The momentum is building and excitement is through the roof as the 2016 college football season inches closer. With most games starting the first weekend in September, fans everywhere are gearing up for another thrilling campaign. Opening day often offers less-than-stellar matchups, but there are a few games that will catch the eye of even the most casual fans. One of these games is Notre Dame vs. Texas, and with the Notre Dame vs Texas Longhorns Ticket Guide, you can be on hand to see every snap live. The two traditional powers meet Sunday, Sept. 4 at Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. Tickets start at $30.
The fighting Irish and Longhorns have combined for 12 national championships, with Notre Dame winning eight, the last coming in 1988. Texas’ last title came in 2005 under the direction of quarterback Colt McCoy and his prolific offense. Still, the two renowned programs have met just 11 times, though the previous meeting came in last year’s season opener in which the 11th ranked Fighting Irish crushed the Longhorns 38-3. Prior to that, the teams hadn’t met since 1996. Texas last defeated Notre Dame in 1970.
Coached by Brian Kelly, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football team was 10-3 last year, falling in the Fiesta Bowl 44-28 at the hands of Ohio State. The Irish have three top-25 finishes in Kelly’s six years at the school. His best season as Notre Dame’s coach was in 2010 when his squad went 12-1 before losing in the BCS title game to Alabama.
After having great success in the early 2000s, the Texas Longhorns Football team has struggled the past few years. Under head coach Charlie Strong, Texas has endured two straight losing seasons, including last year’s 5-7 mark.
Don’t wait to get your hands on tickets to this clash between these two nationally recognized teams. There aren’t many better ways to get the season started.

The International Champions Cup is an excellent opportunity for fans of the ‘beautiful game’ to witness the top tier European Clubs play on U.S. soil. The tournament acts as a tune up for a lot of Europe’s biggest clubs and has grown in popularity since its implementation in 2013. This year’s rendition includes some of the biggest clubs in the world including Real Madrid (Spain), Chelsea (England), Bayern Munich (Germany), and Paris St. Germaine (France).
The tournament started in 2013 with eight clubs playing across six U.S. cities. The intriguing part of that tournament was the inclusion of the Los Angeles Galaxy, which gave fans the chance to see one of our own play against the big clubs of Europe. In 2014, the ICC doubled the total number of cities to 13 through the United States and Canada. Manchester United played Real Madrid at the ‘Big House’ in Michigan, which drew over 109,000 people! Finally 2015 and 2016, have been expanded to the global market with a lot of the world’s biggest clubs playing across the globe.
The format of the tournament is simple with the clubs facing off in friendlies across the United States (other teams in the tournament are playing internationally, not on U.S. soil). The team with the highest amount of points after all friendlies are played is crowned the champion. Unfortunately, not all of the world’s biggest stars will be appearing in this tournament, but that doesn’t mean there is a shortage of world class players on the pitch this summer. The International Champions Cup gives Europe’s biggest clubs to not only showcase most of their regular players, but also mix in their budding young stars.

Fans will get a treat on Saturday, Sept. 3 when SEC power LSU and Big 10 contender Wisconsin get the 2016 season underway. Under head coach Les Miles, the LSU Tigers Football team has been a consistent threat not only in the SEC but in the national championship race as well. Last season the Tigers went 9-3 and placed third in the SEC West. Miles has guided the Tigers to three SEC division titles and the 2007 national championship. His teams have finished ranked in the top 25 all but two years since he took over the program in 2005.
The Wisconsin Badgers Football team enters the game with a year under the belt of second-year head coach Paul Chryst. The former Badger assistant coach went 10-3 last season, placing second in the Western Division of the Big 10. Wisconsin defeated USC in the Holiday Bowl last season in a 23-21 thriller. This season the Badgers must replace quarterback Joel Stave but return running back Dare Ogunbowale, who rushed for more than 800 yards a year ago. The Badgers have consistently produced All-American-caliber running backs and a strong offensive line.
The Tigers and Badgers have only played one another three times, most recently in 2014 where LSU won 28-24 in the season opener. LSU has won all three meetings, also prevailing in 1971 and 1972. Wisconsin has lost its last two season-opening games, while LSU hasn’t lost its opening game since 2002.
