We all thought the little punk-rock band that could would never grow up. In the early years Green Day’s in your face, bratty attitude and madcap-tempo guitar riffs captured the hearts of a longing punk sick youth with 39/Smooth and Kerplunk. In 1994 they signed with Reprise Records and expanded their Berkeley born fanbase on an international level with the major label release, Dookie. The bands label-bred super success with Dookie was facilitated by an onslaught of MTV airplay and followed up with performances at Lollapalooza and Woodstock. Albums following the bands first Reprise Records release failed to meet the commercialized success of Dookie. They released 5 fairly popular albums before the neo rock opera American Idiot was conceived. American Idiot became Green Day’s catalyst back into the punk scene with a politically charged message and the raucous disheveled echo of their yester-year. Now back with 21st Century Breakdown Green Day has managed to stay on the rock opera streak and RazorGator has the best seats in the house to see the continuing punk saga.
