Vampire Weekend 2014 Tour
Formed by a quad of recent college grads, Vampire Weekend emerged out of the Columbia dorm rooms in the mid-2000s and near-instantly became the biggest bands in music. Sparked by buzz and social media, this indie band turned to mega-success nearly overnight: just two years after practicing in their dorm room, Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Baio and Chris Tomson, went from recoding their own album to signing a major record deal, touring across Europe with the Shins and amassing a huge international fanbase.
The group blends a mix of indie, alternative rock, baroque pop and afrobeat into their music, for up-tempo songs with dark and enigmatic lyrics. After releasing an eponymous debut album, the group recorded "Contra" and "Modern Vampires of the City" last year, which subsequently won a Grammy for Best Alternative album. Their second and third studio efforts debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, making them the first indie band to enter at No. 1 with two straight releases.
Vampire Weekend embarked on a tour in support of "Modern Vampires of the City" last year and, to the delight of fans everywhere, they recently announced an expansion of the trek! After their South American jaunt, the boys will be back performing in the States this summer. The tour is scheduled to start with back-to-back shows in Austin (4/25) and concludes in Raleigh (6/12), along with headlining performances at the Governors Ball and Bonnaroo
to boot. Don't miss your second chance to see this group live--get your Vampire Weekend tickets before they go!
