Colorado Rockies News – 2013 Rockies Updates

Since advancing to the World Series in 2007 (ultimately losing to the Boston Red Sox), the Colorado Rockies have fallen back into the pack, though with one more visit to the postseason as a wild card entry in 2009, meaning also that the years of the Blake Street Bombers are long in the rear-view mirror. 2012 was a bit of an odd year for the Rockies: second overall in team batting average, fourth in MLB in slugging percentage, sixth as a team in on-base percentage and runs scored; but dead last in the National League's West Division, 30 games behind division champs San Francisco, and a full 12 games behind fourth place San Diego. The problem? The Rox were dead last in all of Major League Baseball in a number of pitching categories — earned-run average, batting average against, WHIP (walks plus hits divided by innings pitched), quality starts. A number of players topped the Rockies offensive charts, due to a season-ending injury to All-Star Troy Tulowitzki. Third baseman Jordan Pacheco led the squad in batting average, while catcher Wilin Rosario led in home runs, and Carlos Gonzalez led in hits and runs batted in. On the pitching side, the cupboard is bare: the team leader in wins and strikeouts was a reliever, Rex Brothers; only one pitcher, Jeff Francis, had more than 100 innings pitched (but not enough to qualify for the ERA title). If skipper Walt Weiss can't get the pitching situation worked out fast, it could be another long season at Denver's Coors Field.

Colorado Rockies tickets are the cheapest in the League averaging just $45 for the regular season. Surprisingly, it'll cost you $11 more per ticket to see the Rockies at Spring Training. Currently you can find Rockies baseball tickets for under $20 to every game except the very first at Coors Field (4/5). The only Denver Rockies tickets averaging $100 or more on the Rockies schedule are Opening Day versus the San Diego Padres (4/5), the New York Yankees series (5/7 -5/9), and the baseball game against the Boston Red Sox (9/24).
