Oklahoma City Thunder News – 2013 Thunder Updates

3/22/13 - Oklahoma City has already earned a spot in the upcoming NBA Playoffs. If the NBA Playoffs started today, the Thunder would face James Harden and the Houston Rockets. OKC leads the regular season series 2-1. Tickets for the NBA Playoffs First Round (Game 1) at Chesapeake Energy Arena range from $118 - $1295. Still on the team's radar - clinching the Division. The Thunder have two games against the San Antonio Spurs left on their home schedule; the Spurs are the only team ahead of the Thunder in the Western Conference. The most expensive regular season game remaining at Chesapeake Energy Arena is not when San Antonio comes to town however, it's when the New York Knicks visit. Tickets to see the Knicks in OKC are averaging $261.

Since pulling up stakes and leaving Seattle for Oklahoma City after the 2007-08 season (much to the chagrin of longtime Seattle SuperSonics supporters), the Oklahoma City Thunder have been on a steady upward progression: out of the playoffs their first year in Oklahoma; then a first round knockout at the hands of the Lakers; advancing to the Western Conference finals the next season; and last season making the NBA Finals, only to fall to the Miami Heat. Much of this steady improvement can be laid at the feet of All-Star Kevin Durant, who leads the NBA in scoring, while point guard Russell Westbrook is among league leaders in assists and steals — all of which contributes to a league-leading team points per game average. On the defensive side, much of the heavy work is being done by power forward Serge Ibaka, who leads the team in rebounding and blocked shots (second league-wide in blocks). The Thunder are also getting key contributions from Thabo Sefolosha and Kendrick Perkins; and Kevin Martin off the bench. All in all, coach Scott Brooks has all the tools in place — while also picking up the veteran Derek Fisher for the stretch drive — to raise a banner at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Can they get the job done this year? Only time will tell.

OKC Thunder tickets average $200 at Chesapeake Energy Arena, the 4th most expensive NBA tickets this season. Upcoming games on the 2013 Oklahoma City Thunder schedule with higher than average ticket prices include the Los Angeles Lakers $325, Boston Celtics $264, New York Knicks $258, Portland Trail Blazers $239, and Denver Nuggets $221. Thunder faithful wanting to score cheap Oklahoma City Thunder tickets will find seats from $35 at select home games versus opponents like the Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards. On the road, Thunder basketball is popular too. Away game tickets average $156, $44 less per ticket than at home in OKC, but still the 4th most expensive road game NBA tickets in 2013.
