SEC Football - A Closer Look
With the last seven straight BCS National Champions, the SEC is clearly the premiere conference in college football. Two-time defending BCS champion Alabama is showing no signs of slowing, but will still face a number of challengers for SEC and national supremacy. Georgia looks to win its third straight SEC East title, and finally take the next step in 2013. LSU also looks to return to the title game after winning the conference title two years ago, before losing to Alabama in the BCS Championship. Auburn and rival Alabama will face off in Tuscaloosa on 11/9 in the second most expensive SEC game this season, averaging $535.
The most expensive SEC game this season is Alabama’s trip to College Station on 9/14 to face last year’s Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M. Averaging $649, it also the third most expensive NCAA football game overall this season. Along with LSU, the only team to defeat Johnny Football last season was Florida, who went 11-1 in the regular season and narrowly missed a shot at the SEC and National Championships. South Carolina also figures to finish towards the top of the conference, having also lost to only Florida and LSU last season.
Tied for the most expensive home prices in the SEC are Alabama and Georgia at $234, despite not playing one another during the regular season this year. The two defending division champions are followed by Texas A&M, averaging $209. Rounding out the top five are LSU at $206 and South Carolina at $162. Despite finishing last season 3-9 overall and 0-8 in the SEC, Auburn has the seventh highest average in the conference at $134. With an average price of $58, Vanderbilt has the least expensive home football tickets in the SEC.
