Atlanta Hawks News - 2013 Hawks Basketball Updates
4/1/13 - For the 6th straight season the Atlanta Hawks secure a spot in the NBA Playoffs
. If the Playoffs started today, the Hawks would matchup against the New York Knicks
, a team they’ll play two days from now at Phillips Arena
. The matchup is the most expensive home game left on the Hawks schedule and is more than double the average price of the next most expensive game. If Atlanta wants to make a run deep into the Playoffs, they’ll need their big men Al Horford and Josh Smith to lead the way. Hawks playoff tickets went on sale to the general public this morning.
Expected to be active at the NBA's trade deadline, the Atlanta Hawks made one minor deal, while retaining their leading scorer Josh Smith — despite leaguewide interest — for the stretch run. Currently the Hawks stand second in the Southeast Division, but well back of the pacesetting Miami Heat
, and in the lower half of the playoff chase in the Eastern Conference overall. In addition to Smith, Hawks offensive output comes from center Al Horford, the team's leading rebounder and shot-blocker; and point guard Jeff Teague, who paces the team in assists and steals; Kyle Korver also chips in with offensive contributions. Devin Harris, Zaza Pachulia, and DeShawn Stevenson provide added support off the bench. The team stands in the middle of the league in both points scored per game average, and points allowed per game, averaging just shy of 97 points per game while allowing just over 96. If the Hawks can keep winning, they will be in a solid position in the playoffs, where the Philips Arena crowds can cheer the home team deep into this season’s playoffs.
Atlanta Hawks tickets at Phillips Arena average $50 in 2013, one of the best NBA tickets deals this season. By comparison, the NBA tickets average is $104. Hawks home games with the Los Angeles Lakers
, New York Knicks, and Brooklyn Nets
, however, average $205, $130, and $104. Popular games on the 2013 Atlanta Hawks schedule with cheap Hawks basketball tickets include the Dallas Mavericks
, Philadelphia 76ers
, and Portland Trail Blazers
. Hawks tickets on the road average $97, almost double the price of admission in Atlanta.
