Slayer Tour News and Updates
To put it simply, heavy metal music wouldn’t be what it is today without the influence of headbang-inducing legends, Slayer, taking the reigns in the late 1980s. Considered one of “The Big Four” speed/thrash groups in history, five-time Grammy nominated Slayer joins the likes of Anthrax, Megadeath and Metallica in metal immortality. Slayer’s oft-controversial lyrics surrounding death, Satan, mutilation, warfare,
… moretorment and hell are compounded by their frenzied speed, awe-inspiring guitar solos, and crashing drums.
Slayer formed in Huntington Park, CA in 1982 as a cover band, playing songs from the catalogues of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, but discovered their unique sound and started making music of their own, focusing on black and death metal sound and imagery—a tenant that would prove extremely significant in rock music. Slayer released their first two albums “Show No Mercy” and “Hell Awaits” in the early 1980’s, but didn’t soar to popularity until being picked up by Def Jam. Slayer’s third album “Reign in Blood" is referred to as a classic, generation-defining piece of rock music, and the rest is history.
Slayer has grown their massive worldwide fan base by playing extensive all-out, high-velocity tours consistently over the last three decades. The group will be teaming up with legendary bands Suicidal Tendencies and Exodus on a monster 2014 tour. This is clearly a can’t-miss tour, and will be the trio’s second run of the US this year. The Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies and Exodus' 2014 fall tour will kick off Nov. 12 in Oakland, CA and run through Phoenix, Austin, Charlotte, Albany, Philadelphia, Cleveland and more, before closing out Dec. 5 in Detroit. Now is your chance to be wowed by one of thrash metal’s mightiest pillars with Slayer tickets today.
