If you don’t have NFR National Finals Rodeo tickets, jump on it. Ticket prices for the sold-out event are 29% more than 2012 NFR tickets on the resale market as Texan Trevor Brazile competes for his eleventh World All-Around Rodeo Champion Cowboy title. Now, if you feel like gambling in Las Vegas, you can consider buying an individual mad dash ticket to any or all of the 10 NFR rodeos. Essentially, you have to take the reins, find a Balcony seat not occupied, and pray that you don’t get bucked off by a reserved ticket holder. Because if a person who bought a ticket to that seat shows up, you have to repeat the process and find a different empty seat. No wrangling! You get to try your luck for 30 minutes after the start of the Rodeo and if no one claims the seat, it’s all yours. But, if you don’t get the roll you were hoping for among the untamed beasts of the Wild West, you’ll be watching the event standing, in the concourse.
Now that the first rodeo is over, let’s talk about all you can do in Vegas while you’re in Sin City for NFR. Did you know Willie Nelson will play two shows between December 5 and 14? The cultural icon helped keep the cowboy tradition alive in country music with songs like “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys”. Other country stars will perform outside the National Finals Rodeo arena nearby that week including: Shania Twain (Caesars Palace-Las Vegas), Merle Haggard (Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino-LV), and Dierks Bentley (The Palms Resort and Casino). Plus, the fourth annual American Country Awards are taking place December 10 at Mandalay Bay Hotel Events Center, co-hosted by multi-platinum recording artist Trace Adkins and NASCAR superstar Danica Patrick.
And although it isn’t a top 20 event, country music fans cannot miss the Country Superstars Tribute at Planet Hollywood V Theater where nightly (dark Sundays), you can experience four tributes to some of the biggest names in country music history, such as Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, and more!
“What happens in Vegas” is hundreds of events each week. Here are our top 20 the week of NFR:
