Lets be honest, the only way to cure ‘The Monday Blues’ is with Monday Night Football. MNF has long been one of the most prestigious nights in the NFL. With the 2013 season just months away, we take a look at how Monday Night Football tickets are shaping up on the secondary market.
2012 Monday Night Football tickets averaged $167.75. The most expensive MNF game last year was the Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints on November 5, with an average cost of $325. In comparison, Monday Night Football tickets in 2013 are averaging $262.03 with the most expensive MNF game landing on December 9 – Dallas Cowboys at Chicago Bears. Two of ‘America’s teams’ will play at Solider Field where Bears tickets are the second most expensive NFL tickets (behind the Patriots). In addition, the Dallas Cowboys boast the third most expensive NFL ticket on the road. Last year when the Cowboys and Bears met on Monday night at Cowboys Stadium, tickets averaged $250. Tony Romo and the Dallas offense will look to rebound after last seasons disappointing 34-18 loss and five interceptions.
Although it’s not the most expensive MNF Game of the season, the matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and NFC East Champion Washington Redskins in the Monday Night Football doubleheader may be the most anticipated. Will Chip Kelly’s hurry-up-style offense be successful for the Eagles? Which Eagles QB will win the starting job? Has RG3’s knee fully recovered? Eagles at Redskins tickets are averaging $278, $16 more than the average MNF ticket. Last year’s MNF game at FedEx field against the New York Giants averaged $199.
The cheapest MNF game is November 11 when the Miami Dolphins visit Tampa Bay to play the Buccaneers. Although demand for the 2013 Dolphins is rising, Miami is still in the middle of the pack when it comes to NFL road teams by ticket price, averaging $189 away. Meanwhile, Buccaneers tickets are one of the 10 cheapest NFL tickets by team.
