 2014-2015 News and Updates

2013-2014 Season

2/7/14 – With the exception of last year, Coach John Calipari has taken his Wildcats to at least the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament every season. And while the highly regarded freshman class may not be living up to expectations as a whole, Kentucky is not to be counted out of a deep tourney run. Proof of that came Saturday against Missouri. While the final score may not have told the real story here, the team – not five individuals – did. As a collective unit, the Kentucky Wildcats are a dangerous team! Support the Cats in the final four regular season games at Rupp Arena, two of which will come against teams who have already outscored the Cats earlier in the season. Kentucky Wildcats tickets against the Florida Gators are the most expensive of the bunch, averaging $344 while Wildcats tickets versus the LSU Tigers are a mere $127.

1/3/14 - After recruiting some of the most sought after freshman, Kentucky’s highly touted roster has hit a few snags in the road earlier this season. Julius Randle has shown great maturity and skill in his consistent play, but the Harrison twins and James Young were still struggling with cohesion up until the biggest college basketball game of the season, when Kentucky took on Louisville rivals at Rupp Arena this past weekend. The national champ showdown between two storied schools provided a stunning outcome as the Cats defeated the Cards 73-66 for their first win against a ranked team this season, and one with considerably more experience. With their most convincing win yet, the Wildcats are on the road to taking the SEC, and proved to themselves and devoted fans, that if they work together, the No. 1 seed is positively attainable. With an improved 10-3 record heading into Southeastern Conference play, the rookie team is finally hitting its stride, gearing up for Missouri, Tennessee and Florida on their schedule. Kentucky Wildcats tickets start at $43 in the Upper Level and reach upwards of $188 in the Lower Level when KU tackles their first division opponents in the New Year, the Mississippi State Bulldogs, on January 8. Score KU basketball tickets today and ensure the boys a winning start to their SEC season!

Kentucky Wildcats Basketball 2014-2015 Season

2013-2014 Season

Head coach John Calipari, known as the best recruiter in college basketball, “hit the jackpot” in 2013 with his five-star freshman recruits, a set that quickly became known as the best freshman class on paper in NCAAB history. The Wildcats have the most all-time wins and NCAA Tournament appearances and rank second (just behind UCLA) in championships. Over the summer, the Kentucky Wildcats have emerged as the team to beat in the coming season, and national championship hopes are high.

Calipari is confident, intending to take his squad to 40-0 on the season. UK will begin their run on Nov 8 at North Carolina-Asheville, and will begin the Statefarm Champions Classic on Nov 12 against Michigan State in one of the best non-conference games this season. The first SEC play will come on Jan 8 against Mississippi State. Get ready for Big Blue Madness and witness history in the making as the Wildcats eRUPPt Lexington at Rupp Arena!

Though, the young team’s inexperience left UK unranked last year, finishing 12-6 in the SEC, after an astounding loss at Robert Morris in the opening NIT round. This season the Wildcats have been ranked #1 in the preseason coaches’ poll—the first team in the poll’s history to have been unranked last season, jumping to #1 the next. Expect great things from the six All-American freshman players (including Julius Randle, and twins Aaron & Andrew Harrison) who may all start at the same time, filling the holes left by Archie Goodwin (Phoenix Suns) and Nerlens Noel (Philadelphia 76ers) to the NBA. Also in the line-up, are two NBA first-round-talent returners Alex Poythress and athletic defender Willie Cauley-Stein, who will compete with recruits James Young and Dakari Johnson for starting positions at forward and center.
