Boxing fans have plenty to cheer about in the coming weeks, with a headline fight highlighting the slate. And if you act now, you can have a ringside seat for every punch on the Premier Boxing Schedule.
On Saturday, June 25 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, current WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman will take to the ring with challenger Shawn Porter, a former IBF welterweight title-holder, to determine the WBA champion. The time for the much anticipated bout has yet to be announced, but you can claim tickets now for this can’t-miss fight. Tickets start at $51.
Thurman comes into the fight boasting a spotless 26-0 record. Among his wins are 22 by knockout. An April 2009 fight with Mexican Francisco Garcia was ruled No Contest due to an accidental clash of heads.
Thurman hasn’t fought since July 11 of last year when he retained his title by defeating American Luis Callazo in seven rounds. Renowned for his powerful punching abilities, Thurman is currently ranked second among welterweights and fifth among all weight classes of boxes.
Porter, meanwhile, is hardly a slouch. The Ohio-born fighter is 26-1-1, with 16 wins by KO. At 5 feet, 7 inches, he has a reach of 68 inches and moved to welterweight from light middleweight in 2010. Thurman last fought June 20, 2015, when he defeated Adrien Bonner in a 12-round unanimous decision contest. Porter’s only loss came Aug. 16, 2014, at the hands of United Kingdom’s Kell Brook in a 12-round bout.
The Thurman–Porter fight was originally scheduled for March 12, but it was postponed after Thurman was injured in a car accident.
