Baltimore Orioles News - 2013 Orioles Updates
7/25/13 - Last year’s Orioles were lucky. Despite sabermetricians’ talk of “regression to the mean” (a fancy way of saying “returning to normal”), this year’s O’s are just plain good, led by the surprising power of Chris Davis. With four teams contending for postseason action, the O’s have to hope they continue to play well enough to stay in the hunt.
4/3/13 – For the Orioles, Opening Day was a success! A big seventh inning led to a 7-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays
, a team they outlasted last season to make the MLB Playoffs
. Following the series at Tropicana Field, the Orioles will head to Baltimore for their home opener at Camden Yards. The Orioles home opener against the Minnesota Twins
is the most expensive game of the entire season; tickets range from $91-$358. Compared to other MLB teams, Orioles tickets are reasonable and below the League average. In the month of April, Orioles tickets are twelfth cheapest in the League – just as Orioles tickets for the entire season are.
After 14 consecutive losing seasons, the Baltimore Orioles turned it around in 2012 — posting a winning record and qualifying for postseason play. With a relatively quiet off-season, the 2013 squad looks similar to last year.
The O's have a chance to contend for a second consecutive postseason berth; defensively they are loaded with five Golden Glove Award winners — it may as well be 6 with Manny Machado in the infield. If Tommy Hunter can remain effective in the bullpen, the Birds can keep Jair Jurriens and Brian Roberts healthy and possibly pick up a power hitter, this team will certainly be competitive in a very tough AL East.
Orioles baseball tickets are twelfth cheapest in the League; in fact, every game (except two) has tickets under $20 available. Orioles-Nationals tickets to see the Battle of the Beltways won’t cost you an arm and a leg either; tickets for that series will run you $75 on average. The most expensive series will be when the Birds host the New York Yankees
May 20 – 22; Orioles-Yankees tickets are averaging $111. If you are looking for cheap Orioles tickets, you might have to travel a little. Baltimore away games are averaging $60; and, although this is 10th highest in the League, it will be about 20% less than a home game.
