About Monday Night Football
Monday Night Football has a strong tradition of bringing NFL fans together for a night of high-energy and competitive football. With its first game in 1970, MNF became one of the longest prime time series and one of highest-rated television show ever. This first game featured a matchup between the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns, with the Browns beating the Jets 31-21. From 1970-2005, MNF has been aired exclusively on ABC. In 2006, the series moved to ESPN, a sister network to ABC. MNF has always been known to bring out some of the best games in NFL history. Some games include the Jets amazing comeback from a 30-7 deficit against the Miami Dolphins where they took the game into overtime and won 40-37, and Brett Favre’s emotional game in 2003 the day after his father died where he threw for 399 yards and four touchdowns. Monday Night Football has a long tradition and is one of the greatest nights in sports. This 2012 season will be no different.
