NFL Ticket Prices 2013 – 10 Most Expensive NFL Tickets by Team

The most expensive ticket in the NFL this season belongs to the New England Patriots. Last year, Patriots tickets were the second most expensive in the League. Tom Brady agreed to take less money in his contract extension in order to spread the wealth among his teammates. This allowed the Patriots to keep key players on their roster. The defending AFC East champs added key acquisitions including Donald Jones, Adrian Wilson, Danny Amendola, and Leon Washington.

The second most expensive team in the NFL are the Chicago Bears. Bears tickets were the fourth most expensive in the League last year. With a new head coach and rumors that Jay Cutler has a new attitude on the field, Bears fans remain optimistic about their 2013 squad. Key games at Soldier Field include the Minnesota Vikings (9/15), New York Giants (10/10), Dallas Cowboys (12/9), and Green Bay Packers (12/29).

Some may find it surprising that Jets tickets are still among the most expensive in the NFL despite recently losing CB Darrelle Revis (traded to Tampa Bay). ESPN mentioned, “season-ticket holders are getting the shaft in New York.” However, one must note that New York is the biggest market (DMA) in the United States and all the City’s sports teams will have a large price tag.

NFL Ticket Prices 2013 – 10 Cheapest NFL Tickets by Team

The Cleveland Browns have the cheapest ticket in the NFL this year. Browns tickets last year were up just one spot, ranking 31/32. Of the five teams who started a rookie QBs last year, Cleveland had the lowest ticket price. The Browns were a dismal 5-11 last year and likely the reason why ticket prices are well below the NFL tickets average.

All of the teams listed below aside from the Cincinnati Bengals (10-6) had losing seasons last year including: Jacksonville Jaguars (2-14), Tennessee Titans (6-10), Kansas City Chiefs (2-14), Buffalo Bills (6-10), St. Louis Rams (7-8-1), Arizona Cardinals (5-11), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-9), and Miami Dolphins (7-9).

NFL Ticket Prices 2013 – 10 Most Expensive NFL Tickets by Game

There are many storylines this year with coaching changes and player trades. Many of times these are the games that are in high demand, which drives ticket prices up. Below are the top 10 most expensive NFL games in 2013.

Eight of the top ten most expensive games will either be played at Gillette Stadium or Soldier Field including the most expensive NFL game in 2013 – Denver Broncos at New England Patriots (11/24). Not only will two of the best QB’s to ever play be squaring off, but Wes Welker will make his return to Gillette Stadium to play against his former team. This game is #1 on Huffington Posts’ ‘NFL Top 10 Must-See Games Of 2013.’

Another matchup involving the Broncos – Denver Broncos at New York Giants – is the third most expensive game this season and involves two of the top QBs in the League who happen to be brothers. When the teams meet at MetLife Stadium, we’ll see two #1 draft picks – the Manning Brothers – going head on. Peyton is 2-0 against Eli heading into 2013.

The sixth most expensive game this season will also be played at Gillette Stadium when Drew Brees and the Saints travel to Foxborough to play Tom Brady and the Patriots. The two future Hall-of-Fame quarterbacks playing against one another makes this mid-October game a must-see. As CBSSports.com pointed out in their article of ‘10 can’t-miss games on the 2013 NFL schedule,’ “Brady has 48 straight games with at least one TD pass, so if the streak continues through the first five weeks, he’ll have a chance to tie Brees’ record of 54 in this game. It doesn’t get more exciting than that.

In 2013, the NFL team that saw the greatest increase in ticket prices were the Detroit Lions (218%). Detroit Lions tickets are now fifth most expensive in the League; last year, just twenty-third. With only one prime-time game on the Lions schedule, fans have one option to see their team – purchase a ticket inside Ford Field.

Tennessee Titans tickets saw the largest drop (percentage wise) in the League since 2012 as well as the greatest drop in rank. Titans tickets on the resale market are down 14% and they went from the thirteenth cheapest team to the third cheapest in one year.

Only three NFL teams saw a decrease in their average ticket price since last season. Those teams were: Pittsburgh Steelers (less than 1%), Minnesota Vikings (-11%), and Tennessee Titans (-14%).

2013 NFL Key Games

In a rematch of last year’s second-round playoff game the Baltimore Ravens visit the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High for the first game of the 2013 NFL regular season. The Broncos open the season with a chance for revenge against the reigning Super Bowl Champs who saw significant turnover on their roster this off-season including playmaker Anquan Boldin (traded to the 49ers) and Ray Lewis (retired).

Tickets to see Peyton Manning return to Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time will cost you at the very least $203. USA Today has the game #1 on their ‘25 games on the 2013 NFL schedule we can’t wait to see.’

The cheapest game on our must-see list? Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (12/8). This west coast rivalry just got hotter – it’s the faceoff between two former Pac-10 (now Pac-12) coaches who are hungry for this year’s NFC title. The Seahawks acquired Percy Harvin from the Minnesota Vikings about six weeks ago while the Niners, more recently, signed former Seahawks TE Cameron Morrah.
