The economy is rough, but that shouldn’t mean you can’t enjoy L.A. events. Come see these events with average ticket prices under $200. From extreme sports to concerts, Los Angeles is the place to be this week.
Fans of singer-songwriters should jump on these events. Josh Groban tickets sell at an average $194. The L.A. native will perform this Thursday at the Disney Music Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. If you aren’t into the easy listening, and pop rock sound of Groban, but are still bored on Thursday night, you should enjoy the harder and jazzier sound Donald Fagen. He won’t be performing alone in the Gibson Amphitheater; he will be joined by Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs to form the Dukes of September. Donald Fagen tickets sell for $133 on average. If you’re fans of a more eclectic sound, then Razorgator has Ben Harper tickets available as he jams out in the Hollywood Bowl this Sunday. Harper, who has collaborated with Ringo Starr, will return to his native Los Angeles before heading off to Europe next month.
Before hitting the beach for some surf waves, why don’t you take the time to enjoy the new wave sound of the B-52s. The new-wave, poppy sound of the B-52s will be complemented with British pop group Squeeze as they rock out the Greek Theatre this Saturday. B-52 tickets sell on average for $167. If you’re looking for a much newer, yet mellow sound that complements the warm sunny weather, then you’ll enjoy the sounds of Summerland. Summerland tickets sell on average for $189. The funk electronic group’s name sounds more like a decrepit beach pier than a band, but the group’s soulful funk sound will turn up the heat at the Greek Theatre this Friday.
Those looking to take in a show will be glad to know that Los Angeles theatre is alive. Million-Dollar Quartet, the musical based on the recording session among Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins, is at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood all week. Million-Dollar Quartet tickets sell on average for $166, but the last L.A. performance is this Sunday, so buy tickets before time runs out. War Horse tickets are also still available as the critically-acclaimed play fills Ahmanson Theatre. Tickets sell for $142 on average, and the play will also end its L.A. run this Sunday.
Those seeking a more visually engaging live performance will enjoy the trapeze acts of Cirque du Soleil. Cirque du Soleil-Iris tickets sell on average for $178. If trapeze acts aren’t your thing, then you’ll probably enjoy the extreme sports event of the year. X Games tickets are $111. Watch as the world’s premier skaters, BMX riders, and motorcyclists invade L.A. Live this weekend.
