New York Mets 2016 News and Updates
Following a run for the World Series title in 2015, the New York Mets have started this season somewhat flat. With four losses in a row, the Mets haven’t won since their home opening on Thursday when they beat the Phillies 7-2. The rest of the series went poorly, as did the beginning of the run against Marlins early this week. After a day off Thursday, the Mets are hoping to regain some footing in Cleveland this weekend. They’ll continue the road trip in Philly early next week before returning home against the Reds April 25-27. Despite the disappointing start, there’s still a lot of ball left to be played. Get your tickets to cheer on the Mets at Citi Field from us today!
The New York Mets hit the green grass against the Kansas City Royals this week for their first game of the season. For all Mets fans and the team alike, the 2-0 win over the Royals was a relief and possibly a sign of what the future beholds. The highlight player of the game was Noah Syndergaard, the Mets pitcher. He is one of the youngest, most talented pitchers in the league and he showed off his talents on Tuesday night. Get tickets for the home opener being held on April 8 against the Philadelphia Phillies. Tickets are still up for grabs to see the star pitcher and his team live and start at $67 each.
The New York Mets are just about ready for Opening Day! Pitcher Matt Harvey and the rest of the team have been blazing through Spring Training and looking good while doing it. In fact, Harvey was recently featured on Forbes for his fashionable peak lapel suits and sports jackets. He also spoke about the 2016, saying the Mets were busy preparing for a rare clash with the Toronto Blue Jays. New York will play their first game of the season at home on Friday, April 8 against the Philadelphia Phillies. Tickets are already on sale and available for purchase starting at $103 and up. Don’t miss the 2016 season kickoff!
3/17/16 - It is nearly time for the New York Mets to take the field again in an all new season. Fans are just three weeks away, but they can still catch the Mets in action during the preseason. Right now, the Mets have won six and lost six preseason games. Come out and show your support as they get ready for the real thing. Tickets for the next home game, on March 20th against the Boston Red Sox, start at $37. Be sure to get your tickets for the home opener on April 8th against the Philadelphia Phillies now. Tickets are still available starting at $137. It is sure to be an exciting game that will set the tone for the entire season.
10/21/15 - With a sweep of the Cubs, the New York Mets have advanced to the World Series for the first time since 2000. New York's first World Series home game will be Friday, October 30 against the winner of the Blue Jays vs Royals ALCS series. World Series games 4 and 5 (if necessary) will also be played at Citi Field.
10/13/15 - No Ruben? No problem for the New York Mets, who thrashed the L.A. Dodgers on Monday night, 13-7. Two days removed from a hard slide by Chase Utley that broke the leg of starting shortstop Ruben Tejada, the Mets answered back with an offensive flourish that put Los Angeles on the verge of yet another early playoff exit. Citi Field booed Utley mercilessly in pre-game announcements, and although he was not active, the Mets faithful certainly exercised some pent-up frustration. NY will host Game 4 in hopes of closing out the series Tuesday. If necessary, Game 5 takes place at Dodger Stadium. Secure your tickets for the final games of the NLDS today!
10/8/15 - It’s a great time to be a fan of the New York Mets. Boasting a starting rotation that features Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Bartolo Colon, and Noah Syndergaard, the Mets figure to be a tough matchup for any team this postseason. Add in the power bats of players like Yoenis Cespedes and David Wright and it becomes clear that New York is a legitimate threat in 2015. They’ll definitely have their hands full going up against the Dodgers, whose top two pitchers are as sharp as any in baseball. You can score playoff tickets for Game 3 at Citi Field today! Seats start at $251 and they’re selling fast, so don’t delay!
10/1/15 - It is no surprise that the New York Mets are one of the top teams in the league. The season is nearly over and they currently have a record of 89-68. Unusually, however, the Mets end the season with some home games, taking on the Washington Nationals, so they still have a great opportunity to improve their record even more. After that, the Mets very well may go on to compete in the National League Division Series or the World Series. Nothing is set in stone, but the Mets ended at the top of their league, with nine wins between them and the next trailing team, so their chances are good.
9/24/15 - Topping the leader board in the NL Eastern Division, things are looking good for the New York Mets this season. Currently they are playing in a series of four games on the road against the Cincinnati Reds. They played their first game on September 24, and were able to bring home the away game victory. Despite the Reds scoring early in the first inning, the Mets brought everything they had to score three runs in the top of the third. Their magic inning was during the seventh when Daniel Murphy launched a RBI triple that tied the game. Thanks to Lucas Duda’s successful time at the plate, the Mets brought in three total runs to win the game. Watch them live for their second game against the Reds on September 25. Tickets are still for sale.
9/16/15 - The New York Mets remain first in the NL East division, despite seeing their long, eight game winning streak broken by the Marlins. The Mets beat the Marlins 4-3 in the first of three games, but they found themselves unable to continue their winning momentum the next night. The Marlins had two three run innings and held the Mets to just three runs throughout the game. The next night, the Mets were shutout by the Marlins. However, the Mets still have a 7.5 game lead over the Nationals, who are second in the division. The Mets play the Yankees next in a three game series that starts on the 18th. You can still get your tickets to see these New York rivals play one another at Citi Field, with prices starting at $38.
9/10/15 - Right now, the fight for the New York Mets is to keep their distance from the other teams. The Mets have secured the top spot in the division, and are trying to hang on to it. The Washington Nationals are about eight wins away in second place, so they Mets have done an excellent job building up a lead. Still, in the middle of a tough series of away games, anything is possible. Luckily, it will not be long before they are back on their own field. The Mets are currently on a four-game winning streak. They will return on September 14th to host the Miami Marlins. Tickets start at $8. Be sure to secure your spot in the stands and cheer the Mets to victory during their first game back in New York.
9/4/15 - The New York Mets are proud of their record this season as they top the leader board of the NL East division with 74 wins and 59 losses. The Mets are surely proving themselves to the baseball world as they continue to win series after series. This past week they finished up a three-game series against the Phillies and were able to win two of the three games on the road. The game on September 3 went especially well for the Mets as they brought in a run almost every inning of the game. They left the field with a score of 9-4 and hit the road again to head into another nine games away. Watch them live in Miami as they take on the Marlins starting on September 5.
8/25/15 - The New York Mets have won the last five games in a row, including all three games against the Rockies and the first two of four game series against the Phillies. The first game seemed to be in the Phillies' favor until the Mets had a three run fourth inning followed by a four run fifth and sixth that helped the final score of 16-7. The next night was a much closer game. The Mets were the first to score, with two runs in the first followed by another in the second. They lost their early lead when the Phillies scored four runs in the fourth but then battled back to draw ahead and win 6-5. The two teams meet again on the 26th and 27th, and you can still get tickets for prices starting at $15.
8/20/15 - Getting swept by the Pirates wasn’t in the plans for the New York Mets, but the NL East-leading squad responded on Wednesday behind another outstanding performance from Jacob deGrom. The Mets starter picked up his 12th win of the season with a five-hit, six-strikeout turn, as newcomer Tyler Clippard bridged the game to Jeurys Familia for the save. NY will play one more interleague game in Baltimore before resuming National League play this weekend. Starting Monday 8/24, the Mets face off with Philadelphia in a four-game set, and you can secure you tickets for each contest now! Get in to Citizens Bank Park starting at $19 for Mets vs. Phillies on Monday evening—deGrom is scheduled to start against Adam Morgan in what’s sure to be an intriguing matchup.
8/13/15 - It’s been a long time since the Miracle Mets stormed to a 100-62 record and the World Series Championship—over 45 years, in fact. However, the 2015 New York Mets have people talking like Gil Hodges is still manning the dugout, as the recent talent-injecting trades have revitalized hopes in the Big Apple of a deep playoff run. The first-place Mets are on a three-game streak with just a pair of losses in their last 11 games. Yoenis Cespedes, as expected, has shined offensively for NY, giving the promising young team a huge shot in the arm as they gear up for the stretch run. The Mets will head to Baltimore for a quick two-game interleague set with the Orioles starting Tuesday, but you can get your tickets right now! Seats start at just $6 for the opener!
8/5/15 - The New York Mets have been performing incredibly well lately. Currently, the Mets have won their last six consecutive matches. While they have won most of their matches by one or two runs, the Mets dominated the Miami Marlins in their first away game in a couple weeks. They managed to score in four different innings for a total of 12 runs. The Mets have just a couple more away games against the Tampa Bay Rays before returning to their home field on August 10th to host the Colorado Rockies. If they are able to win all the matches before returning to New York, the Mets could be in position to create a very impressive winning streak. Tickets for their first game back start at $15.
7/29/15 - The New York Mets hit the road this week in hopes of bringing home more wins to add to their second place NL East Division record. They took on the Nationals and the series wasn’t a complete disappointment. The Mets were able to pull off a huge 7-2 win against the Nationals, but also lost two games as well. They head home now to start a four-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Mets have had an incredible season at home and want that to continue with this next series. With each win the Mets are getting closer to taking the NL East first place spot away from the Nationals. Watch them live against the Dodgers this weekend. Baseball is the perfect summer night activity so get your tickets today.
7/22/15 - The New York Mets hit the road this week in hopes of bringing home more wins to add to their second place NL East Division record. They took on the Nationals and the series wasn’t a complete disappointment. The Mets were able to pull off a huge 7-2 win against the Nationals, but also lost two games as well. 7/15/15 - The New York Mets just finished an impressive series on the road. All across the league, teams have been struggling with away games lately, but the Mets managed to win four out of six matchups when playing the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants these last couple weeks. Even better, the Mets have been undefeated since returning to New York. Most recently, they beat out the Arizona Diamondbacks by two points in each of their three matchups. Now, the Mets are hitting the road, first traveling to St. Louis to take on the league leader, the Cardinals. They are just one win away from the top of the NL Eastern Division and nine wins behind the Cardinals. Coming out on top in this matchup would put the Mets much closer to the top of the entire league.
7/9/15 - It’s been a resurgent year for the New York Mets and a great season for starter Jacob deGrom, who punched his ticket to Cincinnati where he’ll represent his squad in the 2015 All-Star Game. In his second season for New York, deGrom is picking up right where he left off in 2014, maintaining a 2.30 ERA with eight wins in 16 appearances on the mound. As a team, the Mets have enjoyed a nice week, taking two of three each from the Giants and Dodgers on the road to finish 4-2 in six games away from Citi Field. They’ll head back home this weekend to face off with the Diamondbacks in three games and tickets are available for each contest now! Get in on Saturday afternoon from $19 or check out the Sunday matinee starting at $18.
7/2/15 - The New York Mets didn’t fare well against the Cubs this week, as they dropped three straight after having completed a sweep of the Reds at home. Their offense sputtered in a big way, managing just a single run in three contests as the team fell to 40-40 overall. New York is 4-6 over their last 10 outings and although they remain in second in the NL East, Atlanta is quietly creeping up the standings. The Mets will look to get back in gear with a pair of crucial National League series, starting with the Dodgers this weekend. After L.A., it’s northbound to the Bay Area where NY will tangle with the champs in San Francisco. Get your tickets for Mets vs. Giants on Tuesday night—seats start at just $9 for AT&T Park!
6/25/15 - The New York Mets cannot seam to break their six game losing streak. They were unable to beat the Braves in a three game series, despite some close games. In the first of three games against the Brewers, it looked as though they had a chance. Although the Brewers were the first to get on the board, the Mets were able to score a run in the third and fourth inning to gain the lead. However, an error in the seventh by Michael Cuddyer allowed the Brewers to score the go ahead run, and the Mets were unable to equalize. The Mets have two more chances to beat the Brewers in this series before they head home to play against the Reds. Tickets for all games are still available, with prices starting at $2.
6/17/15 - With a 36-30 record, the New York Mets have the lead in the NL East. They’re on a three-game winning streak, as they go out on the road to face the Toronto Blue Jays, the Atlanta Braves, and then the Milwaukee Brewers before coming home to Citi Field on Friday (6/26) to host the Cincinnati Reds. Tickets are on sale starting at $15, and there’s still plenty of great seats for these weekend games. The Mets’ GM announced that the popular third baseman and seven-time All-Star David Wright should be back in the game next month around the All-Star break. He’s been out since April with an injury, and fans are waiting for the team captain to get back in the game, so this is great news for the Mets.
6/12/15 - No team in the NL East is playing particularly well over the past two weeks, which has allowed the New York Mets to hang tough in second place despite dropping six of their last eight games. They were shut out 5-0 by the Giants at home on Tuesday night and then dropped an 8-5 decision after Matt Harvey got knocked around for seven runs in six rough innings. NY will tangle with the defending World Series champs once more and then remain at home to host Atlanta over the weekend. Get your seats for Mets vs. Braves, on sale now! Tickets for Friday night’s opening contest start from just $9. You can also come out for Saturday afternoon baseball with seats starting at $14 or check out the early game on Sunday from $10 and up.
6/4/15 - The New York Mets have a two game losing streak, but they’re still in second place on the NL East leaderboard with a 29-25 record. Jacob deGrom threw a two-hitter in eight innings, and the Mets shutout the Padres in the series opener on Monday at 7-0, but they couldn’t keep the momentum going in the next two games, losing 2-7 on Tuesday and 3-7 on Wednesday. The Mets are on the road over the weekend, coming home on Tuesday (6/9) for a three game series against the San Francisco Giants. There are plenty of great seats starting at $14 for Tuesday’s evening game at Citi Field. Come out to the ballpark for an evening of fun and entertainment. Root for the home team and see why America loves baseball.
5/28/15 - It turns out the Dark Knight is human after all. Matt Harvey lost his second decision of the season after getting clobbered by the Pirates in four painful innings, giving up a 426-foot home run to Andrew McCutchen in the first to score a pair of runs before things got worse. Harvey ended up exiting with a score of 7-1 on the boards, and the six-run difference would end as the final margin in the 8-2 Pittsburgh win. The Mets answered back with a 6-3 win behind Bartolo Colon’s seventh win of the year and then went on to sweep Philadelphia in three games to boost their record to 27-21. Matt Harvey takes the mound against Miami on Friday at Citi Field, but will he have his mojo back? Grab tickets starting at just $12 to be a part of the action live!
5/22/15 - The New York Mets lost in the second game against the St. Louis Cardinals on May 19th. This loss puts them at 23-17, tied with the Washington Nationals for first in the NL Eastern Division. While the Mets did lose their most recent game, they have been doing very well on the whole, winning three consecutive matches before that. Whether or not the Mets can continue on their streak and secure their spot at the top remains to be seen. So far, they have won 50% of their matchups against the Cardinals, so the remaining half could go either way. Afterward, the Mets will have one quick away set, then will return on May 25th to play the Philadelphia Phillies. Tickets start at only $10.
5/14/15 - The New York Mets have the top seat in the NL East with a 20-15 record, but the Chicago Cubs shut them out in four games at Wrigley Field. Thursday’s game was fairly close at 5-6, and it was tied until the bottom of the seventh when the Cubs pulled ahead. The Mets had 10 hits to the Cubs’ six, but they didn’t convert. You can catch the Mets at Citi Field over the weekend, when they host the Milwaukee Brewers. Plenty of great seats are available, with tickets prices starting at $10 for the game on Sunday (5/17). The Mets have four home games against the St. Louis Cardinals beginning on Monday (5/18). Come out after work and relax at the ball park with your favorite team.
5/6/15 - Following a very strong beginning to the season, the New York Mets have started struggling out on the field. Even if they have lost more recently than fans would like, they have managed to maintain an impressive 17-10 winning record and the top position in the NL Eastern Division. The Mets just finished a set against the Washington Nationals, and were only able to win one out of the four games, which was also true in the previous set against the Miami Marlins. The Mets even failed to score in the most recent two matches. They are doing well so far in the current set of games against the Baltimore Orioles, edging out a close 2-3 victory. After May 6th’s game, the Mets will hit the road, returning on May 15th.
4/28/15 - With a 15-5 record, the New York Mets are currently the top team in the National League. In their opening game against the Marlins, the Marlins kept the Mets scoreless through the ninth. Second baseman Daniel Murphy homered and drove in two runs in the final inning, and the Marlins couldn’t make up the difference. The Mets snapped the Marlins’ winning streak with a final score of 3-1. The Mets host the Washington Nationals at Citi Field over the upcoming weekend in a three-game series. Get great seats when you buy your tickets starting at only $9 in the Promenade Reserved section for the game on Friday (5/1) evening. A baseball game makes a great way to unwind after work, so come out and watch your home team play!
4/23/15 - After some early losses, the New York Mets are on a winning streak, with victories in the last nine games. They most recently beat the Atlanta Braves on April 21 in the first of a three game series at home. After four scoreless innings, the Mets racked up four runs in the fifth. Jon Niese was on the mound for six and two third innings and only allowed one run, which was a homer by the Braves' Cameron Maybin. Curtis Granderson had a great night in the batter's box, with three hits and four RBIs. Kevin Plawecki had an excellent MLB debut with two hits and two runs. Additional runs in the sixth and eight innings brought the final score to 7-1. The two teams meet again on April 22, with tickets still available starting at $9.
4/17/15 - The New York Mets have the chance to win all three games against the Phillies when they face the team once again on April 15th. In the first match on the 13th, the Mets won 0-2 for a great home opener. Juan Lagares' single in the fourth inning brought in a run and put the Mets on the board. They had another run in the eighth inning and kept the Phillies scoreless to win. The next night, the Mets won 5-6. Matt Harvey started for the first time at home since the 2013 season. It was a dramatic game, with manager Terry Collins being ejected and several injuries occurring. After the Phillies, the Mets host the Miami Marlins for a four game series starting on the 16th. Tickets remain on sale, with prices as low as $7.
4/7/15 - The New York Mets smiled on Opening Day when they won their game against the Washington Nationals. Even with one error, the Mets took home a 3-1 win, when the Nationals’ shortstop had two errors which gave the Mets three unearned runs. The home opener for the Mets is on Monday (4/13) against the Philadelphia Phillies. It’s the first of a three-game series at Citi Field. Tickets for Monday’s game start at $81. 3/31/15 - The New York Mets have had the best season in the Grapefruit League, with the top record of 18-11 with just a few games left before Opening Day. 3/13/15 - After four straight losses, the New York Mets finally earned a win against the Washington Nationals in Thursday’s game. The final score was 11-9, with nine runs by the Mets in the bottom of the eighth inning. Wilfredo Tovar, the Mets’ shortstop, had two runs during the game, making him the high scorer. In upcoming home games at Digital Domain Park, the Mets face the Washington Nationals on Saturday (3/14). Tickets start at $20, but there are only a few left. On Tuesday (3/17) the Miami Marlins join the Mets on the field. Get your tickets starting at $33. Thursday (3/19), it’s the Houston Astros. Tickets are available for $20 and up. Finishing up the week, it’s the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Don’t miss the Mets!
3/6/15 - The New York Mets made the tabloids when they had a small disturbance in the clubhouse. Bobby Parnell dumped prospect Noah Snydergaard’s lunch in the trash after some words were exchanged about Snydergaard’s presence in the clubhouse instead of in the dugout learning from the other pitchers during an intrasquad game. The Mets have a busy week in the Grapefruit League, with games from Friday through Monday at Digital Domain Park. On Friday (3/6), it’s the Detroit Tigers, Saturday, the Atlanta Braves, and Sunday, the Boston Red Sox. Wrapping up their home games on Monday is the Miami Marlins. Tickets start at $21 for the Braves, $28 for the Red Sox, and $18 for the Marlins. If you need a diversion this weekend, enjoy some great baseball!
2/26/15 - Rumors are circulating that Daniel Murphy, the all-star second baseman for the New York Mets, could be headed to another team for the 2016 season. Things are still uncertain, but one thing that you can be sure about is that Murphy will be here for the season starting next month. Next week, however, the preseason starts, so things will be heating up very soon. You can catch Murphy, and the rest of the Mets, on the diamond as early as March 6th when they take on the Detroit Tigers. That game is almost entirely sold out, but a few tickets remain for $76. If you cannot catch it, be sure to take advantage of the inexpensive tickets that the rest of the preseason has. The season starts proper on April 6th.
2/4/15 - As the New York Mets head towards Spring Training, the General Manager, any further trading prior to the start of the preseason is unlikely. General Manager Sandy Alderson has previously indicated a desire to trade Dillon Gee or one of the other excess starters. However, most teams have either filled their lineup or are waiting to see what happens with James Shields, who is a free agent. Alderson aims to have around 90 wins in the 2015 season, which is why he says having a bullpen that is eight or nine deep is not a bad situation for the team, and it could help the Mets stay strong throughout the whole season. The Mets' first game of Spring Training is on March 4 at Champion Stadium in Orlando against the Atlanta Braves, with tickets starting at $17.
