Last year’s Stanley Cup Champions are making a run at the Cup again. After a 2-1 victory against the Sharks in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals, the Los Angeles Kings skate on to the third round of the NHL Playoffs. They’ll matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks who, like the Kings, were victorious is Game 7 of the Western Conference Semis – defeating the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in OT. Chicago had the regular season advantage going 2-1 against LA with their first win of the 2013 shortened season at the Staples Center opening night; it was the same night that the Kings hung their Stanley Cup Championship banner. Will the LA Kings have the same chance to compete for that banner again? Or will the Hawks steal that opportunity away from them? The series starts Saturday in Chicago.
