Broken Bells Tour News and Updates
4/22/14 - Broken Bells are certainly making their way around the summer festival circuit; slated for Coachella and Bonnaroo, the duo has now been announced in the Lollapalooza lineup! Broken Bells tickets are available for their Friday (8/1) appearance at Grant Park for $142, or buy a three-day Lollapalooza pass for $307. Fourteen dates for Broken Bells' upcoming summer tour have also been announced, including stops in Detroit (6/18), Louisville (6/20), Winnipeg (8/4), Seattle (8/10) and Portland (8/11), plus appearances at New York's Governor's Ball and Delaware's Firefly Festival.
Broken Bells is a collaboration of The Shins' frontman James Mercer and producer Dangers Mouse, Brian Burton (one-half of Gnarls Barkley). Indie king Mercer provides his signature melancholic vocals, while Burton, who's worked with some of the biggest rock bands in the world, arranges the psych-pop indie rock melodies. What emerges are deep, catchy, space rock dance grooves for a truly alternative sound.
After meeting at a Danish Music Festival, the two musical geniuses began the underground side project and headed into the studio four years later. Broken Bells debuted their eponymous album in 2010, featuring ubiquitous track "The High Road." This year the two released sophomore work, After the Disco, composed in Mercer's LA home. The title track single and recent release "Holding on for Life" came to fruition from the duo's late-night musings on growing up and older.
If you can't make it to their headlining shows at Coachella and Bonnaroo Music Festivals this year, score Broken Bells tickets for their concerts in Tempe (8/10), Tucson (8/13), San Diego (8/16) and Oakland (8/19) this summer. Every ticket purchased on the Broken Bell's West Coast tour will benefit the B612 Foundation's Sentinel mission, a space telescope designed to hunt dangerous asteroids near Earth—as if hearing the duo's stellar music live isn't reason enough to buy Broken Bells tickets!
