The AL East race is heating up, and the Boston Red Sox are right in the thick of things. As of Aug. 24, the Red Sox sported a record of 71-54, tied atop the standings with Toronto. Boston put together a nice stretch between Aug. 19 and Aug. 23, posted four wins in five games. The team’s only loss during that time period was a 10-5 setback at Detroit on Aug. 21. Two days later, the Sox edged Tampa Bay 2-1 behind the heroics of David Ortiz, who hit the a key single early in the contest. Boston will face Tampa Bay again, this time at home for three games, Aug. 29–31. Tickets start at $22.

The Boston Red Sox winning ways continue; they now have five victories in a row. Their latest victory was against the Orioles on August 16. Mookie Betts had a three run homer to get the Red Sox on the board in the fifth inning. The Orioles were able to tie it up two innings later with three runs of their own. The Red Sox did not let the tie last long, and Betts got another homer for two runs this time to ensure the victory. The Red Sox play the Orioles again on the 17, and then they head to Detroit for four games against the Tigers. Tickets remain available for all games, with prices starting at $17.

The Boston Red Sox swept their latest three game series against the Diamondbacks, which started on August 12. In the first game, the Red Sox had two four-run innings in the first and second innings and did not let the Diamondbacks get close.
