Baltimore Orioles 2014 News and Updates

4/14/14- The Baltimore Orioles have yet to find their early season groove, racking up a 5-7 record for fourth place in the AL East. After winning their series against the Yankees, they dropped two games over the weekend to the Blue Jays, with their most stimulating offensive action coming from their ball girl, who mistakenly fielded a live ball. The Orioles get a chance to bounce back against the Tampa Bay Rays at home tonight, before they travel to Boston to take on the Red Sox this weekend. Baltimore Orioles tickets are just $5 to start in the Upper Infield this Tuesday at Camden Yards.

4/7/14 - After the first week of baseball, the Baltimore Orioles are 2-4. The underdog contenders avoided two sweeps with a win over the Red Sox last Monday and a win over the Tigers yesterday. Today, the squad starts their series against the Yankees in New York, for Derek Jeter's final home game opener. You can still get into Yankee Stadium for as low as $5 today, $3 tomorrow and $8 on Wednesday. Shortstop JJ Hardy will miss his third game in four days due to lower back spasms than have been plaguing him since last year. Score cheap Baltimore Orioles tickets when they head back to Camden Yards to host the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend (4/11-4/13); get-in for $10 this Saturday and $9 this Sunday.

3/31/14 - The Baltimore Orioles kicked off regular season play today against the Boston Red Sox. While fan favorites Chris Davis, Adam Jones and Manny Machado incited standing ovations from the tens of thousands of Orioles fans in attendance, newbie Nelson Cruz was welcomed with lively "Cruzzzz" cheers. The improved Orioles held off the Red Sox (2-1) in the exciting Opening Day matchup and Cruz received cream pie in the face from teammates during a postgame interview. What a way to start off the year! Baltimore Orioles tickets are available for the next two games of this series, with the cheapest tickets coming this Thursday (4/3) for just $12.

3/24/14 - The Baltimore Orioles have just one more game left at Ed Smith Stadium in Florida this year! Spring training tickets for their final Grapefruit League matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays start at $44. The Orioles will be heading up north to take on the Boston Red Sox on March 31 for Opening Day; tickets start at $109 in the Upper Outfield. Perhaps Baltimore's latest trade will help them tackle the defending World Series Champions: the Tigers acquired 37 year-old shortstop Alex Gonzalez from Baltimore, in exchange for Steve Lombardozzi, a 25 year-old switch-hitting utility player.

3/17/14 - Though they were in the race, the Baltimore Orioles failed to bag veteran RHP Ervin Santana, who is now in Atlanta with the Braves. Another tough pill to swallow: Manny Machado has suffered a setback in recovery from a torn ligament, and will most likely not appear on Opening Day. This will give Ryan Flaherty the opportunity to shine on as the club's third baseman to start the season. The Orioles have the second-highest priced Opening Day game in the league, at $223 on average. You've still got a chance to score cheap Baltimore Orioles tickets if you catch them this week during Spring Training! Orioles tickets are offered at a low $12 to see them against the Minnesota Twins tonight, and double to (a still affordable) $24 to watch them take on the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.

3/10/14 - The Baltimore Orioles are reportedly in the mix to sign free agent pitcher Ervin Santana, offering him $13MM plus incentives against the Jays' $14MM one-year offer to the right-hander. A player the franchise definitely wants to see back in action is Manny Machado, who is slated for evaluation next week, after undergoing knee surgery for a season ending injury in September. Keep up with the Orioles and see if Machado will be good for a full return and if the Santana rumors are true! Baltimore Orioles tickets are just $19 when they play the Boston Red Sox tomorrow at Ed Smith Stadium, and $37 when they take on the New York Yankees this Saturday.

3/3/14 - The Baltimore Orioles opened up their Spring Training schedule with a road game against the Tampa Bay Rays on 2/28 and a Grapefruit home game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, pulling in back-to-back victories. Yesterday, the Orioles suffered their first loss of spring, a tough 8-6 game against the Boston Red Sox. See them get their mojo back with Baltimore Orioles tickets this week! The Orioles will be playing four games in a row (Thurs-Sun), including a Red Sox rematch on 3/8; tickets start at $24 in Sarasota.

2/24/14 - If last week's signing of Ubaldo Jimenez didn't get you riled up for the Baltimore Orioles in 2014, their latest deal will. Two days ago, the Orioles and Nelson Cruz reached a one-year, $8.5 million deal. The free agent outfielder was previously suspended from the Texas Rangers as a result of the Biogenesis scandal, and is raring for redemption. See how the slugger fares in his new uniform with Baltimore Orioles tickets: seats are averaging at $44 over spring training.

2/18/14 - The Baltimore Orioles aren't done with offseason signing just yet: the O's agreed to a $48 million four-year deal with one of the biggest players left on the free agent market: RHP Ubaldo Jimenez. This move, coupled with the finalization of South Korean RHP Suk-min Yoon's three-year contract, makes the O's big contenders in the AL East. All of this action has caused Baltimore Orioles tickets for their first Spring Training game to take a big jump in price, from $5 to a $24 minimum—but that's still a bargain to see them take on the Toronto Blue Jays March 1!

2/11/14 - The Baltimore Orioles were in the final race to bag free-agent pitcher Bronson Arroyo, but ultimately lost the starter to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Now, the club is desperate for a vet in the rotation and, as such, are showing more aggressive interest in remaining free agents A.J. Burnett, Suk-min Yoon and Ervin Santana. Pitchers report for Spring Training in two days, get some Baltimore Orioles tickets now and see who takes the mound on March 1 for just $5!

1/27/14 - Despite achieving their first two winning seasons since ’97, one prominent flaw has plague the Baltimore Orioles over the last couple years: the bullpen. Everyone wants to know who will be added to the Orioles’ porous starting lineup come March! With a considerably quiet offseason, are the O’s doing all they can to compete in the hard-hitting Eastern division? Baltimore Orioles tickets are averaging $42 to see who's on the mound for Spring Training!

2013 Season

7/25/13 - Last year’s Orioles were lucky. Despite sabermetricians’ talk of “regression to the mean” (a fancy way of saying “returning to normal”), this year’s O’s are just plain good, led by the surprising power of Chris Davis. With four teams contending for postseason action, the O’s have to hope they continue to play well enough to stay in the hunt.

4/3/13 – For the Orioles, Opening Day was a success! A big seventh inning led to a 7-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays, a team they outlasted last season to make the MLB Playoffs. Following the series at Tropicana Field, the Orioles will head to Baltimore for their home opener at Camden Yards. The Orioles home opener against the Minnesota Twins is the most expensive game of the entire season; tickets range from $91-$358. Compared to other MLB teams, Orioles tickets are reasonable and below the League average. In the month of April, Orioles tickets are twelfth cheapest in the League – just as Orioles tickets for the entire season are.

Baltimore Orioles 2014 Season

This offseason, the Baltimore Orioles are still on the hunt for a starting pitcher; desperately needing to fill out their weak rotation The Orioles are showing interest in a number of veteran starters that would improve last season’s fourth-worst ERA numbers in the AL. After missing out on coveted Masahiro Tanaka to the New York Yankees, Baltimore is looking closely at right-hander Fernando Rodney, who is one of the top closes left on the free-agent market.

Jim Johnson's trade to Oakland brought back former first-round pick Jemile Weeks, while Nate McLouth departed in place of David Lough from the Royals. The Orioles have since halted agreements with Grant Balfour and Tyler Covin after questionable physical results, which still leaves 11 outfielders to report for Spring Training. They would be added to the O's solid offensive lineup (with the likes of J.J. Hardy, Manny Machado, Adam Jones) and the best defensive team in the history of MLB, which set records for fewest errors committed and highest team fielding percentage last season. Get riled up Birdland: if Baltimore acquires a few more reliable arms, your Orioles are primed for a stellar season in the toughest of divisions!

2013 Season

After 14 consecutive losing seasons, the Baltimore Orioles turned it around in 2012 — posting a winning record and qualifying for postseason play. With a relatively quiet off-season, the 2013 squad looks similar to last year.

The O's have a chance to contend for a second consecutive postseason berth; defensively they are loaded with five Golden Glove Award winners — it may as well be 6 with Manny Machado in the infield. If Tommy Hunter can remain effective in the bullpen, the Birds can keep Jair Jurriens and Brian Roberts healthy and possibly pick up a power hitter, this team will certainly be competitive in a very tough AL East.

Orioles baseball tickets are twelfth cheapest in the League; in fact, every game (except two) has tickets under $20 available. Orioles-Nationals tickets to see the Battle of the Beltways won’t cost you an arm and a leg either; tickets for that series will run you $75 on average. The most expensive series will be when the Birds host the New York Yankees May 20 – 22; Orioles-Yankees tickets are averaging $111. If you are looking for cheap Orioles tickets, you might have to travel a little. Baltimore away games are averaging $60; and, although this is 10th highest in the League, it will be about 20% less than a home game.
