Bruins Tickets Up Over 30% From A Year Ago

bruins

The Boston Bruins entered their seventh straight postseason after posting a 54-19-9 record last year. They would ultimately fall to the Montreal Canadiens in seven Eastern Conference Semifinal games, which has allowed ticket prices for the team’s two home games against the Canadiens this season to be the most expensive on the secondary market. The Rangers, Flyers and Kings will also serve as the Bruins’ top-priced opponents at TD Garden this season, all who established playoff berths in 2014. According to Razorgator, the season average for Bruins tickets at home is $213.80 on the secondary market, 30.8% above last season’s average of $163.41.

The most expensive home game on the Bruins schedule this season will be played on November 22 against the Canadiens. The average secondary price for Bruins vs Canadiens tickets to the late-November game is currently $354.94 and get-in price starts at $151. The Habs will again visit Boston onFebruary 8 and bring with them the second highest-priced tickets the Bruins will see at home this season. The average price for February 8 Boston Bruins tickets to see them take on the Canadiens is $301.36 on the secondary market. Get-in price for that game is currently $114.

The defending Eastern Conference Champion Rangers come to town on March 28, marking the third most expensive game in Boston during the regular season. Bruins v Rangers tickets for the late-March meeting average at $291.97 on the secondary market and own a get-in price of $105. The Flyers will make a stop at TD Garden earlier that month, carrying a $282.42 average ticket price and $99 get-in for their game in Boston on March 7. Rounding off the Bruins five most expensive games are the Kings, who will visit on January 31. The average secondary price for Bruins vs Kings tickets is $279.68 with a get-in price of $102.

It comes as no surprise that the success of the Bruins in recent years has accelerated ticket prices on the secondary market. As they try to stretch their postseason streak to eight consecutive seasons, they’ll be met with high secondary prices at TD Garden all season long.

Seahawks Tickets Averaging Nearly $350 When Cowboys Come To Town

seahwaks cowboys

This Sunday the Seattle Seahawks will host the Dallas Cowboys at CenturyLink Field in a matchup between two of the top rushing teams in the league.  The Cowboys are second in the league in rushing behind Seattle as the Seahawks will look to slow down DeMarco Murray who comes into this game with 670 yards rushing and five touchdowns, making him just the third running back in history along with Jim Brown and O.J. Simpson to rush for at least 100 yards in his first five games. The Cowboys are seeking their fifth straight win, a feat they haven’t accomplished since 2007.

According to Razorgator, Seattle Seahawks vs Dallas Cowboys tickets for this game have a current average price of $348.92 on the secondary market with a get-in price of $149, just below the average price for Seahawks tickets this season and way down from its average of $505 back in June.

Both of these teams are in competitive divisions with the Seahawks currently tied for first in the NFC West with Arizona, as the Cowboys are tied with Philadelphia for first in the NFC East.

While the Cowboys running game has been lights out, Seattle leads the league in rushing at 167.3 rush yards per game behind a bruising running style from Marshawn Lynch who has rushed for 306 yards this season and quarterback Russell Wilson who became just the second QB to have two career games of over 200 yards passing and over 100 yards rushing.

It’ll will be interesting to see if DeMarco Murray will have any success against Seattle who have been limiting opponents to just 62.3 yards per game as the Legion of Boom has not yet displayed their defensive form from last season.

Another matchup that is getting a lot of attention is between cornerback Richard Sherman and wide receiver Dez Bryant as Sherman, who led the league interceptions last season, has no picks so far this year.

ICYMI: Joshua Bell returns to the subway next week

Hey, did you hear about the Grammy-winning classical violinist who played for 45 minutes in an entranceway to the Washington, D.C. subway…and almost no one noticed?

It’s not very often that we here at Razorgator write about classical music or musicians; but when it involves one of the great instrumentalists of our time, and a sequel of sorts to a Pulitzer Prize-winning story, we tend to sit up and take notice.

After a Hard-Fought Game, Both the Falcons and Saints Head to Ohio For Week 2

atlanta-falcons-tickets-2013

In the first game of the season, the Falcons edged the Saints 37-34 in overtime at the Georgia Dome to claim first place in the NFC South. The victory marked just the fourth time the Falcons have beaten the Saints in the past 17 meetings.

The Falcons hope to forget a dismal 4-12 record in which Atlanta finished last in the division. For the Falcons to compete this season, star receiver Julio Jones will need to remain healthy after he missed the final 11 games of 2013. The 25-year-old put together a superstar performance on Sunday afternoon, hauling in 7 receptions for an astounding 116 yards. Quarterback Matt Ryan was dominant, completing 31 passes for a franchise-record 448 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Saints seek to improve upon an 11-5 record that saw New Orleans fall to the Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs last season. The Seahawks, of course, went on to win the Super Bowl. The success of the Saints this season will hinge upon the ability of Drew Brees and the New Orleans offense to put up points. In the 2009 season in which the Saints won the Super Bowl, Brees led an offense that put up a league-best 32 points per game. On Sunday afternoon, New Orleans lost despite scoring 34 points, which indicates that the Saints defense must improve if the team has any chance of returning to Super Bowl contention.

As the high-powered offenses of the Falcons and the Saints look to take off this season, the NFC South appears to be a force to be reckoned with. Atlanta travels to Cincinnati to face Andy Dalton and the Bengals, who beat the Ravens in a Week 1 thriller as Falcons tickets start from just $30 for this game. On the other hand the Saints fly to Cleveland to battle Brian Hoyer and the Browns, who fell to the Steelers in the first game with Saint tickets averaging less than $135 according to RazorGator.

New York, New York – A Look at the Jets and Giants

NY-Giants-vs.-NY-Jets

New York Jets: Under the scorching sun on Sunday afternoon, the Jets beat the Raiders 19-14 at Metlife Stadium to open the season atop the AFC East. New York hopes to improve upon an 8-8 record last season that saw the Jets fail to qualify for the playoffs for the second consecutive season under coach Rex Ryan. The first week was undoubtedly a success for a quarterback who threw turned the ball over 25 times in his rookie campaign and a defense that surrendered 24 points per game last season. Geno Smith led the Gang Green to a win despite two turnovers, and the Jets defense was superb, surrendering a league-low 158 yards.

The average Jets ticket on the secondary market for the game was $208, making Oakland the third-most expensive home game on the Jets schedule and only had three games over $200 all of last season according to RazorGator. Next week, the Jets face Aaron Rodgers and the Packers at Lambeau Field. Green Bay was embarrassed 36-16 in Week 1 by the defending-champion Seahawks, and will look for redemption against the Jets come Sunday.

New York Giants: In a disappointing start to the season on Monday Night Football, the Giants fell to the Lions 35-14 in Detroit. New York went 7-9 last season and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the second consecutive year after winning the Super Bowl in 2011 under coach Tom Coughlin. In the first week matchup against the Lions, quarterback Eli Manning was less-than-stellar, completing just 54 percent of his passes and throwing two interceptions. The Giants defense was not much better, surrendering 35 points, the third-most of any team in Week 1.

The Redskins and Cowboys lost, however, so the Giants find themselves in second place in the NFC East. New York returns to the Meadowlands on Sunday to battle the Cardinals in the home opener. Fans seeking a bargain should look no further, as the average New York Giants ticket price on the secondary market is $263, making Arizona the least-expensive home game for the Giants this season up $10 from June.

Breaking Down the NFC West

nfl_conference-championship

There was a time that the NFC West was perhaps the weakest division in the National Football League. In 2010, the Seattle Seahawks clinched the division with a 7-9 record, becoming the first team to qualify for the playoffs despite a losing record. Several years later, the NFC West is perhaps the strongest division in the National Football League, at least according to secondary ticket data. Below, we will look at two powerhouse teams that sport some of the most expensive secondary ticket prices in the league.

The Seahawks tickets lead the league with an average secondary price of $406.03. The most expensive game in Seattle this season will come in Week 1 when the Packers come to town. The September 4 showdown features a high-powered offense in Green Bay against a star-studded defense in Seattle. Last season, the Packers, led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, scored the third-most points in league. The Seahawks, led by cornerback Richard Sherman and the Legion of Boom, surrendered the fewest points in the league. The average price on the secondary market ahead of the clash is $537.39, representing the fourth-most expensive regular season football game of the season.

The San Francisco 49ers sport the third-highest average secondary ticket price in the league at $382.85. The most expensive game in San Francisco this season will come in Week 13 against, you guessed it, the Seahawks. The November matchup is a repeat of the NFC Championship game last season, in which Seattle defeated San Francisco 23-17 to advance to the Super Bowl. Like the Seahawks, the 49ers have a stifling defense, which last season surrendered the third-fewest points in the league, indicating that points should be hard to come by. The average price on the secondary price for 49ers tickets ahead of the late-season battle is $544.84, good for the third-most expensive regular season football game of the season.

It is only August, but it certainly appears that one of these powerhouse teams is poised to head to Super Bowl XLIX, which will be held on February 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium where fellow NFC West foe Arizona call home see Cardinals tickets go for $142 on average. If either the Seahawks or 49ers earn the right to represent the NFC fans will likely see Super Bowl tickets likely increase from last years average of $3,375 due to them being so close to the venue and therefore more inclined to make the voyage.

Top Alabama Crimson Tide Games of 2014

alabama-vs-auburn-tickets

Entering the final game of the regular season, the Crimson Tide sat atop the SEC with a 9-0 record and claim to the title of number-one ranked football team in the country. Then, the tide began to turn for the worse. A final-play heartbreaker at the hands of Auburn followed by an embarrassing double-digit loss to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl have Alabama fans not exactly sure what to expect this season from a team littered with high-profile talent.

The Crimson Tide lost quarterback A.J. McCarron, tackle Cyrus Kouandjio, linebacker C.J. Mosley, and safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, among others, yet return running back T.J. Yeldon, receiver Christion Jones, and linebacker Trey DePriest. Alabama enters the preseason polls ranked second behind Florida State, and if the stars align, the national championship could return to Tuscaloosa for the third time in four years. Below is a breakdown of the three most-expensive Alabama football tickets on the Crimson Tide schedule this season.

9/20 Florida Gators at Alabama Crimson Tide: Average Price: $254.15 | Get-in Price: $144

The second-most expensive game this season features the Gators, who went 4-8 last season and failed to qualify for a bowl game for the first time in twenty-two years. Florida went 3-5 in conference play, despite losing to all four of the ranked opponents it faced.

10/18 Texas A&M Aggies at Alabama Crimson Tide: Average Price: $223.46 | Get-in Price: $110

Johnny Football has left for the NFL, but the October showdown with Texas A&M still represents the third-most expensive game on the Alabama schedule. The Aggies went 9-4 last season, posting quality wins against Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt before clinching a 52-48 victory over Duke in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

11/29 Auburn Tigers at Alabama Crimson Tide: Average Price: $420.75 | Get-in Price: $248

It should come as no surprise that the most expensive game in Tuscaloosa this season will feature in-state rival Auburn. At an average price of over $420 this game is pricier than most NFL Tickets you will see this year. The Tigers went 12-2 last season after defeating ranked opponents Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Georgia, Alabama, and Missouri before falling to Florida State in the BCS national championship.
