1/29/15 - As the days grow longer and the temperatures rise outside, a sports fan’s thoughts turn to the national pastime, and Spring Training. Most of the teams from east of the Mississippi River train in central and south Florida, a circuit known as the Grapefruit League. Several teams are in the greater Tampa Bay metro area, including the New York Yankees (Tampa), Philadelphia (Clearwater), Toronto (Dunedin), Detroit (Lakeland), and Pittsburgh (Bradenton). Further down the Gulf Coast are Baltimore (Sarasota), Tampa Bay Rays (Port Charlotte); and Boston and Minnesota (separate facilities in Fort Myers). Finally, in the center of the state and along the Atlantic Coast are Atlanta (Lake Buena Vista), Houston (Kissimmee), Washington (Viera), New York Mets (Port St. Lucie); and St. Louis and Miami, who share a facility in Jupiter.
