Philadelphia Phillies News – 2013 Phillies Updates
4/4/13 – The Philadelphia Phillies added versatile outfielder Ezequiel Carrera Tuesday off waivers from the Cleveland Indians. The Phillies newest acquisition led the majors with 11 stolen bases (of 13 attempts) this Spring. Phillies fans will get a chance to see their beloved team at home tomorrow when Philadelphia plays their first home game this season at
Citizens Bank Park against the
Kansas City Royals. The Interleague series is the most expensive game on the Phillies schedule averaging $132, down $20 a seat in the last two months. Following the Royals series, the Phillies will host the
New York Mets. In the last decade the two National League East division rivals have fought for Playoff spots and for that reason, some consider the rivalry the hottest in the NL. Tickets to see the Mets play at Citizens Bank Park are averaging $57, under the team’s average ticket price in April of $63 (fifth most expensive in MLB). The most expensive series this month at Citizens Bank Park is against the
St. Louis Cardinals, a team that beat the Phillies in the NLDS two years ago and went on to win the World Series. Lastly, the
Pittsburgh Pirates will visit Philly for a four-game series in late April. You can catch the intrastate rivals live for under $10 as it is (surprisingly) the cheapest Phillies regular season series at home.
From 2007 - 2011, the Philadelphia Phillies won five straight National League East division titles. However, in 2012 a lackluster bullpen, amongst other issues, prevented the 2008 World Series Champions from a sixth consecutive NL East division title.
We'll begin to get a better idea of 2013 as the Phillies report to Spring Training in Clearwater, Florida. Who will start in the outfield? Can Roy Halladay rebound this season? Phillies Spring Training tickets are about half the cost to see the team play at Citizens Bank Park during the regular season in Philadelphia; the average price of a Phillies
Spring Training ticket at Bright House Field will cost you $47, the 8th most expensive in the League.
The Phillies schedule boasts prime Interleague matchups in 2013, including series against the Kansas City Royals and
Boston Red Sox . Phillies single game tickets went on sale February 13, 2013. At that time, the average Philadelphia Phillies home ticket on the secondary market was $88; the average away ticket was $68 — both were 8th most expensive in the
MLB. See a trend here? The most expensive month to grab a ticket to watch a Phillies game is July. The average Phillies July ticket at home is $98, and series include the
Atlanta Braves,
Washington Nationals, and
Chicago White Sox.
