Lauryn Hill Tour News and Updates
Lauryn Hill has been dubbed music’s “New Soul Legend” and “Hip Hop’s Matriarch" for her unique sound and fearless records. Originally from the 90’s mega-popular reggae-influenced trio, The Fugees, Hill made a name for herself as an urban MC penning rhymes with substance, bringing social awareness to issues of humanity, feminism, toleration and black empowerment to audiences around the globe.
Though she has been out of the spotlight in recent years, Miss Hill made her highly anticipated return to the music scene with the release of song “Consumerism” and her first post-incarceration (for tax evasion) show in November at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom. She has a couple east coast dates lined up this year before completing a court-mandated house arrest beginning in January, after which she is determined to hit the road again. Catch Hill in her native New Jersey for $166, Huntington for $110, or in Boston for $154.
The songstress rose to the top with watershed singles “Doo-Wop (That Thing)”, a smash hit cover of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” and anthem “Ex Factor”, garnering multiples Grammys and a cover on Time magazine. The multitalented singer/songwriter/actress/producer helped usher hip-hop to mainstream music, and her impact is boundless, inspiring musicians like John Legend, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and countless others.
