On Monday, Canadian R&B artist The Weeknd announced a 28-show tour this fall to support his upcoming sophomore album, Kiss Land, which is expected to drop later this summer. The North American tour begins September 6 in Vancouver and ends in his hometown of Toronto for thee shows from October 17-20. This will be The Weeknd’s first major headlining tour after previously opening for Florence and the Machine to glowing reviews. The pre-sale for the tour, simply titled “The Fall”, begins today and tickets will be released to the general public on Friday. While only limited tickets are now available, the average price thus far is $152.
Kiss Land will be the first studio album from the 23-year old Drake protégé under Universal Republic. His previous album, Trilogy, combined The Weeknd’s three already released mixtapes, House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence. Despite Trilogy including only three unreleased songs, it still reached a peak position of #4 on the Billboard 200 and sold enough copies to be certified platinum in May. The new album aims to top those marks and propel The Weeknd to the next level . The first single off the album is also the title track.
