Last year was a rough year for San Diego Chargers fans, the Chargers with a great offensive attack led by Philip Rivers could not find a way to win. In a terrible AFC West division the San Diego Chargers struggled to finish at .500, with a record of 8-8 tied with the not so impressive Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos. The fans who are buying San Diego Chargers tickets, hope this season that San Diego can fix their special teams follies, which according to popular belief was the root of the Chargers failure last season.
The San Diego Chargers coming off the previous forgettable season have a lot to be optimistic about though. They still have good ol’ Philip Rivers a San Diego favorite, who threw for an average of 276 yards a game, and put up an impressive number of 25 points a game for the Chargers last season. Philip Rivers and the Bolts also have a cause for excitement in the return of a healthy Antonio Gates who recorded a team high of 64 receptions last season. However, in place of Vincent Jackson who averaged an astonishing 18 yards a catch, reaching the 1000 yard mark with 9 touchdowns last season will be Eddie Royal and Robert Meachem. This is a big concern considering combined the two only had 59 receptions for 775 yards last season. However, Chargers fans can be at ease knowing Eddie Royal will now have Phillip Rivers throwing to him not Tim Tebow this season and Robert Meachem will be one of the number one targets for Rivers, along with Antonio Gates, so we can look to see both of their production go up next season.
