Miami Marlins 2014 News and Updates

4/14/14- The Miami Marlins had a tremendous start to the season, with a 5-2 record and league-best run differential (+21), only to go on their first road trip of the year and return winless. The Marlins have suffered two straight sweeps (to Washington & Philadelphia), marking their seventh consecutive loss. This catastrophic nosedive has left people wondering whether or not the Miami Marlins are the real deal; they'll look to answer that when they pay Washington back two-fold ( hosting them this week in Florida), followed by a visit from the Seattle Seahawks. Make sure you're in attendance for these next two series--they are crucial for Miami's morale and AL rep! Score Miami Marlins tickets for $17 on Tuesday (vs. Washington) and $22 on Saturday (vs. Seattle).

4/7/14 - The Miami Marlins are on a roll! At 1st place in the NL East, with a 5-2 record and series wins over both the Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres. The Marlins are making it clear that they mean business this year, thanks to a stellar pitching squad and defense that has allowed just 21 runs in seven games, and an offense led by Giancarlo Stanton (who already has two homers). The Fish group will be facing stiffer competition when they take on the Nationals this week, and if they're successful, they'll definitely have the rest of the NL's attention. See if they can ride this winning momentum into Washington with cheap Miami Marlins tickets! Get-in for an amazingly low $1 for all three games (4/8-4/10).

4/1/14 - The Miami Marlins made good on their pre-season expectations, taking down the Colorado Rockies with a convincing 10-1 victory in yesterday's Opening Day faceoff. In the impressive outing, Jose Fernandez struck out nine hitters, retiring all but two Rockies starters and, despite a dreadful Spring, Marcell Ozuna hit a stunning home run, double and single. The Marlins could really make a statement if they sweep this extended four-game series this week. Score tickets for tonight's game, starting at $24, Wednesday's match for $16 and Thursday's game for $27 to finish the campaign.

3/25/14 - Miami Marlins' veteran second baseman and leadoff man, Rafael Fucal, may have to start the year off on the disabled list due to an injured hamstring. While resting him during spring is fine, the real question will be whether Furcal can stay healthy in the regular season or play at least 100 games. Ed Lucas, another Marlins player battling with his hamstring is also battling with Donovan Solano for the reserve infield role. Who will make the roster as the final utility man? Get Miami Marlins tickets for their last few Spring Training games to find out! Cheap tickets are still available for their Thursday matchup with the Cardinals (get-in for $21), and their back-to-back games with the Yankees this Friday (get-in for $23) and Saturday (get-in for $14). If you want to wait until regular season starts, get Opening Day tickets at Marlins Park! Tickets for their first game on March 31, hosting the Rockies, are only $15.

3/18/14 - Miami and their group of talented young pitchers have been playing wonderfully this spring, but the real test will come in less than two weeks, when the Marlins play their first official game of the season. The Miami Marlins will take on the Colorado Rockies on Opening Day (March 31) at Marlins Park, and tickets are averaging $93. Today, Miami pounded the Houston Asters 8-1, giving them the National League's best spring record through spring (13-7)--primarily off the back of Giancarlo Stanton. You can see more games like this and save money with cheap Miami Marlins tickets if you catch them before the end of Spring Training! This Thursday you'll pay $22 to see them against the Cardinals and $51 on Saturday against the Mets.

3/10/14 - With Opening Day three weeks away, the Miami Marlins' starting lineup has begun to take shape. The new-look team will likely put forth Furcal as the leadoff man, Yelich at No. 2 and power-hitter Stanton at No. 3, followed by Jones, Saltamacchia, Ozuna, McGhee, Dobbs and Hechavarria. The Marlins are yet another team with a battle brewing for the fifth and final rotation slot this spring. So far, Tom Koehler is a frontrunner in the race, after putting away 12 of the 13 Detroit Tigers he went up against on Sunday. Miami Marlins tickets are $23 to start on Wednesday against Atlanta, $29 on Friday against NY Mets and $22 on Saturday against Washington.

3/3/14 - The Miami Marlins had a great start to Spring Training with three straight wins (including back-to-back victories against the Cardinals), before falling to the Nationals and the Astros, snapping their perfect spring record. Miami has two exciting matches lined up at Roger Dean Stadium this week: Thursday they play against the Boston Red Sox (get-in for $18) and Sunday they play against the Detroit Tigers (get-in for $24). See if this Grapefruit League team can get back to their winning ways with Miami Marlins tickets!

2/25/14 - The Miami Marlins released their pitching rotation for their first two exhibition games and their first Grapefruit League match. Angel Sanchez (A-ball pitcher acquired from the Dodgers' farm) will take on the University of Miami, while intriguing prospect Justin Niccolino will faceoff against the Golden Panthers on Thursday. Expect to see top Marlins prospect, LHP Andrew Heaney sometime soon, as he will be fighting for the final spot in the rotation this season. Miami will start defending Rookie of the Year Jose Fernandez when they take on the St. Louis Cardinals on March 1. Miami Marlins tickets average $35 across spring training, and offer a $27 minimum for their game against the Cards this Saturday.

2/11/14 - Make sure you get to Florida early for the Miami Marlins' two exciting exhibition games, unique to the Grapefruit League! The Miami Marlins will take on the Miami Hurricanes on 2/26 ($3 min.) and the Florida International Golden Panthers 2/27 ($1 min.) to get their springtime bounce rolling. After that, see the Marlins pitted against the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter for $31 to start. Last spring, rookie Jose Fernandez proved his worth as one of the most vibrant starters in majors--who will make moves this Spring Training? Get Miami Marlins tickets to find out first-hand!

1/28/14 - The Miami Marlins were proactive this offseason, turning over their flailing infield for a fresh new one. Miami Marlins tickets are $41 on average for Spring Training. Unlike most other fans, you don’t have to travel out of state to see how well these new infielders work together when you visit Roger Dean Stadium this spring!

Miami Marlins 2014 Season

The Miami Marlins have been busy resurrecting their dismal infield this winter. Four of the five infield positions were turned over; the only stone left unturned was the shortstop position. The Marlins began reworking by signing Jarrod Saltalamacchia, acquired from the Boston Red Sox’s World Series roster, chosen to fill out the catching position. Free agents Garrett Jones, Rafael Furcal and Casey McGhee were also signed to the roster to man the remaining bases. The Marlins are reportedly looking at New York Yankees’ outfielder Vernon Wells, after having signed Matt Angle from the Baltimore Orioles. Home run slugger Giancarlo Stanton agreed to a one-year $6.5 million deal with the Marlins, making him the highest paid player on the roster and taking care of the Marlins’ outfield in a big way. In the bullpen, fans will be happy to see wunderkind Jose Fernandez, 2013 NL Rookie of the Year winner and third-place finisher in the Cy Young Award race, back on the mound.

With a revamped roster this season is sure to be promising for Miami!

2013 Season

In an effort to trim payroll this offseason the Marlins sent pitchers Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson, All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes, outfielder/infielder Emilio Bonifacio and catcher John Buck to the Toronto Blue Jays. Pitchers Anthony DeSclafani, Henderson Alvarez, and Justin Nicolino along with catcher Jeff Mathis, outfielder Jake Marisnick, and infielders Yunel Escobar and Adeiny Hechavarria were added to the Marlins roster.

Spring Training Florida Marlins tickets against rival New York Yankees are averaging $63 (3/8), double the average Grapefruit League Marlins ticket. The NYY have a large fan base in Florida; in addition, Yankees fans are willing to make the trip to Florida every March, all which drive the price up. According to the Palm Beach Post, the Friday Spring Training Yankees Marlins game is sold out on the primary market. The rivals will not play at Marlins Park during the 2013 regular season.

Miami Marlins tickets remain stable between series in the regular season. The average Marlins tickets average between $44 and $69. The most expensive series will be played against the 2012 World Series Champions San Francisco Giants in August. Tickets for a Marlins game against rival New York Mets (6/1) will cost you on average $64, the fourth most expensive game on the Marlins schedule. "The Franchise" currently has the fifth cheapest average in MLB following their big trade with the Blue Jays and the firing of Marlins Manager Ozzie Guillen.

The World Baseball Classic second round for the Arizona and Puerto Rico winners will be played at Marlins Park (3/12 - 3/16).
