They have top draft picks Blake Swihart and Henry Owens, as well as a list of lesser-known younger players who will have a chance to show their stuff. With the MLB Trade Deadline fast approaching this Thursday, the Red Sox could very well have the hottest pitcher on the market, with rumors swirling that ace Jon Lester (0.93 ERA in July) will hit the market. When these two teams meet Friday Wild vs Blackhawks tickets will be averaging $336 according to Razorgator.
5/8/14 - Third baseman for the Boston Red Sox Will Middlebrooks was able to put the nail in the Cincinnati Reds coffin yesterday to give Boston the two game sweep at Fenway Park. 5/2/14 - Thursday was a tough day for the Boston Red Sox as they played a day-night doubleheader with the Tampa Bay Rays, losing both games in the process. 5/1/14 - The Boston Red Sox were supposed to have yet another opportunity to move their record to .500 for the first time since their fourth game of the season on April 4th but weren’t able to do that as their game against the Tampa Bay Rays was rained out in Boston Wednesday. The rained out game will now be made up as a day-night doubleheader on Thursday.
4/30/14 - This season Boston Red Sox veteran pitcher John Lackey has been quietly having one of the best seasons of his 11 year career. Red Sox ace Jon Lester was on the mound for Boston but the Blue Jays were able to get to him late in the game scoring two runs in the seventh and then piling on three more runs off Boston relievers to steal the game 7-1. The Red Sox now sit at fourth place in the AL East with a record of 12-14.
4/25/14 - Just about everything that could go wrong for the Boston Red Sox yesterday did go wrong for the Boston Red Sox in their rubber match against the New York Yankees. The Yankees scored early and often and by the bottom of the third were already up by seven runs over the Red Sox who ended up using first baseman Mike Carp as a pitcher in the 14-5 blowout on Thursday.
4/24/14 - Wednesday night the Boston Red Sox had a very odd situation at Fenway Park against the Yankees involving pitcher Michael Pineda. The first time Pineda pitched against the Red Sox he appeared to have pine tar on his hand and in last nights game was ejected in the second inning after umpires found the substance blatantly exposed on his neck. The Sox went on to win the game 5-1 but that will all be overshadowed by what happened with Pineda.
4/23/14 - The Boston Red Sox struggled right from the onset of yesterday’s game against the New York Yankees. Former Red Sox turned Yankee Jacoby Ellsbury started it with a leadoff triple off of Jon Lester and it only got worse from there as the Yankees would score eight runs off Boston’s ace by the end of the fifth inning to give them all the run support Masahiro Tanaka would need.
4/21/14 - On the eve of the Boston Marathon the Red Sox honored victims of last years bombing attacks before the game on Sunday and needed a little help to overcome the Baltimore Orioles who jumped out to an early 5-0 lead. By the end of the seventh inning the score was all evened up at 5 runs apiece and heading into the bottom of the ninth the Red Sox had their All-Star Dustin Pedroia on third with the bases loaded when Mike Carp hit a sacrifice fly to allow him to tag up for the walk-off win.
4/17/14 - The Boston Red Sox played their longest game of the year on Wednesday going 14 innings against the Chicago White Sox before being able to pull out the victory. 4/16/14 - Tuesday marked the one year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings which saw a great outpouring of support for the Boston Red Sox as they began play against the Chicago White Sox. Unfortunately for them the Red Sox weren’t able to capitalize on that momentum and with the game tied in the bottom of the ninth rookie Boston shortstop Xander Bogaerts threw a poor ball that went past the first baseman, allowing the winning run to score for the White Sox.
4/15/14 - The Boston Red Sox begin play today against the Chicago White Sox in the first of three games. Boston pitcher Jake Peavy will take the mound against the White Sox’s Erik Johnson and see the return of Dustin Pedroia who underwent tests for his injured wrist which ended up being negative.
4/14/14 - Yesterday the Boston Red Sox meet up with the New York Yankees for a classic Sunday night baseball matchup. In the top of the Eighth inning Boston was threatening with Mike Carp at bat and the bases loaded but struck out to end the inning as well as any hope the Red Sox had of winning the game. The Red Sox will now head to the Windy City to play the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.
4/11/14 - On Thursday the Boston Red Sox opened up their four game series with the New York Yankees in the Bronx. The game which Boston lost 4-1 has been overshadowed by a substance seen on Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda’s hand during the game which appears to have been pine tar, only furthering the controversy and bad blood between these two historic franchises.
4/10/14 - The Boston Red Sox have seen it time and time again; David Ortiz coming up with a clutch hit to spark the Red Sox to victory. Thats what happened in last nights game against the Texas Rangers as Ortiz went yard with runners on the corners to put them up for good by a final score of 4-2. Today Boston heads to New York to play the Yankees where tickets are averaging just under $100.
4/9/14 - Anytime you go down by eight runs its difficult to come back and notwithstanding the Boston Red Sox best efforts they couldn’t get the win yesterday against the Texas Rangers. Today they will play the rubber match of the series wherein Red Sox tickets are averaging $37 for the afternoon game.
4/8/14 - On Monday the Boston Red Sox were able to pick up their first win at Fenway Park of the season. Boston pitcher John Lackey earned the win giving up the lone run of the game in the 4th inning but a strong eighth inning from the Sox sealed the victory as they were able to pile on three more runs in the inning to push the lead to 5-1.
4/7/14 - The Boston Red Sox have not gotten out to the type of start they had hoped they would through their first two series of the season. Yesterday the Red Sox lost their fourth game of the season to the Milwaukee Brewers who shut out Boston en route to winning the game 4-0. Today the Sox look to stop the bleeding a bit as they try to avoid dropping their fourth straight game today in Arlington against the Texas Rangers.
4/4/14 - Yesterday the Boston Red Sox were able to pick up their second win of the season over the Baltimore Orioles to take the rubber match of the series. Today the Boston Red Sox will have their home opener and ring ceremony at Fenway Park to celebrate their 2013 World Series Championship wherein they will play the Milwaukee Brewers. Red Sox tickets for this game are going for the second highest average of the season, only behind the season finale against Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees.
4/3/14 - The Boston Red Sox picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles. The Sox won the game thanks to a solid outing by John Lackey and will now look to take the rubber game of the series today before returning home to Boston to play the Milwaukee Brewers.
4/2/14 - The defending World Series Champion Boston Red Sox kicked off the regular season yesterday against the Baltimore Orioles. 4/1/14 - On Monday the Boston Red Sox began the season by playing game one of 162 on the road against the Baltimore Orioles. In the game Grady Sizemore continued to prove that he is still a great baseball player after winning the job this spring by hitting a solo home run in the Red Sox 2-1 loss.
3/31/14 - The Red Sox begin their championship defense today in Baltimore as Jon Lester looks to take the mound on Opening Day. Shane Victorino was placed on the disabled list so he will not be making the trip as Jackie Bradley Jr. was called up to take his place. It is unknown how long Victorino will be out, though he is confident it will be just a short-term injury.
3/28/14 - The Boston Red Sox began their final series of Spring Training against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. John Lackey started the game which was never in doubt for Boston as he went deep into the game throwing seven innings of shutout baseball en route to picking up the win.
3/27/14 - The Boston Red Sox lost another game yesterday to the Baltimore Orioles in Grapefruit League play to put them at 9-16 in Spring Training. The Red Sox haven’t had as many wins as they would like this Spring Training but have to feel good about the way many of their young players have stepped up and shown potential to become everyday players. Boston will now head into a three game series with the Minnesota Twins to before heading into Opening Day on Monday.
3/26/14 - Grady Sizemore continued his fantastic Spring Training yesterday in the Red Sox’s 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. Sizemore went yard in the sixth inning for the first time this since 2011 when he was a member of the Cleveland Indians and has firmly entrenched himself as the starter in Center Field on Opening Day.
3/25/14 - Yesterdays Boston Red Sox game against the Baltimore Orioles was rained out but even it wasn’t it still wouldn’t have been the biggest Red Sox story of the day. On Monday the Boston Red Sox signed World Series MVP David Ortiz to a contract extension which will virtually guarantee that the cornerstone player finishes his career in a Red Sox uniform.
3/24/14 - The MLB season may have kicked off with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks in Australia but the Boston Red Sox still have a few Spring Training games left before their Opening Day. Today the Red Sox hope to get back on track when they play the Baltimore Orioles after losing 9-2 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.
3/21/14 - esterday the Red Sox battled the New York Yankees in one of their last remaining Spring Training games left. In the end the Yankees came out of the game with the victory after going up early in the game and never looking back from there. One bright spot from last nights game has to be the play of Grady Sizemore who was out of baseball for two years before coming back this season and played a full nine innings while scoring a run to all but cement his job as the Opening Day centerfielder.
3/20/14 - The Red Sox lost yesterday’s Spring Training game to the Pittsburgh Pirates but there were a few takeaways of note. The first being Jake Peavy’s solid performance on the mound going 4 ? strong and giving up just one earned run, while the second is David Ortiz’s continued struggle at the plate. Ortiz went 0-3 on the day with a strikeout and is hitting a dismal .067 (2-30), a far cry from his great play that earned him World Series MVP last season.
3/19/14 - Yesterday afternoon the Boston Red Sox played their AL East rival the New York Yankees in one of their last remaining Spring Training games. This game saw a rare occurrence take place when the game was stopped in the third inning due to a swarm of bees surrounding Boston’s Mike Carp in the outfield. In short this was just not Boston’s day as they ended up losing the game 8-1 in addition to being attacked by bees.
3/18/14 - The Boston Red Sox played the St. Louis Cardinals again last night in a rematch of last seasons World Series and again the Red Sox came out on top. Boston was able to keep pace with the Cardinals but exploded in the fifth inning for five runs to put them ahead for good in this Spring Training game. Grady Sizemore played his best game yet since returning to the major leagues after sitting out two seasons due to injuries going 3-4 with some great glove work in centerfield.
3/17/14 - This weekend was one the Boston Red Sox would like to forget about quickly. The Sox lost two games over the weekend, the first of which was Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies who got a great outing from Cliff Lee who threw five scoreless innings while the second loss came to the Tampa Bay Rays and David Price who threw his best stuff on Sunday giving up two in 6 ? innings. Anytime you face Cy Young winners in back to back games it is going to be a challenge, but the Red Sox can get back on track today when they play a rematch of the World Series versus the St. Louis Cardinals.
3/14/14 - Phil Hughes may not be pitching for the New York Yankees this season but that hasn’t stopped the Boston Red Sox from having his number, giving up two runs in three innings for the Minnesota Twins on Thursday afternoon. Jake Peavy had a nice outing for the Red Sox as he was able to give up just a single run on the way to Boston’s 4-3 victory.
3/13/14 - After a quiet day of rest yesterday the Boston Red Sox are back at it today as they have a game this afternoon at the Minnesota Twins in Grapefruit League play. The Twins come into this game with a 5-6 record while the Red Sox are 5-8 thus far in Spring Training but have won their last three games in a row. Taking the mound today for the Sox will be Jake Peavy while former Yankees pitcher Phil Hughes will start the game for the Twins with first pitched scheduled for 1:05 pm EST.
3/12/14 - Yesterday the Boston Red Sox knocked around the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 6-5 on the way to picking up their third straight win. Will Middlebrooks had a great game on Tuesday as he was able to go yard in the sixth inning for a solo shot, his second off Orioles pitcher Tommy Hunter in the last four days.
3/11/14 - After getting off to a shaky start this Spring Training the Boston Red Sox have bounced back to win their last two games and now sit at a record of 4 - 7 in the Grapefruit League. The Sox were able to overcome the young and talented Tampa Bay Rays yesterday by a score of 6 - 2 with Jon Lester pitching a very solid three innings of hitless baseball. For their next game the Red Sox will stay in the AL East to play the Baltimore Orioles.
3/10/14 (PM) - The Boston Red Sox will debut their tentative Opening Day lineup today against the Tampa Bay Rays, as Jon Lester and Shane Victorino make their first spring appearances this afternoon. They'll join Sizemore, Nava and Pierzynski as starters looking to kick it into high gear with three weeks left until the season officially starts. Boston Red Sox tickets are the cheapest this week when they take on the Miami Marlins tomorrow (get-in for $16), and are the priciest when they play the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday (get-in for $85).
3/10/14 - This past weekend the Boston Red Sox split their two games, getting blown out 13-2 in Saturday’s game to AL East division rival the Baltimore Orioles but taking the final game of the weekend by beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2. Clay Buchholz started Sunday’s game and went three innings without giving up a hit before calling it a day and hitting the showers but it was Jackie Bradley Jr. who impressed by knocking in two runs in the second to put the Sox up. Today the Red Sox will host the Tampa Bay Rays as we inch closer and closer towards Opening Day which is presently less than three weeks away.
3/7/14 - The Red Sox did something that you rarely see in baseball; tie. The spring training game between Boston and the Miami Marlins was called after 7 2/3 innings due to rain with both teams failing to score a run by that time in the game. One takeaway from this game will be the Devin Marrero and his stellar play at shortstop where he showed off his spectacular range making several athletic plays.
3/6/14 - Yesterday afternoon the Boston Red Sox took the field to play a rematch of last season’s World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals, and despite their best efforts in putting together a rally in the top of the 9th inning still came away short losing 8-6. Today, the Red Sox will play the Miami Marlins who have been a nice surprise this Spring Training at a record of 5-2.
3/5/14 - The Boston Red Sox had one of their worst games of spring training so far on Tuesday when they lost 8-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays. The Red Sox got behind early and were never able to amount much of anything on offense while giving up a staggering 16 hits to the Rays despite starting Clay Buchholz on the mound. Today, Boston will prepare for a rematch of last season’s World Series when they play the St. Louis Cardinals this afternoon.
3/4/14 - The Red Sox lost a close game to the Pittsburgh Pirates last night by a score of 7 to 6, but a bigger concern for Boston has to be their pitcher Jake Peavy who was scheduled to start the game but was scratched at the last minute due to accidentally slicing his finger open with fishing knife. Starting in his place was Brandon Workman who had a rough outing, only lasting 2 ? innings and giving up five hits and five runs in the process.
3/3/14 PM - The Boston Red Sox fell in back-to-back games against the Minnesota Twins in two Grapefruit League opening thrillers last week. Thanks to the homerun-slugging bat of Mike Napoli, Boston turned things around with an 8-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles yesterday. Heisman winner Johnny Football turned into Johnny Baseball this weekend, sporting a custom Boston jersey, and took time visiting with fans and players at the Red Sox camp. Expect more high-profile stars to attend Red Sox games and spend their spring in sunny Florida. You can join them with cheap Boston Red Sox tickets this weekend! Boston will play the Atlanta Braves (get-in for $26 on 3/7) and the Baltimore Orioles (get-in for $18 on 3/8).
3/3/14 AM - Jake Peavy was scheduled to make his first start today in Bradenton, FL but was scratched after suffering a laceration to his left index finger with a fishing knife over the weekend. Peavy will not be throwing for three days, according to manager John Farrell, and then will begin a program off the mound. Luckily for Sox fans, it is Peavy’s non-throwing hand and does not appear altogether a major issue.
2/24/14 - Xander Bogaerts, last year's electrifying starter in all 6 World Series games, has finally secured the job at shortstop with no competition in Spring Training. Bogaerts is a rising star in baseball, budding fan-favorite and a front-runner to win 2014's Rookie of the Year. You have to check him out as he gears up for his first full MLB season with Boston Red Sox tickets! Since practice officially kicked off, Red Sox spring training tickets have risen slightly: from $78 to $82, making Boston the second most in-demand team to see this season.
2/18/14 - This weekend Ryan Dempster announced a 2014 season hiatus and will forgo a guaranteed $13.25 million to pitch this year. After lingering injuries and familial issues plagued him in the offseason, it is unclear whether the respected pitcher will be making a retirement speech soon, but teammates and media both gave him a standing ovation at the press conference. This decision leaves the franchise with additional spending money for younger arms, or a midsummer acquisition. The Boston Red Sox will partake in a Northeastern & Boston College doubleheader on 2/27 ($5 to get-in), and they will take on the Minnesota Twins for their first official Spring Training game a day later ($28 to get-in).
2/11/14 - Mike Napoli and his beard are already suited up in Florida, waiting to report in 4 days for Spring Training. In less than ten days, every position player for the Boston Red Sox will take the field for their first workout together. With Jacoby Ellsbury out, the Red Sox will be holding auditions for a leadoff man this spring. Daniel Neva, Shane Victorino and Xander Bogaerts are likely candidates. See how it all plays out with Boston Red Sox Spring Training tickets—just $9 to start for their first game (Feb 27)!
1/27/14 - Can the Red Sox snatch the AL East crown again this time and move onto their fourth World Series title in eleven years? Get a jump on the season and score Boston Red Sox tickets for Spring Training this February! Boston Red Sox tickets are in hot demand, running $78 on average this spring, the second highest price behind the Rangers.
The defending World Series Champions have kept things pretty quiet in the offseason, largely sticking by their tried-and-true roster. After jetting from worst-to-first in 2013, the Red Sox are ready for another go, having officially shaved their beards in anticipation of Spring Training. Boston has stayed out of the spotlight this winter, taking low-risk transactions in the offseason: losing Jacoby Ellsbury to rival Yankees, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and potentially Stephen Drew in exchange for A.J. Pierzynski, Grady Sizemore and Edward Mujica.
38 year-old World Series MVP David Ortiz is seeking a multiyear extension deal with Boston, otherwise, the slugger has made it known he has “no choice [but to] move on” from the franchise. Conversely, Jon Lester is willing to take a discount and sign an extension with Boston, stating, “I want to be here ‘til they rip this jersey off my back”—which is just one indication of how devoted players and fans are to this organization. Not only does Boston boast a legion of veterans, but also the top 100 prospects list came out just in time for Spring Training, and it features nine Red Sox players (including No.2 Xander Boagaerts), the most of any team in the league. With all of this fresh talent mixing with experienced players, grab your Boston Red Sox tickets today and watch them make another run for the World championship!
10/21/13 - The Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2 in Game 6 to advance to the World Series for the first time since 2007. The average price of World Series tickets in Boston is $1,565. Because the Sox have home-field advantage, that average is based on a potential four home games. Since the beginning of the postseason, the average price has dropped 14%, 9% since last Tuesday. However, World Series tickets in Boston remain the most expensive of the two ball clubs. Red Sox World Series tickets are 18% more expensive than Bruins Stanley Cup Finals tickets were this year.
10/11/13 - The Red Sox advanced to the ALCS after taking the Division Series over Tampa Bay in four games. Boston will compete for its 13th American League pennant; but they'll have to overtake the Detroit Tigers, a team they went 3-4 against in the 2013 regular season. The two baseball powerhouse franchises have never met before in the postseason. ALCS tickets in Boston are the most expensive in the LCS, averaging $624, 7% less than Boston Bruins ECF tickets.
10/4/2013 - Heading into Division Series play, the Boston Red Sox have the most expensive World Series tickets on the market at an average price of $1,812. World Series Game 2 in Boston is the cheapest, averaging $1,554 a ticket at Fenway.
9/24/13 - The Boston Red Sox have not only clinched a playoff berth but the team has also secured their seventh East Division title, their first since 2007 (the same year the team won its seventh World Series). Just a year ago, the franchise was dead last in the AL East; in 2013, the Red Sox were the second team in MLB to earn a spot in the postseason and they’re division leaders. Appropriately, Boston picked up its title with Koji Uehara on the mound and a 6-3 win at home. ALDS tickets for the first home game at Fenway are averaging $316. ALCS tickets for HG1 (if applicable) are more than double the cost.
7/25/13 - The Bosox were not expected to do much in 2013, after a dismal, last-place 2012 performance. Instead, what they give us is yet another reason why baseball offers such compelling drama over a long season, standing atop the uber-competitive AL East at the All-Star break. Red Sox Nation are surely asking, can they keep it up?
3/26/13 – The Red Sox may be offering free food and cheap beer for the first month of the season to lure back fans to Fenway Park, but they aren’t cutting ticket prices. Boston has the 3rd most expensive ticket in MLB this April with series at home against the Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays, Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, and Houston Astros. The Red Sox home opener will be April 8th against the Baltimore Orioles. Red Sox Opening Day tickets are priced from $52 (down $23 since February) in the Bleachers to $846 for a Field Box and average $188. If you wait two days, you can see the same two teams play for an average of $40. The cheapest series in April will come against the A’s with tickets available for under $10 to each of the three games.
After long being the darlings of the American League, the Boston Red Sox finally crashed to earth in 2012 with their first losing record since 1997, and finishing last in the highly-competitive American League East for the first time since 1992. Although well supported by the Fenway Park faithful, the regime of first year skipper Bobby Valentine struggled both on the field as well as off, with Valentine being responsible for a number of headline incidents which proved corrosive to team chemistry. As well, several key players struggled with injuries, most notably DH David Ortiz, who was limited to just 90 games in 2012.
Even still, Big Papi finished second on the team in homers to catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and was getting on base at a .415 clip. First baseman Adrian Gonzalez was the only Bosox player with sufficient appearances to qualify for the batting title to hit .300. Only two starting pitchers for the Red Sox qualified for the ERA title (162 or more innings pitched) — Clay Buchholz, who was 11-8 with a 4.56 ERA and 129 strikeouts; and Jon Lester, who was 9-14, with an ERA of 4.82 and 166 K's. Red Sox Nation is certainly hoping for more in 2013. Boston Red Sox tickets at Fenway Park are the second most expensive MLB ticket in 2013, averaging $106 — only Chicago Cubs fans will pay more to see a home game this season. Boston fans following the team on the road should expect to pay an average of $5 less per ticket.
