Chicago White Sox 2014 News and Updates

4/14/14- The Chicago White Sox took down the Cleveland Indians, thanks to Alexei Ramirez's series-clinching walk-off home run on Sunday. The victory marks the first time Chicago took a series over the Cleveland Indians since October of 2012. They'll look to extend their success over the Boston Red Sox, and on the road against the Texas Rangers later this week. There are plenty of cheap Chicago White Sox tickets available this week: $5 on Tuesday (4/15), $7 on Friday (4/18) and $3 in Arlington on Sunday (4/20).

4/7/14 - The Chicago White Sox have split their first six games, winning their series over the Minnesota Twins and losing two games to the Royals in Kansas City. The White Sox will extend their road trip to this week when they meet the Rockies in Colorado (4/7-4/9); each game offers a starting price of $7-$8 at Coors Field. Chicago returns to the Southside later this week, for an extended series against the Cleveland Indians (4/10-4/15). Cheap Chicago White Sox tickets are easy to find, starting at just $4 for their first match this Thursday and going no higher than $11 (Saturday) to get-in.

4/1/14 - The Chicago White Sox gave Southside baseball fans something to cheer about when they took down the Minnesota Twins on Opening Day, 3-5. The team effort was there, as Alejandro de Aza struck two big homeruns and Jose Abreu had two hits in his MLB debut. See if the squad can build on this victory and sweep the series with cheap Chicago White Sox tickets this week! Get-in for a mere $4 in the Upper Reserve on both Wednesday and Thursday. Next up is some stiff competition: the White Sox take on the Royals for three games in Missouri (get in on Friday for $76).

3/24/14 - You have just three chances left to see the Chicago White Sox in Cactus league play! This week they host the Rockies (get in for $34 on Tuesday) and the Reds (get in for $7 on Wednesday), before travelling to Mesa, AZ for their final Spring Training game against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday (get-in for $38). See the White Sox on Monday, March 31 for their Opening Day game against the Minnesota Twins for just $23! Regarding recent franchise moves, the White Sox inked a deal with 25 year-old pitcher Jose Quintana (five-years for $26.5 million) today, and are also looking to trade Adam Dunn and his hefty contract soon, as the team is "log-jammed" with first base/designated hitters on the roster, considering Paul Konerko and Jose Abreu.

3/18/14 - The White Sox have less than two weeks to gear up for their Opening Day match against the Minnesota Twins on March 31. The Southside's first official day of baseball is averaging $93 a seat in Cellular Field. You can catch much cheaper Chicago White Sox tickets for their remaining spring games: pay just $19 for their games against the Angels (3/19), the Cubs (3/21) and San Francisco (3/22). Though White Sox manager Robin Ventura has been tight-lipped in mentioning starters for Opening Day, he has announced Tyler Flowers (having effectively recovered from shoulder surgery) will be in position as catcher. Though they made tons of moves in the offseason, the White Sox may not be done just yet—Chicago has reportedly contacted Seattle about a trade involving Dayan Viciedo. Stay tuned to catch a possible late spring move!

3/10/14 - With Spring Training well under way, the Chicago White Sox are putting the finishing touches on their roster, having traded right-hander Zach Stewart for cash considerations. Manager Robin Ventura also announced (to no one's surprise) that Chris Sale will be the squad's opening day starter for the second time, affirming "your best guy you always put out first." Chicago White Sox tickets start at $28 when they take on the Rangers tomorrow, and start at $26 when they faceoff against the Indians on Friday.

3/3/14 - The Chicago White Sox opened their Spring Training schedule with a tough loss to the Dodgers (0-5), but bounced back a day later with a 9-7 victory over the Rangers on Sunday. Cuban star Jose Abreu made his highly anticipated debut with just two at-bats in his first outing, and showed much greater patience than other vaunted young sluggers who bite at the plate. Chicago White Sox tickets offer the cheapest prices for Week 2 of Spring Training; unbelievably low values can be found this Wednesday against San Diego ($3) and Thursday against Seattle ($1), though prices jump up to a still-modest $19 against Arizona.

2/25/14 - Slugger Adam Dunn, an investor and actor in the Oscar-nominated movie "Dallas Buyers Club" has been invited to the Academy Awards this Sunday. Luckily, the White Sox's spring training location at Camelback Ranch in Arizona is considerably closer to Hollywood than their home in Southside Chicago. If Dunn does go, he'll be back in time for the second White Sox game against the Kansas City Royals on Monday; tickets start at just $5. Compounded by his recent accolade, Dunn is excited to get this new season going with positivity, as last year "was miserable" for him and the team. See them get it back with Chicago White Sox tickets, just $37 on average across spring training.

12/11/14 - The Chicago White Sox roster experienced quite an upheaval this winter, so there's more flexibility than ever for prospects to make their mark this spring. White Sox fans who attend Spring Training will get to see which player answers the pressing third base question: Conor Gillaspie or Matt Davidson? Get Chicago White Sox tickets for their opening spring game in Arizona against the Cleveland Indians, just $10 to get-in.

1/27/14 - The White Sox sure were busy this winter! In addition to front-office tweaks, Chicago made their big winter acquisitions by adding Jose Abreu, Adam Eaton and Matt Davidson to the lineup, so it’s not hard to imagine Chicago jumping out of the AL Central cellar! Witness the start to this exciting bounce back season and grab Chicago White Sox tickets, averaging just $35, for Spring Training this March.

2013 Season

4/3/13 - White Sox Manager Robin Ventura said his team had only one goal – to make the MLB Playoffs. Chicago has seven months before postseason begins and regular season games have already started. Five of the eight series that the Chicago White Sox will play this month will be at home. Opening Day against the Royals had an average ticket price of $87; in comparison that is almost double the cost of any other game at US Cellular Field in April. It was announced yesterday that the Chicago White Sox vs. Texas Rangers game on August 24 at U.S. Cellular Field will now be called the “Civil Rights Game.” It will be the third time in seven years that the White Sox will play in what is becoming a regular game on the MLB schedule.

Chicago White Sox 2014 Season

The Chicago White Sox have definitely been busy this offseason, obtaining big-name players Jose Abreu, Adam Eaton and Matt Davidson. They’ll join franchise legends and MLB veterans Paul Konerko and Frank Thomas in the Southside for what is presumably their final year in the majors. The White Sox released hitting coach Jeff Manto (bottom-five hitting team last season), but have signed manager Robin Ventura (recruited in 2012) to a multiyear contract in his attempt to improve upon the league’s second-worst fielding and errors percentages garnered last year.

The White Sox were another team to drop the ball on the Masahiro Tanaka acquisition this winter, as the Japanese League ace resolved to take up residence with the Yankees for the next seven years. Now, the White Sox are looking to Ervin Santana and Ubaldo Jimenez to fill the bullpen gap. After quite and aggressive offseason by a relatively new manager, you’ve got to keep up with the Chicago White Sox this year as they enter Spring Training with a new-look roster!

2013 Season

Although White Sox GM Kenny Williams called 2012 a rebuilding year, the team still managed an 85-77 record and finished just 3 games back of the Central Division lead. The club led the division for most of the season before succumbing to the streaking Tigers in late September. After fading down the stretch of the 2012 season, second-year manager Robin Ventura looks for his team to rebound and capture their first division title since 2008.

The White Sox had a relatively quiet offseason, but did manage to re-sign ace Jake Peavy and righty Gavin Floyd. The Sox will look for major contributions from newly signed third baseman Jeff Kepinger, who boasts one of the lowest strikeout rates in all of baseball. After 8 years behind the plate, AJ Pierzynski left for Boston in free agency, giving Tyler Flowers a chance to step up this season. Following Pierzynski’s departure, captain Paul Konerko is the only remaining player from the White Sox 2005 World Series Championship team.

White Sox tickets prices to see a game in 2013 at US Cellular Field average about $68, about $10 less than the league average. The White Sox have the 15th most expensive home tickets in the MLB, but 2nd most expensive in the AL Central after the Twins. The most expensive Sox home games this season are the first half of their home-home series against the cross-town Cubs and the Yankees.
