Boston Red Sox 2016 News and Updates

Now that the Boston Red Sox are one week into the season, fans are assessing how they have been doing. With four wins and four losses, it really looks like it could go either way for Boston this year. However, the Red Sox have primarily been playing on away fields up until this point, which is about to change. They are starting a nice long series of home games, first against the Toronto Blue Jays, then against the Tampa Bay Rays. After a short five-day away stretch, the Red Sox will be back for even more home games starting on April 27th. There are plenty of opportunities to catch them in action, so get your tickets.

Fans of the Boston Red Sox had to wait a day to see their team start the season after their opening game against the Indians was postponed. The wait was worth it, as the Red Sox beat the Indians 6-2 on April 5. David Price started on the mound and only gave up two runs while striking out 10. Mookie Betts and David Ortiz both hit homers, which was Ortiz's 504th of his career. The Red Sox have two more games in the series against the Indians before they head to Toronto to play the Blue Jays for three games starting on the 8. You can still get tickets, for prices starting at $8.

With the new season now closer than ever, fans begin analyzing the Boston Red Sox preseason to figure out how they will perform this year. So far, the Red Sox have been pretty even in the preseason, taking nine victories and 13 losses. There is no way to know for sure how they will fare, however, until the official season kicks off, now just two weeks away. The season opener is on April 4th, but the Red Sox will not have their first home game until the 11th. Tickets for the exciting home opener, which will be against the Baltimore Orioles, are available starting at $78. Secure your spot in the stands to welcome the Red Sox back.

3/15/16 - In the latest Spring Training game, the Boston Red Sox David Price dominated the Red Sox' rival the Yankees. The Yankees sat many of their starters, but some powerhouse players were present. Price struck out several players and only allowed one solo home run during his four innings on the mound. Price took advantage of this training game to work on his fastball, although he did throw some other pitches a swell. The team behind him backed him up, including a good play from rookie first baseman Hanley Ramirez. The Red Sox' next preseason game will be against the Orioles on the 17. You can still get tickets for $21 and up.

2015 Season

9/21/15 - Even though the Boston Red Sox are in last place in the AL Eastern Division, they have had some great winning streaks. Just this month, the Red Sox went on a three- game winning streak when they played against the Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays. Unfortunately, the Rays were also able to put a stop to the streak when they beat the Red Sox 5-2 on September 22. The Red Sox came out early with their guns blazing and were able to put two runs up on the board in the first inning. However, that is where the excitement ended for the Red Sox. The Rays then took control offensively and scored five runs starting in the fifth inning. Watch the Red Sox play live when they take on the Rays again on September 24.

9/14/15 - The Boston Red Sox won two of three games in their most recent series against the Rays. The first game went to the Rays, but the Red Sox came back the next night on fire, scoring 10 runs to the Rays' four. The next night had 33 strikeouts and remained scoreless until the Red Sox scored two runs in the top of the 13th inning thanks to a two-run single by Rusney Castillo. Unfortunately, the Red Sox were unable to maintain the momentum when they faced the Orioles and have lost the first two of three games. The Red Sox have one more chance to beat the Orioles on the 16th, and then they head to Toronto for three games. You still have a chance to see the Red Sox in action, with ticket prices starting at $29.

9/7/15 - The Boston Red Sox are on a roll. Even though they were not able to carry their winning streak through the end of their series of home games, they still managed to end on a high note. After winning five of their last six games, the most recent two with at least 10 runs no less, the Red Sox hit the road and prepare for a long away trip. If you were hoping to catch them in action, you are going to have to wait until September 21st. The season is starting to wind down, so be sure to reserve your tickets for one of the few remaining matches now. Tickets for their homecoming game can still be attained for the low price of $7.

8/31/15 - The Boston Red Sox have had a very lucrative ending to the month of August. In their last eight games, the Red Sox have been able to add five wins to their record and are continuing to withstand a big losing streak. In their current series against the New York Yankees, the two teams have split the first couple of games. The Yankees are holding the number two spot in the AL East division, while the Red Sox are pulling up the caboose in fifth making each game against the Yankees that much more important. The Red Sox are prepared to do anything to take home that final win during game three on September 2. Watch the two teams battle it out at Fenway Park for $15 a ticket.

8/24/15 - After starting out the four game series against the Royals with two wins, the Boston Red Sox lost the final two. They came back the next night to win the first of three against the Chicago White Sox. Joe Kelly was on the mound for seven and a third innings and earned his fifth straight win. He was able to limit the White Sox to just two runs, which included a home run in the first inning. The White Sox tried to rally at the bottom of the ninth, but the Red Sox were able to hold them to just two runs and retain the lead. Fans still have a chance to see the Red Sox play the White Sox, with ticket prices starting at just $4.

8/17/15 - Their playoff hopes dashed in 2015, the Boston Red Sox now turn to other priorities as they finish out the season. They’ll have plenty of opportunity to play more of their younger guys over the next month-plus, giving opportunity for development to players like Xander Bogaerts and Mookie Betts. The Sox also shook up their front office this week, picking up Dave Dombrowski to serve as their new president of baseball operations. Dombrowski is best known as the architect of the present Detroit Tigers team, although the organization chose to release him toward the conclusion of his contract to the surprise of many around the league. Boston hosts one of the AL’s best this weekend in the Kansas City Royals—get tickets for Saturday night at Fenway for $21 and up!

8/10/15 - A tough season got a little tougher for the Boston Red Sox this week, when it was announced that closer Koji Uehara would miss the remainder of the 2015 campaign with a right wrist fracture. The vaunted reliever took a line drive off his wrist pitching against the Tigers on Friday, and a CT scan confirmed Boston fans’ fears. The Sox could now turn to setup man Junichi Tazawa to close out games in Uehara’s absence; Jean Machi is another possibility. The BosSox will need to figure out a solution before this weekend when Felix Hernandez and the Mariners come to town. King Felix is expected to oppose Wade Miley on Saturday afternoon—get your tickets for Fenway Park to be part of the action! Seats start at $28.

8/3/15 - The Boston Red Sox has a nice three game winning streak earlier this week, but they seem to be struggling lately. While they, unfortunately, lost their final home game to the Tampa Bay Rays on August 4th by one run, the Red Sox are having a significantly more difficult time against the New York Yankees. In their opening matchup, the Yankees managed to beat the Red Sox out 13 to three. As the set continues, the Red Sox will need to perform at a very high level to compete with New York. Fans will just have to wait to see if Boston is up to the challenge. Tickets for their homecoming, on August 14, against the Seattle Mariners, are already available, starting as low as $29.

7/27/15 - The Boston Red Sox opened a three game series against the Tigers with a win, which ended their long, eight game losing streak. The game was largely a pitching duel between Rick Porcello and Justin Verlander, with each team getting a run in the third. Xander Bogaerts hit a single in the eleventh, sending Mookie Betts home from second base, which ended in a close call that took four minute for the ruling to stand. The next night, the Tigers took the win, limited the Red Sox to just one run. The Red Sox won the series by beating the Tigers 11-1 the final night. The Red Sox now host the White Sox for a four game series, the first of which went to Chicago. You can still get tickets for the remaining games. Prices start at $28.

7/20/15 - The Boston Red Sox are in the midst of a six game losing streak. After wining one of three games against the Yankees, the Red Sox headed to Anaheim to play four games against the Angels. The third game in the series was postponed, leading to a doubleheader on the Monday in which the Angles won 11-1 and then 7-3. After such a disappointing time in California, the Red Sox headed to Texas to play against the Astros. The first game did not get them out of their funk, despite a 3 run third inning that briefly gave them the lead. Boston will look to break their current losing streak in their next game against the Astros on July 22. Tickets remain available, with prices as low as $16.

7/13/15 - The Boston Red Sox has an excellent series of home games, but it did end on a slightly sour note. While they won five of the eight matchups, their three losses included two against the New York Yankees right at the end of the series. Now, the Red Sox travel to Los Angeles to take on the Angels. Even though they are in the bottom position for the AL Eastern Division, they are a measly six wins away from the division leader, the Yankees. If they can continue racking up wins on the road, they will undoubtedly move up. Tickets for their homecoming on July 24th are already available. Get yours today to secure your spot when they take on the Detroit Tigers. Tickets start at $48.

7/6/15 - With six wins in their last eight outings, it looks like the Boston Red Sox are finally starting to find some sense of rhythm. They took two of three from the AL-best Astros most recently, just after winning three of four against the Blue Jays in Toronto. There’s still plenty of work to be done before the Sox lift themselves out of the AL East cellar, but now just four games back of the Jays, the team has to feel that they’re finally within striking distance. Super-utility man Brock Holt will represent Boston in this year’s All-Star Game, as the versatile position player has put up a .296 average with 21 RBIs to help keep his team afloat. Boston will host their old rivals this weekend at Fenway—get your tickets for Red Sox vs. Yankees on sale now from $55!

6/29/15 - David Ortiz has had perhaps the toughest season of anyone on the Boston Red Sox roster, but on Thursday, all that was forgotten for a short time at least. Big Papi knocked in a three-run homer, followed immediately by a solo dinger from Hanley Ramirez, accounting for four of Boston’s eight first-inning runs scored. The Sox remain well behind the pack in the AL East and will need at least one strong run to get back into the conversation as the MLB season reaches the mid-way point this week. With five wins in their last seven games, however, things are certainly looking up for Red Sox fans. Starting on Friday the 10th, Boston’s old rivals come to Fenway for a three-game weekend set. Get your seats now for Yankees vs. Red Sox! Friday night tickets start at $39.

6/22/15 - Still struggling to climb out of the AL East cellar, the Boston Red Sox fell by a score of 6-4 to the Orioles on Tuesday evening. Hanley Ramirez drove in a run and scored with a 2-for-4 performance and Pablo Sandoval added three hits and an RBI but the Sox couldn’t climb out of an early hole and fell to 31-41 on the season. Ramirez currently ranks 13th among American League outfielders in voting for the upcoming 2015 MLB All Star Game and teammate Xander Bogaerts sits at fifth among shortstops. The BosSox will hope for more contributions from their star position players in coming weeks as they face the Blue Jays, the Rays, and Astros in three must-win series. Tickets are still on sale for Thursday’s afternoon finale versus Baltimore starting at $50!

6/15/15 - The Boston Red Sox aren’t having the season they were hoping for. Bringing up the caboose in the AL East division, the Red Sox are currently sitting at a 27-38 losing record. They started the season off right by sweeping the Athletics in three games straight, but it hasn’t looked good since. Losing the last seven games in a row has the Red Sox organization and fans alike fired up. They hit the field against the Atlanta Braves on June 15 and were able to bring in two runs, but it unfortunately wasn’t enough against the Braves four runs. See if they can pull out of their losing slump during their series against the Braves. Tickets for this week’s games start at $10 a piece.

6/1/15 - Starter Rick Porcello rebounded from a pair of rough outings for the Boston Red Sox, throwing eight strong innings with only two runs allowed on five hits. Unfortunately the offensive support was not there and Boston ended with a 2-0 shutout loss, their first in three games versus the Twins. The Sox took the first contest 1-0 behind a stellar performance from workhorse Clay Buckholz and followed with a 6-3 win on the strength of another brilliant performance from rookie Eduardo Rodriguez, who let through just two hits and one earned run while striking out seven in his second major league start. The Red Sox will remain at Fenway for a three-game series versus the white-hot Oakland A’s and tickets are on sale now! Seats for Friday night start at $15—secure yours soon!

5/25/15 - The Boston Red Sox are off to a tough start this season, bringing in the bottom of the leader board for the east division in the American League. The Red Sox are currently sitting with a 21-26 losing record, but have high hopes of more wins in the future. The Red Sox and Twins met head to head in a three game series this week and the Twins had no problem pulling off a clean sweep against the Red Sox. Fortunately, the Red Sox were able to overcome their three game losing streak when they faced off against the Texas Rangers on Thursday night. Ending the game at 5-1, the Red Sox left nothing on the field and played great baseball. Watch the rest of the series against the Rangers on May 29. Tickets are available still in Arlington, TX starting at $10 a piece.

5/18/15 - With high expectations being placed on the Boston Red Sox to right the ship, they’re putting together some fairly impressive wins out west. They took two of three versus the Athletics in Oakland followed by two of four against the Mariners in Seattle. Rick Porcello out-dueled “King” Felix Hernandez on Sunday as the Sox took the contest 4-2, but the M’s got a measure of revenge with a 5-0 win behind eight strong innings pitched by James Paxton. Next up for David Ortiz and his squad is a four-game set at Globe Life Park as the Red Sox take on the Rangers. Tickets are on sale now for all four matchups versus Texas! Claim your seats with great prices starting at just $6 each!

5/11/15 - Seven losses in eight games led to some unrest for the Boston Red Sox, who began to emerge from their extended slump with a pair of road wins against American League opponents. The Sox finally got a win against the Blue Jays this season with a 6-3 outcome on Sunday evening and followed it up with a 5-4 nail-biter of a victory in Oakland versus the Athletics. Boston could not make it three straight though, as the A’s stormed back with a 9-2 onslaught on Tuesday night to even their current three-game series. The Red Sox will wrap up in Oakland on Wednesday afternoon before heading to Seattle to begin a four-game set versus the Mariners. Tickets for Safeco Field are available starting at $18 for Thursday night’s contest.

5/4/15 - A three-game sweep at the hands of their New York rivals has sunk the Boston Red Sox below the .500 mark for the first time this season. David Ortiz stepped to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning of the final game on Sunday evening. With the Yankees ahead by three, Big Papi had the bases loaded and Fenway rocking, but was unable to come up with a hit. A loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday had Boston reeling, but they bounced back with a 2-0 win behind a pair of homers from standout rookie Mookie Betts. The Sox play the finale against the Rays on Wednesday evening before opening a set at Toronto on Friday. Tickets are on sale now for Rodgers Centre starting at $10!

4/27/15 - The new-look Boston Red Sox have opened the season with a much more dynamic offense compared to last year. However, their starting rotation has been knocked around on multiple occasions, leaving the Sox tied for second in the AL East with the Tampa Bay Rays. Boston jumped out of the gate, taking two of three games in each of their first three series, but they have also suffered four of their 10 losses at the hands of the Baltimore Oriels. The Red Sox split the first two games of their current three-game set versus the Toronto Blue Jays, with the rubber game to be played on Wednesday evening. Tickets for Fenway Park are on sale now! Be a part of the live action starting at just $10!

4/21/15 - The Boston Red Sox went 2 for 2 with the Orioles in a four game series at home. The Red Sox won the first game 2-3. The Orioles were the first to score, with a run in the fourth and the fifth inning. The Red Sox were able to tie the game with two runs in the fifth. After several scoreless innings, the Red Sox got a run in the ninth inning for the win. The next two games belonged to the Orioles. In the fourth game, the Red Sox dominated, winning 7-1. They were the first to get a run on the board, and a four run third inning helped secure the win. The Red Sox beat the Rays on the 21st in the first of three back to back games. Tickets remain available, with prices starting at $10.

4/15/15 - The Boston Red Sox are off to a great start to the season. They have won the first two from a three game series against the Nationals this week. In their first meeting, the Red Sox won 9-4 for a perfect home opener. The MVP of the game was Mookie Betts, who robbed a homer, stole two bases, and hit a three run homer. The second game was closer, with a final score of 8-7. The Red Sox were behind by two in the seventh, but the Nationals made a few errors, which led to the Red Sox scoring three runs for the win. The teams meet once more, and then the Red Sox host the Orioles for a four game series starting on April 17. Tickets remain available, with prices starting at $29.

4/10/15 - The season has begun and the Boston Red Sox record is even with one win and one loss. Their home opening game against the Phillies went their way with an 8-0 win. The star of the game for the Red Sox was Clay Buchholz who threw three-hit ball over a total of seven innings. The Red Sox offense also played outstanding. Hanley Ramirez and Dustin Pedroia each slammed two homers in, which helped lead the Red Sox to a first game victory. This weekend the Red Sox hit the road for their series match up against the New York Yankees. Tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s game are still available to purchase. Tickets start around $19 for Friday and Sunday and $32 for the Saturday game.

3/26/15 - Spring training for the Boston Red Sox has gone pretty well so far and the team is thrilled for regular season play to start. Currently they are tied for fifth place with Tampa Bay in the Cactus league. On March 26, 2015 the Boston Red Sox faced off against the Minnesota Twins. This game was much anticipated because the Red Sox star player, David Ortiz, was returning to the field after a nine-day absence from dehydration. Unfortunately, having Ortiz back wasn’t much help. He ended the game 0 for 3 at the plate. Regardless of Ortiz’s performance, the Boston Red Sox were able to pull off a 5-4 win against the Twins. There are so many more exciting games coming up this next week, so don’t miss your chance to see the Red Sox live. Most games still have tickets available as low as $14.

3/19/15 - It was clear that the Boston Red Sox wanted to make a splash this off-season, picking up Pablo Sandoval from the Giants and snatching Rick Porcello to strengthen their rotation. Porcello has looked good in spring training thus far, and turned in a one-run, three-hit performance in four innings to help Boston take a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins in Grapefruit League play. At 9-6 overall, the Sox currently sit in fourth place among eastern teams, although they will lose some offensive pop for the next few days as DH David Ortiz sits out to recover from dehydration symptoms. We have a handful of tickets remaining to see Boston take on the Baltimore Oriels at JetBlue Park on Friday, with prices starting at just $10!

3/9/15 - The Boston Red Sox hold the second place in the Grapefruit League with a 4-2 record, behind the New York Yankees (5-2). In Monday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston took a strong lead in the top of the seventh with two runs. They earned another in the ninth and kept the Cardinals from scoring, giving the Red Sox the win at 3-0. The Red Sox host the New York Yankees, their longtime rivals on Friday (3/13) at JetBlue Park, their home during the training season. Tickets start at $88. On Saturday, they host the Pittsburgh Pirates. With tickets at $26 and up, you can bring the family to experience some great baseball. Monday, the New York Mets come to Fort Myers. Then on Tuesday, the Atlanta Braves join the Red Sox on the field.

3/2/15 - The Boston Red Sox are one of the top ranked baseball teams going into the 2015 Season. They’re hoping to sign a new infielder, Yoan Moncada, from Cuba. The MLB reports that Brian Johnson, a left-handed pitcher for the Sox, is looking physically fit and well-conditioned. If you’re in the Fort Myers area for spring training, you’ll want to come down to JetBlue Park and catch one of the exciting opening games to see the line-up. On Friday (3/6), the Sox host the Miami Marlins. Tickets for this game start at $29. Saturday (3/7), they host the Minnesota Twins. Get your tickets from us starting at $14. On Tuesday (3/10), the Sox have a chance to face the Tampa Bay Rays. Tickets will go fast for this local home team.

2/16/15 - The Boston Red Sox entered the 2014 MLB season as the defending champions. With a World Series victory at their back, the Red Sox had a tough time making progress. A new season is starting, however, and all fans are hoping Boston can perform like they did in 2013. You can get your first peek at the team on March 3rd, when the Sox start their preseason. Tickets range from $5 to $25, so it a very inexpensive way to support your team and get a feel for the 2015 season, which starts proper on April 6th. Boston has a very late home opener, having to wait until April 13th to welcome the Red Sox back to Boston. That game against the Washington Nationals promises to be very exciting. Tickets start at $90.

1/28/15 - In 2013, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series, then turned around in 2014 to finish last in the American League East. Their line-up is changing for the 2015 Season, swapping pitchers with the Texas Rangers. The Red Sox lost Anthony Ranaudo, and gained Robbie Ross. Ross went 3-6 with a 6.20 ERA in 27 games last year for the Rangers. He should be a valuable addition as a left-handed pitcher. With a new line-up for the 2015 MLB Season, the Red Sox hope to get back on top of the League. They have top draft picks Blake Swihart and Henry Owens, as well as a list of lesser-known younger players who will have a chance to show their stuff.
