The Six to See at the 2015 Warped Tour

It’s that time of year again folks. School’s out, we’re about mid-summer and it’s time to head out to the Warped Tour. And just to prove how much time flies when you’re having fun, we thought you should know that this year represents the 20th year Vans has been sponsoring the summer mayhem that is Warped. Has it really been 20 years? It sure has been. Before Coachella and all the other festivals, this was the way to see a million bands in one day and is by far the best. As the years have gone by, Warped has transformed from a punk rock party, to a healthy melting pot of a little bit of everybody. And we like that. Here are some of the artists you may not see at the top of the lineup list, but we think are fire. Check them out. Find Tickets in the Razorgator App.

1. Kaya Stewart

(Hard Rock Kevin Says Stage)

We can’t stop listening to Kaya Stewart. Earlier this month she released her first EP, “In Love with a Boy” and it’s only a matter of time until she’s topping the charts. This UK powerhouse set a record with her single “In Love with a Boy” being added to 85 pop stations, more than any other new artist, upon release. Her look is the perfect mix of 80’s punk and today’s high fashion. And the best part is she has the pipes to back it up. There’s soul, blues and power to every line she sings. Don’t miss her this year at Warped.

2. Koo Koo Kanga Roo

(Beatport Stage)

When it comes to the guys from Koo Koo Kanga Roo, it’s hard to pick what to talk about first. They hit the nail on the head in their bio when they described themselves as, “the Happy Meal of music – fun for little kids, big kids and grown-ups who never quite grew-up.” That’s honestly the truth. If you haven’t checked out their videos, watch the one above and dive down the Koo Koo rabbit hole until you’ve strapped on a fanny pack and are doing the dinosaur stomp at Warped 2015. You won’t regret it. We haven’t stopped stomping since we watched this video for the first time. At this point we’re wondering if Neil and Bryan will hang out with us. Guys? Please?

3. Grey Gordon

(Full Sail University Acoustic Basement)

It’s an understatement to say that Grey Gordon is unique. It goes far beyond that. Taking a look at his cutting edge sense of style and plethora of tattoos, there’s no doubt that he’s an artist. But it’s not until you take a listen to his music and lyrics that you’ll fully grasp the depth of his artistry. His lyrics mean something, and in today’s generation that’s becoming more and more hard to find. Hailing from Fort Wayne, IN, Grey started his career as a solo performer in 2011. After releasing a few EPs, he joined No Sleep Records,  and released the “Still At Home Here EP” with a new full-length album to be released soon.

4.  Alvarez Kings

(Hard Rock Kevin Says Stage)

The trance-like beats and fluid melodies combined with hypnotic vocals, allow the guys from Alvarez Kings to transport the listener to another place. Their recently released, self-title EP is not only taking off in their home country of Great Britain, but now on the stages of Warped Tour 2015 across America. With the high quality demonstrated in their first EP, the sky’s the limit for these guys. They’re going to take off, don’t miss them this year at Warped.

5. MC Lars

(Beatport Stage)

Where do we even begin with MC Lars? Besides being the Robin Hood of “post-punk laptop hop-hop”, he’s also kind of a parfait. The more you read, the more you listen the more layers you uncover, the more absolutely fascinated you become with MC Lars (Andrew Robert MacFarlane Nielsen).  A NorCal kid, not only did he graduate from Stanford, one of the top universities in the country, but also did some time studying abroad at Oxford University. But honestly, after listening to a few of his songs, this doesn’t come as any surprise. What makes his lyrics so fantastic is the mix of satire and political and social commentary, mixed in with what makes white kid rap so awesome. We can’t stop listening. Check him out this summer!

 6. Onward, Etc.

(Full Sail University Acoustic Basement)

Onward, Etc. is the musical movement brainchild of musical and frontman Rosco Wuestewald. A midwestern boy, he left home at an early age to travel the world. This completely shows in the musicality and artistry he shows in his lyrics and as a performer. The hard hitting, boot-stomping beats of Onward Etc. are folksy, soulful and oddly nostalgic. Wherever your home may be, the combination of Rosco’s powerful voice and lyrics will transport you there. A sound this organic is rare. This is not a show you’re going to want to miss.
