Macklemore Tour News And Updates

Hip hop artist Macklemore has been added to the list of performers on this year’s American Music Awards show, scheduled for Nov. 22. He, along with producer and collaborator Ryan Lewis have promised that they will perform new music, perhaps off the new album they have been working on. A couple of singles rumored to be a part of the new record include the fun and carefree “Downtown” and “Growing Up,” a song about becoming a father for the first time. Macklemore has also just announced a tour for 2016, beginning Jan. 9 in Phoenix. Before that, however,

2012 The Heist Tour

Seattle rapper Macklemore and hip-hop producer Ryan Lewis spent the summer on the road, performing at numerous festivals including Sasquatch, Roots Picnic, Bonnaroo, Wireless, and Made in America. The “Thrift Shop” duo are in high demand, evident by their April MIT show that became the highest attended Spring concert in recent memory at the technology school, and fans will get quite a few chances to see the two when they embark on a World Tour. The 2013 fall tour follows Macklemore’s 2012 “The Heist” tour to promote his first studio album.

The two will be joined by Mary Lambert, the singer and songwriter of “Same Love”, beginning October 22. Lambert, like Macklemore and Lewis, is from Seattle. The three will play Key Arena three times 12/10, 12/11, and 12/12. The middle date is by far the cheapest, with Macklemore tickets averaging $117 opposed to $173 (12/12) and $171 (12/10). The group will also play The Theatre at Madison Square Garden three times in mid-November. Macklemore tickets for the last New York show on 11/15 are averaging $192, the most expensive concert of the tour. Expect the World Tour to be “crazy and elaborate” just like the last.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis recently dropped a documentary that features five episodes from the duos first world tour. Their success from “Thrift Shop” has skyrocketed the duo onto the world stage; selling more than 6 million digital copies of the song and tallying about 300 million YouTube views. Together they became the first duo to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 with its first two singles in the 50-plus year of the Billboard chart.
