Ever wonder what life on the road for a big national summer tour is really like? A new documentary by Cinedigm entitled “No Room For Rockstars” shows all sides of the legendary Vans Warped Tour. Shot in the summer of 2010, this film follows 3 of the acts on the tour: Christofer Drew of Never Shout Never, Mike Posner, and pop-punk band Forever Came Calling. The documentary exposes all aspects of the tour: the supposed “commercialization” with all the companies that come out and market to that all-important teenage demographic; the struggle that many of the bands face to make ends meet while on tour; and a look at the audience and bands attending the tour. It’s a 360 degree view of the Vans Warped Tour that doesn’t take sides, but shows it like it is–highlighting the positive and negative aspects. It’s worth watching for anyone that’s interested in the music industry in general, because it shows what it’s like out there today for a small-time band trying to make it big. The situations highlighted in this documentary are not unique to Warped Tour; they can be seen in touring today in general.
