Georgetown Hoyas Basketball 2013-2014 News and Updates
2/7/14 – February is looking up for the Hoyas after a disappointing January. Georgetown finished last month with five straight losses and saw UCLA transfer Josh Smith suspended because of academics. But, one month before March Madness, and the Hoyas upset No.7 Michigan State last weekend and took down DePaul two days later. The next four games on the Georgetown Hoyas basketball schedule are certainly winnable with Butler, Providence, St. John's and Seton Hall on the horizon. Nothing is out of the question for the Georgetown Hoyas if they can regain some confidence and find a presence in the pain, but the Big East tournament is looking to be Georgetown’s best chance to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
1/3/14 - The Georgetown Hoyas are currently 4th in the Big East, with three early losses to their record this season, two to ranked teams. The Hoyas won their Big East opener, 61-54, over DePaul on New Years Eve, despite a number of clumsy turnovers and lackluster scoring in the first half. Georgetown snapped out of it, with the help of co-captain Markel Starks, who scored a game-high 21 points. Georgetown Hoyas tickets playing host to St. Johns Red Storm on January 4 start at $18, their marquee January 27 matchup with the Villanova Wildcats
starts at $29, while their big Super Bowl weekend game at Madison Square Garden against powerhouse Michigan State looms on the horizon. Get in on the Fighting Hoyas action as they partake in new-look Big East play this season!
10/25/13 - The storied Georgetown Hoyas are in for an exciting season, picked #2 in the Big East by the Coaches poll, just behind Marquette. Last season, spearheaded by coach John Thompson III, the Hoyas were the top overall seed for the Big East Tournament and finished #2 seeds in the NCAA Tournament, ultimately upset by Florida Gulf Coast. The Hoyas are hoping to brush off their post-season blues, being eliminated for five consecutive years by double-digit seeds, eyeing the Big East title with an optimistic and seasoned squad.
