Foster the People Tour News and Updates
Indie pop-rock trio Foster the People are known for their melodic genre-busting tunes and rapid rise to fame on the back of infectious song "Pumped Up Kicks." The group formed in Los Angeles when Mark Foster (multi-instrumentalist) enlisted Cubbie Fink (bass) and Mark Pontius (drums) to join him in a new music project after struggling as a solo musician and working as a commercial jingle writer for years. Gaining a burgeoning local and Internet fan base, the group was immediately picked up by Columbia, which turned their bubbly track into an instant worldwide phenomenon even before the release of Foster the People's first album.
Foster the People debuted their first full studio effort, Torches, in 2011 and subsequently embarked on a massive tour of Europe and the US over the next two years. With the pressure of generating a follow-up to "Pumped Up Kicks," the group went to great pains to avoid a sophomore slump. Foster the People just dropped Supermodel, their second album largely produced by heavy weight Paul Epworth in Morocco, featuring the same spunky synth-pop dance beats, but with a moodier, more mature edge.
