Miami Marlins News – 2013 Marlins Updates

In an effort to trim payroll this offseason the Marlins sent pitchers Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson, All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes, outfielder/infielder Emilio Bonifacio and catcher John Buck to the Toronto Blue Jays. Pitchers Anthony DeSclafani, Henderson Alvarez, and Justin Nicolino along with catcher Jeff Mathis, outfielder Jake Marisnick, and infielders Yunel Escobar and Adeiny Hechavarria were added to the Marlins roster.

Spring Training Florida Marlins tickets against rival New York Yankees are averaging $63 (3/8), double the average Grapefruit League Marlins ticket. The NYY have a large fan base in Florida; in addition, Yankees fans are willing to make the trip to Florida every March, all which drive the price up. According to the Palm Beach Post, the Friday Spring Training Yankees Marlins game is sold out on the primary market. The rivals will not play at Marlins Park during the 2013 regular season.

Miami Marlins tickets remain stable between series in the regular season. The average Marlins tickets average between $44 and $69. The most expensive series will be played against the 2012 World Series Champions San Francisco Giants in August. Tickets for a Marlins game against rival New York Mets (6/1) will cost you on average $64, the fourth most expensive game on the Marlins schedule. "The Franchise" currently has the fifth cheapest average in MLB following their big trade with the Blue Jays and the firing of Marlins Manager Ozzie Guillen.

The World Baseball Classic second round for the Arizona and Puerto Rico winners will be played at Marlins Park (3/12 - 3/16).
