SF Giants News - 2013 Giants Baseball Updates

When the San Francisco Giants claimed the 2012 World Series, it marked a stunning display of teamwork, as well as luck. Down two games to none in the Division Series round to the Cincinnati Reds, who needed to win only one of three home games to advance, the Giants achieved an historic sweep over the Reds, before knocking off the 2011 Series champs from St. Louis — who held a 3-1 series lead at one point! — in a seven-game NLCS. The Giants had the fortune of holding home field advantage in the World Series, thanks to the NL's win in the All-Star Game earlier in the summer, and used that as a launching pad to a four-game sweep of the Detroit Tigers.

Until he was suspended by MLB for a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs, outfielder Melky Cabrera was leading the Giants in several offensive statistics; eventual NL MVP Buster Posey provided the power in the lineup while also leading in OPS (on-base plus slugging). A big question for the 2013 season is whether Tim Lincecum's off year in 2012 was just a one-time thing or a potential issue in 2013? If Lincecum is not able to return to his Cy Young winning form from 2008-09, the Giants still have a pair of top starters in 16-game winners Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner. SF Giants tickets at AT&T Park average $25-$1,245 in 2013 — from seats in the Reserve Outfield to Lower Boxes. Will you be at Opening Day on April 5th? Cheap tickets to the Giants home opener versus the St. Louis Cardinals start at $128. Ticket prices are as low as $57 to see each of the other two games in the San Francisco Giants opening series.
