This week’s Top 10 Events includes a variety of shows, sports, and a rodeo. New Yorkers have many options with four events happening in the State. However, the No. 1 spot belongs to a matchup that’ll play out in Vegas – the fourth (and most likely final) meeting between two boxers. Can you guess the top spot?
The top spot is held by Manny Pacquiao who will be fighting Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time. The match will be held at the MGM Grand Hotel Garden Arena in Las Vegas and also made our list of Top December Sporting Events. The average Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez tickets are up $140 since Friday; get-in price now $354 (up $56 since Friday). For more on the fight including ticket trends, read our blog, Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez.
From two of the most popular boxers to a legendary rock group, the Rolling Stones secure the No. 2 spot. After committing to two Newark shows next week, the group later added an additional show at Barclays Center Saturday. Rolling Stones tickets were averaging $3,824 on November 13th prior to the on-sale date; now tickets for the Brooklyn show are averaging a much lower $1,073. Check out our blog for more on the Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Shows.
Back in the Top 3, the New York Giants who currently stand atop the NFC East take on the New Orleans Saints at MetLife Stadium. Saints CB Jabari Greer says playoffs still possible and in theory that might be true; his point that the Giants were 6-6 last year and won the Super Bowl is a good one, but they’ll need help from other contenders. On the other hand, if the playoffs started today, last year’s NFL Champions would be a No. 4 seed in the NFC and would play the Chicago Bears. Can they hold on for two more months? Back in April, New York Giants tickets were fifth most expensive in the league averaging $243. Giants vs. Saints tickets are averaging $320; ranging from $137 – $1,146.
Coming in at No. 4 are the “Top 10 Events of the Week” most frequent team, the New York Knicks. The Knicks will play just once at home this week; Sunday against the Denver Nuggets. The average New York Knicks tickets for the remainder of the season is $277; the average Knicks vs. Nuggets tickets Sunday, $313. Find out why Bleacher Report thinks that the New York Knicks have a legitimate chance at an NBA Title after a 12-4 start.
Tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup between the Redskins and Giants at FedEx Field has Washington at our No. 5 Event of the Week. The Redskins need a win to stay close to the Giants in the divisional race but also to give them a chance at the playoffs. The Giants–Redskins rivalry is the oldest in the NFC East; New York winning seven of the last nine. Redskins vs. Giants tickets were averaging $275 this morning.
A marquee matchup between two teams who have a real chance at being crowned NBA Champs this season, the Heat and Knicks, contribute to a No. 6 spot for the Miami Heat in our Top 10. The Heat are hoping for a different outcome than that of the Knicks home opener, when they lost outright 104 – 84. Heat vs. Knicks tickets are averaging $289 for Thursday night’s game, nearly double the average Heat vs. Hornets ticket for Saturday.
The Brooklyn Nets come in at No. 7 with a big week at home with matchups against Oklahoma City, Golden State, and Milwaukee. It will be another week of battling top teams as each opponent currently leads their respective division. The Thunder have the most wins in the NBA with 14, winning their last five. Can Brooklyn take over the top spot in the Atlantic Division with a win against OKC tomorrow? Thunder vs. Nets tickets were averaging $195 yesterday. Following Tuesday’s game against the Thunder, the Nets will see the Golden State Warriors Friday who currently lead the Pacific Division and Milwaukee Bucks Sunday who currently lead the Central Division.
Following the Nets at No. 8, are the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have the most expensive ticket in the NBA right now and this week, they’ll play The Jazz at Staples Center. The last time the two teams met, the game ended in a win for Utah and 1-4 record for the Lakers. Get-in price to Sunday’s game is just $34; most expensive seat, $4,706 (courtside).
Surprisingly the 2-10 Jacksonville Jaguars made our Top 10 this week. They’ll host the New York Jets at home Sunday. The only hot topic in this matchup may be who starts at QB for New York. Ticket prices range from $27 – $514.
Rounding out the Top 10 this week, is the National Finals Rodeo that will begin December 6 and end December 15. NFR was another Top December Sporting Event; and with the event lasting 10 days, we expect it to make the Top 10 again next week.
