Indiana Hoosiers Basketball 2014-2015 News and Updates

2013-2014 Season

2/7/14 – The Hoosiers are coming off a big win against No.10 Michigan; shooting 54 percent and getting big contributions from starters. Yogi Ferrell made seven of eight from beyond the arch and Noah Vonleh added a key 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead the unranked Hoosiers to a much needed upset. The second victory over a top 10 opponent, the Hoosiers helped their chances for an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament. But, they’ll need more if they want to make the big dance. With nine games left in the season, four at home, come cheer on the men in candy-striped pants as they finish out Conference play at Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers are 13-4 at home this season and routinely put on a good show for their fans!

1/2/14 - The Hoosiers suffered a crushing loss to Notre Dame a couple weeks ago, followed by freshman center Luke Fischer’s announcement of his leave to transfer to another school, but Indiana will bounce right back. With excellent play from Yogi Ferrell, the team’s leading scorer, their prolific rebound margin abetted by improved play from freshman big man Noah Vonleh, Indiana is a formidable opponent for any Big Ten opponent. Considering the squad lost four of their five starters from last year, the young buck team is making up for their inexperience with speed: ranked 11th in pace, the Hoosiers play an incredibly quick game, and the boys have the green light to improve upon their 10-3 schedule with some conference play. In a couple weeks they’ll have a rematch against the Illinois Fighting Illini who they lost to on the road New Years Eve. Get your Indiana Hoosiers tickets now! The next few weeks are critical for the Hoosiers, who must secure more key victories to advance them from the middle of the ranks in the Big Ten conference.

10/25/13 - Hoosier Hysteria is back in action! The annual first public practice granted some insight into this season’s defending Big Ten Champions, a squad that is routinely one of the most promising basketball teams to come out of the Big Ten. With head coach Tom Crean, the Hoosiers have made the NCAA tournament for two consecutive years and are always in the Top 25. Last year, Indiana lost in the Sweet 16, despite being ranked in the top 5 for the majority of the season, but they will return for contention with a nearly all-new squad this year.

The Hoosiers have a promising group of young men donning the iconic candy-striped pants this year: Indiana will debut six freshman and three sophomores—a young team indeed. With the departure of Cody Zeller to the Charlotte Bobcats and Victor Oladipo to the Orlando Magic, newcomers Luke Fischer, with his stature and strength, and Noah Vonleh, the highest ranked recruit in his class, are expected to make big strides in their stead. They are corralled by the most experienced player on the court, senior Will Sheehey (last season’s Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year), and sophomore Yogi Ferrell, one of the foremost point guards in the nation.
