Top 10 Events of the Week (November 5, 2012)

Are you attending one of our Top 10 Events of the Week? Half of our Top 10 Events this Week made the list for the first time in the past month, including our No. 1 spot.

The average price for an NFL game this week is $153. Our No. 1 spot this week belongs to the New England Patriots whose tickets are averaging $405. The current AFC East leaders take on Divisional opponent, Buffalo Bills, Sunday at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots will honor Kevin Faulk at halftime, who recently announced his retirement after a 13-year career with the team. The cheapest ticket listed is $166 which will land you a seat in the upper level corner (Section 340).

For the second week in a row, the New York Knicks make our Top 10 Events of the Week. In fact, after a win against the defending NBA Champs, the Knicks have also moved up the NBA Power Rankings. This week the Knicks will host the Dallas Mavericks, which will mark the first time Jason Kidd will face his former team. Although tickets for the game are averaging $386, there are still a substantial amount of tickets for under $100. Will the Knicks continue to give New Yorkers something to cheer about?

The Chicago Bears (7-1) who drop in at No. 3 this week are another team that made the Top 10 for the first time in the last four weeks. The Bears will matchup against another Divisional leader, the Houston Texans. Both teams are averaging just about 29.5 points a game in the regular season; both are 7-1. The Bears defense, which was dubbed “special” by Coach Marinelli, could be the deciding factor in this very even matchup Sunday at Soldier Field. Ticket prices are ranging from $156 (upper level) to $946 (lower level).

For the third week in a row, Barbra Streisand makes our Top 10. Streisand has three shows in California this week including two at the Hollywood Bowl, Friday and Sunday. Sunday’s show in Los Angeles has the lowest average price at $255, followed by tonight’s show at HP Pavilion at San Jose Arena averaging $436, and Friday’s LA show at $512. This week will mark the last of Streisand’s live shows in the US and Canada.

Justin Bieber is back in our Top 10 after a one-week hiatus. The singer-songwriter (with Carly Rae Jepsen) will be at the Verizon Center-DC tonight; tickets as low as $142. Friday the two pop stars make their way to the Izod Center in New Jersey, where upper level tickets are as low as $100. Bieber will touch down at The Garden Saturday for his last stop this week; tickets for the show are averaging $479 (144% higher than Verizon Center-DC Show).

Like our No. 2 Event of the Week, our No. 6 spot also reigns from New York – the Brooklyn Nets. This is the third time in the past four weeks that the Nets have made our Top 10. The inaugural game at Barclays Center Saturday brought excitement to a City that hasn’t seen much this past week. Unfortunately, Brooklyn will be without starter Gerald Wallace tonight when they play the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tickets to tonight’s game are as low as $21. Later in the week, the undefeated Orlando Magic will have a shot at the Nets in Brooklyn. The cheapest ticket is $16 – the lowest get-in price of all our Top 10 Events this Week.

Our No. 7 spot goes to the team whose home tickets have increased 67 percent in price since preseason, the most in the NFL. That team would be the Seattle Seahawks, who will host the New York Jets Sunday at Century Link Field. The Seahawks have found a way to win each of their home games this regular season; can they continue their winning streak at home this weekend? USC fans may be particularly interested in the matchup as one of the sub-plots will be the matchup between Mark Sanchez and Pete Carroll.

A dismal start by the Los Angeles Lakers hasn’t led to a decrease in ticket prices but has dropped them 12 spots in ESPN’s Power Rankings. According to the comments, only four teams that started 0-3 have ever reached the NBA Finals and that only one of those four — Michael Jordan’s first title team in Chicago in 1991 — rallied to win it all. The team does however still land in our Top 10 at No. 8 with the third highest average in prices this week amongst NBA teams. The Lakers host both Northern California teams this week at the Staples Center, the Golden State Warriors Friday and the Sacramento Kings Sunday, which should draw a significant crowd for displaced Nor Cal fans. Seats in the $30 range are available for both games; only 12 other Lakers games this year at Staples Center can say the same.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the fourth NFL team to hit our Top 10 Events this Week. The Eagles take on Division rival, Dallas Cowboys Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. Although both teams have a losing record, each is playing for a second place spot in the NFC East. Dallas leads the regular season all-time series 56-44. Standing Room and Upper Level tickets are as low as $85 for the game.

And our final spot on our Top 10 Events goes to the young Miami Dolphins squad who will matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Just one game shy of the top spot in the AFC East, the Phins look to start the second half of their season with a win. The average ticket is right around $100; cheapest ticket, just $20 (it’ll likely cost you more to eat at Sun Life Stadium).
